*cheers* RP I really can't describe it, as you did so well in the OP, other than to say... I like them. lol You should try one.
Good grief! Closest thing I've had to that: It's brutal in every way, and you can literally taste bourbon from the barrels it's aged in. It's a 'once in a blue moon' type beer imo.
For the most part, yes. Except for States that do NOT allow that much alcohol in a bottle of beer. Dogfish Head is brewed in Delaware. But distribution of some of their beers gets difficult the further west of the Country. This one in particular cost me here in Vegas $7.99 a bottle. High ABV and low distribution out here sets that price.
The amazing thing about this beer is even though it was a high ABV% it is amazingly smooth! This company knows how to brew a beer! I am an avid Dogfish Head fan!
This one is for Hop lovers. Delicious IPA with 17% ABV. Much like the World Wide Stout, incredibly smooth for a beer with that much alcohol in it.
Got a spot in FLA that I'll check out... Hopefully they'll have it... How the next morning after effects?
BTW, folks, I tried that new (?) Guinness Black Lager Saturday night, and, I gotta say, it was pretty good...
The last IPA I tried was Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA, and, I can't say I'm a fan... But, ales have been a problem spot for me... Even being a HUGE Yuengling fan, I don't like the Lord Chesterfield Ale... I am just a fan of the real heavy dark beers... *shrug*
No way it's over 18% alc.Even for wine that would be in the fortified category. Maybe they meant 18 Proof or 9% alc. Beer could never make it to that %.It's just not possible. It'd be like saying there are 80 proof wines.
Believe me, it is 18.5% ABV. Dogfish Head are masters of their craft. Not every batch has the same ABV% though. The newest batch that just got distributed out is 18.5% ABV. This beer, when finished brewed and distributed, is ALWAYS between 15% - 20% ABV. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/64/2392
Brewing has changed from many years ago Foolardi. There are numerous beers you can buy in the Country well over 15% ABV. Do some research, perhaps you will find one you may enjoy.
Here is a link to the Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. When brewed complete, they average between 15% - 20% ABV as well. The most recent batch distributed that I bought last November had a 17% ABV. The new batch coming in April is uncertain the amount of alcohol will be in it. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/10099/9086
That's a plus, because I don't actually like tasting a lot of alcohol in my beer. That's my main complaint about trendy/cheap high gravity beers you find in gas stations.
Agreed! Crafted Brews is the only way for me! To hell with Bud, Coors, Miller and that cheap nasty tasting garbage we see endless commercials for watching our sports. Bleh! I will gladly pay the extra scratch for a well crafted beer then 24+ cans or bottles of cheap (*)(*)(*)(*).
Ah, I see you follow the Warsteinian philosophy of "Because life is too short to drink cheap beer." I tend to agree. There are a few cheap beers I like for certain occasions. If it's summer and I'm going to be outside all day, whether it be fishing or wrenching on something in the driveway, I like to have ice cold Busch Light, PBR, or Rolling Rock. Something light and crisp (PBR not exactly crisp though) that isn't too strong. A dark or rich beer doesn't agree with me when out in the sun.
Well, if I spot it, I'll prolly try it... Like I was saying, we have a spot here where they may carry something like that...
