The American singer Dion DiMucci (from Dion and the Belmonts) garnered a # 4 hit in the USA. And this from a guy who sang such songs as "The Wanderer", "Runaround Sue", "Teenager in Love", and other teenage hits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5hFMy4pTrs
Artists have a way of memorializing some of the public knowledge. No matter the government's lies, many folks are able to perceive that they ARE lies.
This old geezer heard of that song. Dion made his name and fortune from teeny bopper songs and his appeal to pubescent girls. Abraham, Martin & John was a piece he created during the height of the social revolution when the same teeny crowd grew up a bit, same as Dion.
Yes, and many are so well conditioned that they are not even aware they have been lied to, years after any given lie.
The Pentagon Papers clearly showed that the Gulf of Tonkin ''incident'' which expanded the war was a fake. Just like the Downing Street Memo showed that traitor Bush lied. BTW, that was an excellent song sung by Dion.
That is exactly what is wrong with you and other conspiracy theory groupies like you - - - Updated - - - No they do not show that. There were actually two separate incidents one of which was very real the other was simply a mistake. try again
Read the Pentagon Papers and all media accounts of that era, including the Supreme Court ruling. Do that instead of listening to radical right wing radio or Fox network lies and you will be far more informed as to the TRUTH.
They prove exactly what he claims--the Pentagon has a well established pattern of behavior in which they deliberately and grossly mislead the American public. As Mike Gravel, then US Congressman put it after those papers were released, they demonstrate "a purposeful withholding and distortion of facts". The kicker is they are still doing exactly that today. The War On Terror is a fraud of epic proportions.
They are also one of the most thieving entities on the planet. Just one day prior to 9/11, Rumsfeld announced there was $2.3 trillion unaccounted for by the Pentagon. And just last year it was reported they were missing $8.5 trillion from their budget. And this is on top of receiving more than half a $trillion each year and pi$$ing away huge amounts of money on failed projects such as the F-35 and grossly inflated purchases from defense contractors in general. So just like everything else about the US government, they are a pathological lying entity protecting the massing looting of Americans. Never forget, for all that money, they did NOTHING to defend the US and the Pentagon itself on 9/11.
Yes because what I stated is true. - - - Updated - - - No they do not. What you are claiming is a general opinion. What he claimed was a specific assertion which the Pentagon papers do not prove. Nor does s the downing Street memo. Neither of which you or he has bothered to read.
I hated that song. I thought it trivialized the tragic lives of three great men. Sort of like Justin Bieber making a song about inner city poverty, (he's not, has he?) I have this belief that real artistry should approach social issues obliquely, and so gain impact by making you work for it. The direct approach almost invariably ends up milking cheap sentimentality for effect, particularly when presented by mediocre craftsmen.
We all have our own thoughts on it but I loved it (and still do), especially at that time period (during the 60's cultural revolution) when I attended the University. I thought it sent a loud and clear message via a very popular medium. It was and still is one of the best ways to get the point across to a massive audience. Dion was not the greatest vocalists around but his message was heard by many regardless and IMO it was far from trivial.
