that was a very easy position to take when you believed that Lerner's emails didn't exist, or it couldn't be proven.... now it's just the waiting game. Like I said... I look forward to you avoiding the impending threads about it.... lol
Yes, the partisan hacks allow it, so joe sixpack doesn't have a say. If the hacks would put a halt to it when their party is in power, then there would be a chance. But that won't ever happen.
I just said it to another poster, and I'll say it here again. Don't let the partisans allow gov't intrusion when their party is in power. Once gov't gets it, they never give it up. Don't have partisans whine when a gov't doesn't let a sunset clause expire when they are out of power, hyporcritical. It is the partisans who create this mess by allowing their party the power when they are in control.
This "Hate Speech" trip is just another effort by Leftist to disallow anybody speaking their minds about anything they disagree with. Saying that, probably the most hateful, bigoted, racist posters are Lefties. And, just who is going to determine exactly what Hate Speech is? Shades of Hitler and Stalin and Mao.
And that's exactly what concerns me. Things like this could lead to criminalizing a difference in political ideas or opinions. People today in other parts of the world are in prison for challenging the status quo. I think the left is fully capable of doing it here too if we let them. I think it's happening here right now. Isn't a man in prison right now for making a video with a message someone simply disagrees with?
... cool.. electric shock collars... connected to the social media... say the bad things and get zapped... and we thought it was only in books and movies...
Amazing that social conservatives are opposed to a database that identifies lies and hate speech in America.... or is it? Considering that probably 80% or more of all hate groups are right-wing groups perhaps they want to protect themselves from being exposed. Whenever it comes to "knowledge" it seems the social conservatives are opposed to it. Can someone please explain that to me? Of note no one's rights are being violated by this identifying of hate speech and political lies by the public predominately in memes that are spread around on the internet. It's just a datebase to identify the scope of problem but does nothing about it. It's just "information" and nothing more.
Truthy? Sounds familiar. Didn't someone else try and put a similarly cute name on a monstrously evil computer program...?
Irrelevant to whether the government should make a determination of what speech they don't like and establish a database of it.
The "government?" We're not talking about government agencies producing regulation on their own. We are talking about the Congress voting to extend those powers and the President signing the bill, not something just happening mysteriously somehow. When you say, "we could have told you" what you really mean is that even though you Democrats said you opposed that power, you just opposed it because a Republican administration welded it. As soon as the Democrats took power, they voted to extend the same powers they spent years saying they opposed. Trying to play that off as just something that the "government" did somehow is pretty fraudulent.
republicans wanted to give bush that power, not they are not happy that other presidents wont give it up, doesn't work that way, once you give gov a power, gov wont give it up without a fight as it makes their jobs easier.... .
Nope. Once again. I'm not unhappy the President has most of those powers. But that was never the issue. The issue is you are still pretending that the "government" somehow got this power and the "government" isn't going to give it up and there's nothing anyone can do about it. That's just nonsense. It's a specific actions by Congress and the President; not "the government." The issue is the hypocrisy of your side opposing a series of powers that at you guys have quietly extended, and then pretending Obama didn't have anything to do with it, nor the Democratic House and Senate in 2009. It's not that you are trying to insult my intelligence with your "the government did it" theory, it's that you are insulting yourself, just to try to hide your hypocrisy.
nope, republicans were fine with Bush having the power, now they are upset that Obama has the power.... simple as that
From 2000 through 2008 leftwingers howled in outrage and horror over just about everything that G.W. Bush did and then endorsed all of the eerily mirror actions and activities of Barack Obama. The rank political and ideological hypocrisy has been fascinating and revealing.
Not really, people broadcast their thoughts and feelings on a website for everybody to read. I am not really sure there is anything creepy about it
You can repeat yourself and continue to be wrong as often as you wish, but you are still wrong. Bush and the Patriot Act has nothing to do with this. I already said I didn't oppose Bush having most of those powers and I don't oppose Obama having most of those powers.
Perhaps. But when idiots cheer the passing of gov't intrusion for more security, they shouldn't complain when the gov't uses the new power given to them.
To that you can say thank you GWB and the R controlled congress and the passing of the patriot act. One of the most intrusive pieces of legislation to be passed in a long time.
Pretty ignorant statement. I don't call myself a D or R, in the nuts and bolts of it they're the same. Give one power an it is power for the govt forever. To think the sunset clause wan't going to be extended is about as ignorant as one could be on how gov't works.
WTF did you expect? 2 party 1 system. And hacks on both sides are blind, dumb and stupid. And BTW, hypocrites.
Well, to be totally honest, considering that I bashed G.W. Bush for most of his two terms as president along side those very same howling leftwingers, I rather expected them to apply the same standards to a Democratic Party president . . . which is what I continued to do. I . . . was . . . disappointed.
Yes, and that's always bothered me. I understand voting for the lesser of two evils. Shudder! Oh yes, I understand having to do that! But doing so and then giving that lesser evil across the board and blanket loyalty? Why? It is after all still an evil, albeit a lesser one. I will never understand blind party loyalists.
