Just on the other side of the gun coin http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-05-06/accused-thief-red-eyed-after-chilli-encounter/4672066
Actually no we have no issues with this You have weekly reports of "guns being used to defend yourself" WE have regular (smaller population) reports of this kind of self defence What sort of imprint does that have on the psyche of the population?
And this intruder will NEVER bother any one else again, EVER!!!! Way to go SARAH!!! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/01/05/okla-mom-shoots-intruder-no-charges_n_1186096.html No Charges For Oklahoma Mom Sarah McKinley, Who Shot Intruder To Protect Baby http://www.ibtimes.com/mom-shoots-i...e-mom-kills-burglar-protect-her-infant-995578 Mom Shoots Intruder Five Times Days After Single Mom Kills Burglar To Protect Her Infant
http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/apr/30/one-person-stabbed-in-oceanside/ Notice the bad guy stabbed a man to death and a lawful CCH held the bad guy for police. HEY this is fun eh.
http://www.webcitation.org/6GPwsuB0T WHAAAT a gun used to stop a crime and no one was shot, I bet chili sauce does more damage eh? I like thread eh
http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=9088027 Isn't breaking and entering against the law already? Why would criminals do that?
What??? You mean we can defend ourselves from harm without the use of a firearm???? I'm shocked. Truly shocked. *shakes head in amazement*
They used to fight for freedom. Now they are afraid of firearms in the hands of their own countrymen.
To Makedde You are amazed???? Why self defense without firearms has been conducted for centuries....I'm not surprised at all. What I am amazed at is that after following the state run media and political reports that firearms are used for anything less than evil purposes. Isn't it wonderful that lawful citizens get to use an equalizing tool to defend and protect themselves and others in their community..eh?
Note the frantic posting of "defending themselves with guns" that is occurring - possibly in an attempt to say "see guns DO work" which I have not said there that they don't - it is just they are not the be all and end all of self defence Now I have not checked out the multitude of links (and thanks BTW for demonstrating my point that the press in the USA by focusing on those stories is engendering the opposite belief system to the press in either the UK or Australia) but I am betting that in the majority another method of self defence could have been used - often with equal success. I would LOVE to see a study done on defeated robbers to see which group had a higher recidivism rate. Can you imagine the response from fellow prisoners in prison "How did you get caught"? "Bailed up wif a shotgun" - Respect and some machismo responses from fellow inmates Compared with "She frew sauce in me face" - instant victim - though if they are smart they would add "but it WAS chilli sauce" then they might win back some respect
Good because "fooling" someone implies that there is a falsehood within my posts - since there is no falsehood then they should be convinced BTW Ad homs are the refuge of those who have no other argument for debate - in other words if you cannot reply to the topic you attack the poster
So continuing the theme that it is the American press that is focussing on gun related defences while UK and Australia they concentrate on non-gun related defences here is a story from the UK http://www.newburytoday.co.uk/2013/shaw-shopkeeper-defends-store-against-armed-robbers The "Old Bill" are going to own this guy's backside http://www.itv.com/news/central/2012-04-07/shopkeeper-fights-gun-wielding-robber/ The idiot had blanks in the gun - probably under the mistaken idea that if there were blanks it would not constitute armed robbery http://www.questia.com/library/1G1-175121379/i-gave-robber-some-stick-exclusive-shopkeeper-defends Mostly UK and if I can find it I would love to post the one about the shopkeeper who chased the robber out the store with a mop and nearly caught him by his shirt - only the robber tore it off to prevent being detained in the get away Our Kiwi Neighbourshttp://www.liveleak.com/view?i=8a8_1237969325
LOL frantic postings? hehehe you miss the entire point, your rebuttal is the frantic post. In a desperate attempt to point out that one doesn't need guns to stop crime your OP made it sound like all one needed was a jar of hot sauce to defend ones self, when confronted with a criminal. You missed two explicit points, one the guns were used the same as the hot sauce...in a non-lethal manner and two weapons do work as an equalizer no matter how much you stomp your lil feet in protest of that fact. And maybe you should arm yourself with facts...or at least pretend to understand how a weapon makes a 70 year old woman equal to a 25 year old criminal...either way it doesn't matter, you admitted you have no facts just a betting feeling and you don't comprehend crime statistics in either america or australia. You do just realize you made a good point for guns....eh
http://gunssavelives.net/blog/video...bers-shotgun-and-chases-him-down-raw-footage/ LOL he took the gun from the bad guy. Gotta love justice eh Bowerbird?
You have to wonder how hot sauce would of worked here eh Bowerbird. http://www.webcitation.org/mainframe.php I'm pretty sure the wife was glad guns weren't banned in the US eh?
Missed the point again I was showing how UK NZ and Australia the media have a different agenda - showing cases where there has been defence without a gun - while in the US the preponderance of reports are defence with a gun And you REALLY did not get the whole "victim inside" thing did you? Must be my Aussie sense of humour
No violence here eh.... Note they are being charged with ARMED Burglary and robbery with a firearm...HEY isn't that already illegal?
LOL Now after all your get rid of gun statistics you want me to believe this is a defense without guns verses a defense with guns thread when in fact you failed to mention that very thing in your first post. UMMM NAW, want me to post some self defense W/O guns posts? We got plenty in the good old USA. Point 2 Nope missed your whole sense of humor thing completely....matter of fact....still don't get anything from your posts other than we could be more crime free w/o guns just like australia. I ain't buying it Good try though eh
