But if dogs are 'property', then why can't you carry your kayak into the store? Why can't you carry your 60" TV into the stores with you? There is no law stopping you.
So, help me clarify here, to the original question then, yes, you'd be in favor of allowing folks to proactively address grievances in public because that's what you believe you're entitled to do? And, because you "feel" that you don't want folks to travel with their dogs, it would be your preference that the rest of society ban them from being in public so you can feel more safe? How about this, instead of exacting your own brand of tyranny on others, why not simply ignore other folks and their dogs and worry about what you've got to do? Fair, equitable, and no one loses out, except perhaps the rage in your own mind...
Fallacy of false equivalency, C D: you ever see a huge dog pee in the middle of the Food Court at City Creek square in down town SLC? I have, So did maybe 400 people also saw it besides me. Keep your mutt in the car.
And, once again, your failure to comprehend what the original post was about, leads you down a stray path. I don't care if someone travels with their pet. I don't care if they take them into a pet store. I don't care if they take them to a park where they interact with other dogs. Their rights stop, where mine begin. I do not go to a home improvement store to play meet and greet with dogs. I go there to purchase goods that I need or want. When someone brings a pet that actively prevents me from completing the purpose of my visit, then yes, I have the right to address it. Apparently you have chosen to be the tyrant in your created drama, inflicting your demands to bring a pet, for your convenience and pleasure, to a place it does not belong, to inconvenience other people while you wave your hand in dismissal of the pleebs.
By CD, I assume you reference me. Please indicate what post you refer, I'm not matching your statement with anything I've posted.
Can it, C D. Animals, other than service-designated animals, do not belong in restaurants, food stores, etc. You or anyone walk your non service animal into such a place, and I will have management review right quick, and I will call the Health Department to submit a complain with pictures of you and your animal.
I wouldn't want the federal government involved in this -- there's already way too much employee and retirement expense.
I've never had any difficulties with service dogs, and I haven't seen any other persons have difficulties. That said, I've never seen a pit bull used as a service dog. I do draw the line at pot-bellied pigs and pheasants and snakes. These are not on par with a working dog breed. A guy did all his grocery shopping in Winn-Dixie with a very small mixed breed dog (teacup size) on his shoulder, like a parrot, the other day. Second time I've seen them. People were mesmerized and mostly all smiles. It didn't have a service vest, but there really was nothing to bother anyone. Quite entertaining.
I believe you are confusing me with someone else.... I do not believe animals other than service animals belong in retail environments. Read the OP, please.
I always get a little chuckle... The folks we see generally pining longingly for the lifestyle of the Euro socialists evidently forgot that for and throughout most of those countries, dogs go everywhere. Because they do.
State regulations might work but I meant the Feds could authorize a number of proper certification companies to paper service animals, it wouldn't be hard many charities and such train dogs and miniature horses (allowed in Florida) to be trained properly it would be more a rubber stamp to verify this FEDERALLY and animals outside the training locations would need to be tested to qualify. Simple.
The state of Utahs regulations on these matter, and certain communities are enforcing them. https://www.standard.net/news/local...cle_0424d40d-f255-571c-b8c6-77a48681ab13.html
I've never had a problem with a real trained service dog. I was almost attacked by a Great Dane "service" dog that had no training.
The toleration of animals in places such as restaurants, grocery stores, and hotels is yet another indication we are quickly sinking into a 3rd world country. While animals have always been tolerated in less civilized societies, in the past it was never tolerated in the US due to health problems and the social awareness that bringing your animal where it did not belong imposed on the rights of your fellow citizens. We cannot count on the lowest tier of society to respect the rights of others, we must impose our will on the merchants who allow such behavior by boycotting those businesses and writing letters of complaint.
