In your personal life, keep it as special as you like. When you step into the public space of main street, your special likes and dislikes take a backseat to our shared laws. Have a problem with that? Don't hang a shingle on main street.
Alrighty. But if you as a business sell 'Wedding cakes"- yes you as a business have no interest in what kind of a wedding it is- you just supply a wedding cake. And if you refuse to provide a wedding cake because the customer is black or Jewish or Homosexual that violates public accommodation laws in Oregon and other states.
No- marriage does not require a married couple to be sexual at all. Governments- both state and federal- recognize marriage partnerships between couples who commit their lives to each other.
LOL- but of course no couple 'needs' regulation or government involvement- which is why many couples forego such arrangements altogether. However, government recognizes the societal benefit to recognizing legal partnerships which we call marriage. And those benefits are applied equally to all married couples- straight- gay- 80 years old- quadrapalegics- all get the exact same legal 'benefits' for being married. And that is exactly how it should be.
Baking a cake is not a religious celebration- baking a cake is not forcing someone to attend church or temple or celebrate Ramadan. If a business sells wedding cakes- the business can't decide not to sell them to Jews or Muslims just because they don't approve of Jews or Muslims- and in some states- the same applies to homosexuals. - - - Updated - - - You of course are welcome to your opinion. It is only when you try to impose that opinion on others that there is a problem- because you frankly have no business telling other adults how they can have sex with other consenting adults.
It isn't 'political repression'- what stupid conceit of yours to think so. Public Accommodation laws are state and local laws put into place by 'we the people'- the people of the state or the local community- and 'we the people' can repeal such laws if 'we the people' do not want them. You don't like public accommodation laws that require a business to serve people regardless of their race, religion, national origin or sexual orientation- you can try to change those laws. You don't like public accommodation laws that require a business that sells wedding cakes to sell to people regardless of whether they are black, Jewish, Mexican or gay- you can try to change those laws. Or if you are in a business that provides wedding services- but your personal religious beliefs would be compromised if you have to provide your services to a black or a Jew or a Muslim or a Mexican or a homosexual- then you should get out of that business- because you are going to have problems with business law.
Man created marriage, and change its meaning. Glad I could clear that u for you. Obviously he does, as he is correct, and you are hopelessly wrong.
Don't be ridiculous. Most every word changes meaning over time. Gay didn't use to have anything with homosexual. Some words are even used today that were used 100 yrs ago. Languages never stay the same, in a 1000 yrs you won't recognize English.
Nope nothing in my comment is a lie no matter how much you desire it to be. The presumption is only held until challenged, and has nothing to do with marriage law, but paternity law, furthermore having a child at some point is not a prerequisite of being able to marry
Baking a cake is not celebrating the actual wedding, a cake is a prop in the celebrations nothing more, what you are attempting to do, and failing, is to make a wedding cake the same as a wedding, one is an event, the other a prop in that event, just as Ramadan or Easter are events and not props in those events, by your logic if a Christian makes Bahamian (a traditional food served during Ramadan) they are celebrating in the religious festival of Ramadan or if a Muslim sells chocolate eggs they are celebrating Easter .. the absurdity of your assertion speaks for itself.
They didn't, they prosecuted them for violating public accommodation laws, not for refusing to celebrate a SSM, and for publishing the people's names causing them to receive death threats. This whole BS facade concerning non-existent violation of the bakers religious freedom is nothing more than a red herring to cover up their homophobic actions.
I realize that it's not directly at 'me'. Still, I see people continuing to spout this BS about "gays" and what legal rights they should not have etc. That CRAP needs to end and be put down, in much the same way that we know it's wrong to walk up on the street and just tell anyone what we might think of them. Just SHUT THE HELL UP and let people live their lives... unless they somehow step upon or hinder your own freedoms and liberties. And people who do that to gays (LGBT) deserve all the flak that comes right back at them. They want to literally discriminate against HUMAN beings, yet expect that people won't fight them back. How stupidly insensitive that all is!! - - - Updated - - - Amen!!!
No such thing as a gay wedding cake, yet another facade invented to cover up the true agenda. Religion means the same thing to all people.
Wedding cake is simply wedding cake, ffs it is not as if it has any religious significance under Christianity.
What, no fornication between priests and young same sex members of their congregation? You'll undermine the attractiveness of the priesthood and we know where that would lead us, don't we?
This is true. However if half the people still hold true to it's meaning, you can't merely change it for yours, while disregarding the others.
