My apologies....I should have used the word "positive" instead of "good"...of course no one will answer.....because there are no answers........
Did you know that killers kill because they like it, nothing to do with religion. It's not a belief from their religion that makes them kill.
This is probably true in most cases, however in Islam, you have written orders from God to kill. This can turn a person from someone who would never hurt anyone into a killer. The percentage of killers will be higher, than a religion with no such orders.
There is a primal, wild, bloodthirsty need to kill in every human being. A civilized society does its best to train this out of individuals, but it is always there, and will naturally surface in dire situations. I am a natural born killer. I know, some people will say they ain't.
Religious and other belief is often the basis for which people kill. History - both past and present - is full of examples ... as are the annals of Psychology and Sociology textbooks. Sure there are people who kill because they like it however, the claim that this is the only reason people kill is demonstrably false.
When it comes to wars, only 7% were religious based and half of that 7% is to do with Islam. When it comes to crime (individual killings, school/cinema massacres), I don't know the stats on this and religion.
No idea where you get your 7% statistic from - over what time period you are referring to - what geographical region ..what the definition of "religious war" was used and so on. Regardless - this refutes your claim that religious belief is never a motivation for killing. Wanton killing of the North American Indians was obviously killing motivated - at least in part - by religious belief. The Crusades - Obviously The thousand years of Horror under Christianity - conversion by the sword - persecution of heretics and pagans - the inquisition - killing on the basis of religious belief Cathars - killing on the basis of religious belief Jews - not talking Hitler but their persecution and killing by Christian Europe over the centuries = killing on the basis of religious belief. The Croatian Genocide committed against Orthodox and Jewish Serbs during WW2 was killing on the basis of religious belief. And I am just getting started - I didn't even mention the Muslim side of the equation - they have been killing each other over religious belief for centuries.
The Encyclopedia of Wars. It documents all wars and determines whether they were religious based. Only 7% were religious based and half of those were by Islam. It's a common misconception that more people died because of religion. If memory serves, it covers some 5,000 years. Edit - WWI and WWII were not religious based.
Religion is a common denominator for gathering people in a call to arms, but not the reason for the war.
Thanks ford the context - 5000 years is a long time. For the first 3000 years of humanity - which includes a whole lot of wars - folks probably did not fight over religion. Religious zealotry comes in phases as well. Regardless your claim that folks don't kill over religious belief is false. There is lots of killing other than in war .. and there were a whole lot of wars that have been fought on the basis of religious belief. WW2 was not religious based in general. This does not change the fact that Catholic Croatia killed a whole lot of orthodox and Jewish Serbs on the basis of religious belief .. complete with forced conversions and so on. Ivan Šarić, the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Vrhbosna in Sarajevo, supported the Ustaša, in particular the forcible conversion of Orthodox Serbs to Roman Catholicism. His diocesan newspaper wrote: "There is a limit to love. The movement of liberation of the world from the Jews is a movement for the renewal of human dignity. Omniscient and omnipotent God stands behind this movement. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_clergy_involvement_with_the_Ustaše When Hitler looked like he was going to win - the Vatican was excited that it might be able to continue its century old favorite past time of persecution and killing of Jews .. when Hitler started to lose - the Vatican quickly switched sides.
The Battle Hym of the Republic comes to mind “In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the Sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me; As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on.”
Interesting sideline to the Brunei story.... What if gays and lesbians chose not to visit Brunei now due to the implementation of the death penalty.... and chose to cancel their flights.....some people I believe are being refused refunds.... Wouldnt their contracts to fly be voided by "force majeure" Force majeure (/ˌfɔːrs mɑːˈʒɜːr, -məˈʒɜːr/ FORSS mah-ZHUR, -mə-ZHUR; French: [fɔʁs maʒœʁ]) – or vis major (Latin) – meaning "superior force", also known as cas fortuit (French) or casus fortuitus (Latin) "chance occurrence, unavoidable accident", is a common clause in contracts that essentially frees both parties from liability or obligation when an extraordinary event or circumstance beyond the control of the parties, such as a war, strike, riot, crime, or an event described by the legal term act of God (hurricane, flood, earthquake, volcanic eruption, etc.), prevents one or both parties from fulfilling their obligations under the contract. In practice, most force majeure clauses do not excuse a party's non-performance entirely, but only suspend it for the duration of the force majeure. Force majeure is generally intended to include occurrences beyond the reasonable control of a party, and therefore would not cover: • Any result of the negligence or malfeasance of a party, which has a materially adverse effect on the ability of such party to perform its obligations. • Any result of the usual and natural consequences of external forces. • • Any circumstances that are specifically contemplated (included) in the contract—for example, if the contract for the outdoor event specifically permits or requires cancellation in the event of rain. Under international law, it refers to an irresistible force or unforeseen event beyond the control of a state making it materially impossible to fulfill an international obligation, and is related to the concept of a state of emergency. Force majeure...even if not in the contract, could be used to void the contract and seek a refund for the cancellation of the trip......just sayin.....
No. I may kill but as a last resort to save my life or that of my family. Not for material things and not for any other reason. I don't have it in me to kill.
Years ago I consulted The Norton Anthology of English Literature, there were many volumes of it. Their section on literary naturalism metaphorically had me down to a "t." You could tell this was somewhat difficult territory for the editorial staff. I am a natural born killer and have many times struggled to subdue the urge, and have been within a split second of carrying out murder in this country. Mere killing is easy for me.
Assuming you’re telling the truth, USArmy should have recruited you years ago and parachute you off at ISIS headquarters... that war be won a long ago!
The method to use is to model, with more efficient modifications, their methodology: blow up their homes, kill their families, and more terrible things I won't mention, that is, to bring abject terror, suffering, and death down upon them on a scale unimaginable. One man in direct confrontation can't accomplish much.
And what does that have to do with the poster not being able to prove that he'll is real? As I said, we can prove that stonings are real. Where have I denied this?
