I'm a hotdog nut. When I travel I love to check out the local red hots and polish sausage sandwiches. Chicago is my sausage sandwich and Italian beef Mecca but I've visited the Varsity in Atlanta and Pink's in L.A. My favorite Polish is Jim's in Chicago, of course with yellow mustard and grilled onions. My favorite hotdog is Super Dawg in Chicago with the Varsity in Atlanta a close second. If you like sausage on a bun, what are your favorites and from where? Regards, Jason Bourne
I left Chicago 17 years ago, so for me now, I just say "Chicago dog," as my standard. Finally, after years of searching, I found an authentic Chicago dog/Italian beef place last weekend. Heaven! (First time in years and years I didn't have to ask for Celery salt.)
I live in the Fox Valley of Wisconsin, just east of Appleton. There is a restaurant, "Taste of the Windy City," that makes an authentic Chicago dog. Vienna sausage hot dog, neon green relish, real sport peppers, the works for a Chicago dog and, yes, celery salt. I love Chicago dogs and Al's Italian beef sandwiches (fully dipped, of course, with hot gardiener). Regards, Jason Bourne
NY, Nathans in coney island, on stillwell ave Natural casing hot dogs Or Katz's kosher Deli on the lower east side of manhattan kosher hot dogs with a knish on the side
This little Bento Box just made my day.. https://blog.japancentre.com/2016/10/30/recipe-delicious-onigiri-bento-lunch-box/
I love Der Weinerschnitzel's chili cheese dogs. That's what I get whenever I am hungry for a hotdog !!
A Varsity chili dog is pretty good eating, no doubt. Especially with onion rings and a frosted orange shake.
Yep. Dog, Relish, Tomatoes, diced onion, sport peppers, & celery salt. Ketchup, (Nooooooo!) & mustard.
Nothing to me beats getting two hot dogs and a Italian beef sandwich at portillo"s Btw down the street heading towards Chicago from superdawg is even a better hotdog place ( don't know if it's still there) .
I can't find a good hot dog or Italian beef sandwich 800 miles away from where I live now They like chilli dogs... .
Sacrilege putting ketchup on a Chicago dog. The dog has to be Vienna Beef, the mustard Plohmann's yellow, the relish neon green, white onions (never yellow) and a poppyseed bun. Whenever I'm in Chicago I hit Super Dawg for authentic Chicago dogs and Jim's for Chicago Polish with grilled onions and yellow mustard. Cheers, Jason Bourne
I got a bunch of hole-in-the-wall places in the Chi area to dig some dogs. The only plus to living close!
Good wiener, charcoal grilled, on a buttered, toasted bun, with a splotch of mustard, and cole slaw on top.
