If you want to donate to help animals don't donate to the ASPCA, or PETA. Donate to your local Animal Rescue Shelter facility.
I totally agree with your statement. If your dog/cat is not going to be bred or shown competitively, neutering is recommended. Also from experience, never purchase a pet that has to be flown to you. Find a local breeder if you're interested in a particular breed. Some cautions: some breeds of dog may be prone to hip dysplasia, while some large dog breeds may be prone to cardiomegaly,
This is why a bill of rights is dangerous: do we need a right to keep and bear pit bulls? If you enumerate the things government cannot do it assumes it can do the remainder. I don't see any authority to regulate dogs. I'm sure they'll find it somewhere.
It must be pit bulls that are the best dog. Sure, they have a bad rep, but are a sweet as little bunnies...if the owner is a nice person too.
Oh god this is so depressing that there are fools who, to satisfy a brain-dead whim, would risk killing a human being, young or old. Well hear this, and I'll probably be banned for typing it - I really do hope you get attacked by one of your precious pit bulls, and find out how painful it is before they finish you off. Have a good day you stupid cu . . . fool!!
I did have a suspicion it was a parody but with so many enthusiasts for them on this thread alone, I defaulted to it was meant. I obviously withdraw my remarks.
My home, property, and family. I have a small ten acre ranch with some expensive equipment, classic vehicles and most important my wife, kids and grandkids.
My my, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed. So I'll send a wish back to you wanker...May Allah guide some of those Muslim immigrant to your door and you can experience a gang rape up close and personal...bloody fool.
It depends on what ya want a dog for... ... if ya want a good watch dog... ... get a snarly ol' pound pup.
I will restate Catahoulas are the most loyal, hardworking, owner pleasing and protective dogs I have found. (Not for people that want high energy companions) but they desire to be gainfully employed. I have two in my avatar.
All large dogs and or even wolves dogs need to be treated with both respect and love but they are all on average and by the numbers far safer to live with then other humans. Footnote I can still remember as a teenager grabbing our schnauzer out of the air in mid leap headed for our neighbor throat who had been unwise enough to hit his own kids in front of our kids loving dog. Yes indeed dogs can be dangerous as they have minds of their own and will reacted with their own judgments under extreme situations but overall in a peaceful household they are far safer to be around then another human.
My fenced five acre property and my house. They haven't been formally trained but they run the perimeters of the property constantly throughout the day and night. Anyone approaching the property is greeted by both of them barking at the gate. The one in the picture on my avatar, Alice is now about 16 months old and weighs about 60lbs. Her "little" brother Ralph was born on June 20 of this year, about 6 months ago and he already weighs 68lbs and growing fast. They are very friendly to people after I let them in and they are both wonderful friends and companions.
I bike around a farming area and there are a lot of dogs that will charge the fences barking like mad and I normally stop for a few minutes and talk to them. I feel bad that a woman had gotten annoy at her dogs for becoming friendly with me and was waging their tails instead of barking to the point I change my route.
Pit Bulls aka American Staffordshire Terriers. TEMPERAMENT The Am Staff is a people-oriented dog that thrives when he is made part of the family and given a job to do. Regular exercise and training are necessary. They are natural clowns, so they tend to make training comical at times; they like to put a little twist on your training program. It’s vital to keep it fun and interesting. A stubborn-streak can make them difficult to train at times and will require patience and a firm, but kind, hand.
They would probably stop barking if you stopped to talk to them, but most people here only come by on foot when they are walking their dogs. My dogs bark until they are out f sight, but their tails are wagging like they want to go out and meet the other dogs and hang out with them. At any rate, it is nice having them here to alert me if anyone or any animal is lurking around.
Good answer - the larger breeds like Alsatians shouldn't be kept as lifestyle accessories because they need to work, and yours are doing a worthwhile job of work. I'm sure they're contented animals and won't cause any problems. Nevertheless, I wouldn't leave them alone with small children if I were you.
Why do they always sniff each other's anuses? Then they come and lick their owner's face? I mean EEEEEYUKK! I'll never understand the obsession with dogs for as long as I live.
True, and thats been my point all along. State and local govts which have enacted legislation to ban "pit bulls" have had to define "pit bull" by various physical traits, the usual final determination is a visual inspection of the dog. Breed and behavior have little to do with it, to the govt regulator if a dog looks scary and is muscular and medium or large size, then its declared to be a "pit bull".
