I keep reading all of these posts about the legalization of DRUGS. The only drug that sensible people really want legalized is marijuana. No one is advocating for the legalization of cocaine, crack, heroin, meth or any other extremely nasty drug. ONLY marijuana, which should never be included in the category of these other drugs anyway. The entire problem of overcrowded jails and prisons is because so many people have been locked up because of marijuana. It's a ridiculous argument to engage in to continue advocating for this policy of stupidity.
there are many that think big brother knows best and should take away your choice and do the deciding for you... - - - Updated - - - prohibition does not stop abuse, it just makes criminals of those that do not abuse... the abuse exists either way .
Weed is a cash crop, probably triple the amount of tobacco. If everyone was smart they would legalize it and tax it. If I could go find some good bud and pay a ton of money instead of dealing with Quashawn in the hood, I would. If I did that stuff of course.
why pay taxes on something that any moron can grow himself..oh wait moron..morons are dems so they are too lazy to learn how to grow weed..
Also the gateway to anal sex and hooking up with a transvestite. But it is also 3 square meals a day, unlimited hearts, spades, board games, television, library visits, and a heated / air conditioned bedroom. I wonder if people become prisoners just because life is so easy in one of those places.
When was the last time you looked into weed? You can't grow it. The growers use plant splices to start new plants. No more seeds in weed. I have friends living in Colorado and they say weed and hash is reasonably priced and now THC comes in candy bars, granola bars, drinks, chewing gum, etc. but that you cannot buy seeds to grow your own.
here in california plants are everywhere..they grow like weeds..clones are available..its your choice of what you want to start with...in some rural areas they grow it right out in the front yard..
I'm personally an avid marijuana user ( Not everyday but often) and while I believe it should be federally legalized I don't believe it will ever happen. The old excuse of it being un taxable has went out the window the real reason is that big pharma doesn't want people to be able to grow their own medicine . I would be perfectly ok going to get my herb from a pharmacy but of course there would still be some sort of uncontrollable black market. I think the main issue really comes down to money , and if herb got legalized big pharma would lose money.
In NY you cant grow it because if the plant weighs a pound or more then they can keep your house and give you 15 years in prison. Not worth it when whiskey is legal. Seems so benign - not sure why the laws are so strict. But whiskey is fun so it's a wash I guess.
I'm so jealous! I tried to grow a plant once here in South Carolina. It died. I found out why though. When I pulled it out the ground there was a bible entangled in the roots, LOL Root-bound Edition.
Talk to some ex cons and ask them if prison stops drug abuse. There are more drugs in prison than at CVS. Are you for real?
They could make loads of money for the treasury and the economy. Of course, your leaders don't care about making money for (or not wasting money from ) those.. They only worry about the balance sheet for their corporate buddies and their own offshore bank accounts.
Which is weird because whiskey is way worse than weed. But people will turn to drink instead of weed because of legality concerns, and could wind up dying from that, whereas if they smoked weed they wouldn't. So prohibition is killing people. But we already knew that, it kills loads of people due to all the wars and such. (I mean the actual, literal, 'war on drugs' we are currently fighting).
As opposed to the paradise we currently live in. I think the land will be a bit happier. I thought people were supposed to not like nanny-state laws. All for the low low price to the working taxpayers of only like $30,000.00 per year, per pothead! That's only like 20 times as much as we would have to pay in food stamps for him to sit around all day and smoke weed. What a great deal!
yeah, cause life would be so easy sleeping with real criminals all around you... that could give someone PTSD and cause them possibly to be a violent criminal when released .
Statistically we do sleep with real criminals around us! USA has a lot of crime. A ton of murders, assaults, rapes, etc. I am just saying that in prison folks have it pretty darn easy. Cable TV, movies, healthy meals, ability to play games with each other, study in libraries, and are protected from bad living conditions. Compare a person in a prison to a person living in a homeless shelter or on the street, for example. Another statistic - prison food is healthier than school food. Our prisoners are eating better than our own children. Prisoners also get the best possible medical care, including dental work. Poor people and the lower middle class often ignore medical needs because they cannot afford them. In prison you are guaranteed medical care. The American Library Association publishes standards and donates books to prison libraries, and there are prison libraries that are much more comprehensive than public libraries.
it's easy to get in if you think it's so great... - - - Updated - - - we should do the same with white collar crime... take everything they own and then they can prove they deserve it back in court at a later date (think they call that guilty until proved innocent), but it's a war on drugs, so it must be ok... .
