http://www.bhiva.org/documents/Conferences/Autumn2013/presentations/131114/KevinFenton.pdf above is a link to a presentation given at the British HIV conference. Given the numbers we have seen lately with the resurgence of HIV among homosexual men, why do you suppose they refuse to practice safe sex? I understand that there is 0% chance of impregnating another male but there is a good chance of contracting HIV. >>>>Removed Too Personal<<<<<
We've had this discussion with sec before. The only reason he is reposting this subject is to make gay people look bad. We all now that by now. Why are we still giving him any attention?
Notice he doesn't suggest anything on how to stop it? If it's not just gay-bashing....what's the purpose of his constant updates on STDs among gays???
marriage and monogamous relationships help prevent the disease spread as well support same sex marriage... save lives .
I discussed condoms but it was removed Since I do not engage in homosexual sex i was asking posters such as you who do, why does this occur. I cannot speak from experience. I simply created a thread with some disturbing facts about something which I view as completely avoidable. How you respond is up to you; address the topic or attack the poster for whatever reason.
Unfortunately human beings are stupid when it comes to sex. Most Single Adults Not Using Condoms British study finds less than half of people in 30s, 40s use them when with a new partner http://health.usnews.com/health-new...08/11/12/most-single-adults-not-using-condoms http://health.usnews.com/health-new.../10/04/condom-use-lowest-among-adults-over-40 Yet more than 90 percent of men over 50 didn't use a condom when they last had sex with a date or casual acquaintance, and 70 percent didn't do so when they had sex with a stranger. Among women over 50, a majority also report having sex without a condom. By contrast, 70 to 80 percent of teens say they used a condom during their last sexual encounter. All age groups were more likely to use condoms with casual partners than in monogamous relationships. The risk of HIV infection is greater with gay men- but apparently all adults are playing the odds. HIV doesn't care whether a person is gay or straight, nor does Hep C or Herpes- but people continue to have unprotected sex even with new partners. The question is- why would any adult risk having unprotected sex with a new sex partner? Because a whole lot of gay men, and straight men, are doing just that.
Many do use safer sex practices, but thanks for maligning the entire demographic and thereby exposing your intent in posting the thread, which clearly isn't to inform or solicit a meaningful discussion, but to generalize about gay men in an effort to demean them.
i feel no sorrow for gay men who contract HIV after knowingly and willingly engaging in unprotected activity. i feel no sorrow for people who contract HIV after knowingly and willingly injecting themselves with drugs. BUT DUDE - WHY ARE YOU SO OBSESSED WITH GAY PEOPLE AND GAY SEX ? You create threads on this over and over.
And "straight" people never screw-up... ever. (Right.) I agree that people should be responsible for the choices they make, but you expressing how lacking in compassion you can be... promotes nothing good.
It's obvious where the problem lies... 100 threads about gay marriage, but ONE thread about AIDS is considered too many. Gay priorities don't include educating young men about the horrors of AIDS. No surprise we're seeing the results of that mentality.
On the contrary, we can explore ANY topic offered up for respectful discussion. Having a respectful discussion is clearly not the purpose of this thread. As for the 'gay marriage' threads, many of those were not started by gay forum members and likewise do not seek a respectful discussion. You're welcome to your asinine and mistaken opinion, and that's all it is. And that helps us identify this post as a flamebait. You are not omniscient, and pretending that gay people have a shared mentality on the issue merely reveals the depth of your prejudices.
Actually its statistics that prove a shared mentality. Do you claim the incidence of AIDS is NOT increasing in the gay community?
We've discussed this before with you. That you feigning ignorance of past discussions is pathetic at best on your part.
i hold straight people to the same - i bought up gays only because the OP was talking about them specifically
Pretty amusing since the first page of this thread the pro gay advocates spent most of their time berating the OP staying away from the argument and attacking the poster. If you want respectful discussion stop talking about the personal motivations of people who don't agree with you. The hate of the far left on this board is staggering on this issue. Anyone who doesn't agree with gay marriage is called a bigot and a homophobe and any evidence they present is called "propaganda" with no proof of the accusations. So before you call for "respectful discussions" have some mutual respect for those who don't agree with your position.
And straight people are still getting sick from AIDS. Your input on reality is highly biased and distorted; that only adds to the problems we must all deal with.
You say that as if the bulk of reasonable people cannot see how these threads trend. We KNOW that people very often generate topics like this one to simply put down or disparage homosexuality and people who happen to be homosexual. To NOT realize that, points to either lack of experience within this forum or wanting to defend the promotion of homophobia itself. If one is reasonable, it isn't difficult to see the things I'm pointing out.
8 posts on the first page do not address the topic but instead, address me. A serious topic but the homosexuals here refuse to discuss it and instead attack the poster; very telling indeed
They do nothing of the kind. But maybe you should layout exactly what you think that mentality entails to further illustrate how disconnected from reality your position is. Your statements on the matter have the effect of trying to take away people's individuality. It's demeaning and thus contributes to the problems you're complaining about. People who are told they have no value learn not to value their own lives, and end up either pursuing destructive behavior, or failing to protect themselves from harm, or both. This is the "mentality" that your bashing of the entire demographic helps create. Ultimately I agree that people need to take responsibility for their own lives and actions. But that doesn't change what I see happening when people spew bigotry about gay people, like claiming that they collectively have a mentality that prioritizes politics over health. One hopes that some people will eventually learn that they have a responsibility not only for the things they do, but also the things they say, and when to shut up. Of course not. I just don't leap to the prejudiced conclusion that gays have a "shared mentality" and proclaim my judgment upon the whole group, as if I had earned the right to be so self-righteous. Frankly, your statements on the matter disgust me.
