Early on, after the fire began spreading rapidly, I heard one (ONE) news report that said some people in the area thought the fire had started in or near a big homeless camp in the area. I never heard another story about that possibility.... Here in all along the 'Front Range' of Colorado (Denver-Colo. Springs-Pueblo area), we've had numerous wildfires that were definitely started by homeless bums, going back several years. But the L.A. area doesn't have many homeless bums living there... do they...?
What are you talking about? California has so much power it's causing wild fires. The reason is because PG&E hasn't updated their 100 year old poles and wires and other components that are such a hazard that they have no choice but to brown out to avoid burning down more of the state. It's hot and dry in California as it's always been. There WILL always be forest fires as that's part of nature. The real problem is that 50 million some odd people live in the state and it's the 4th largest economy, so now a days every wild fire threatens development.
I'm a native and you don't know what you are talking about. PG&E instead of investing in updating its infrastructure invested millions on "Green Energy" and "Electric Car" set ups to appease their Democratic Party overlords in Sacramento. This is the result. The Democrats have at least the same amount of blame as PG&E.
The area where the fire started is an area where lots of Meth Heads wearing MAGA hats. Heavy pro Trump area. Either they were cooking up a small batch in their kids room or they intentionally started it as part of the Trump campaign’s “Hate California’” initiative.
Now you are learning. For so many reasons, the Democrats are at fault here. California / Democrats are 100% to blame for it. It's not even a question. With the heavily regulated utilities and insane push to "renewables", before their time, along with the shut down of our Nuclear Plants (zero carbon emissions), Democrats have forced our utilities to spend $ on "renewables" and not on other strategies to mitigate any runaway fires while providing clean energy. We could have: Cleared the underbrush. We didn't learn after the Lake Arrowhead Fire (Democrats fault too.) Clear cut on a rotating basis to create fire breaks. Used the helicopter saw method to clear all around power lines. Invest in modular nuclear power instead of the "Bullet Train". (No meltdown potential, 100% safe, localized with no power lines through forests, and uses all the spent nuclear waste from old nuclear plants - hundreds of years of fuel sitting there. Bill Gates Foundation is 100% in on this solution.) The Leftists stopped all of these solutions from happening in California. Didn't allow the power companies to spend on them, and want to blame the power companies? What a joke. Now Californians are the Beta Testers for the Green New Deal. No power... that's how it will be you idiots. I live near the beach with no issues. But, I have also set up my house to run off a generator that I can turn on at anytime running on natural gas. Enjoy your ideology Lefties. This is the result.
Bull. This alone proves otherwise. https://www.wsj.com/articles/californias-dark-ages-11570748835 Unless they have been spending 400% of their budget on green energy, that math doesn't add up. The problem is simple: They have more miles of lines than they can possibly maintain without drastic rate increases.
Bunch of GOP talking point BS. There have been brush fires here since well before I ever got here in 1964. The fires will be put out in the next couple days, people will rebuild and our great fire and police agencies will go about trying to prevent and prepare for other fires and possible mudslides which may occur. Your Demikin vs Republicrat dogma is just a bunch of tired old crap.
Really... share with everyone where Republicans used those "talking points"? This is just a cop out, because you have no answers. The modular nuclear game from Bill Gates. The helicopter line clearing is nowhere in the media. Clear cutting is proven to work in Democrat areas like Washington State. Clearing underbrush is a Republican idea? WTF are you babbling about.
That's because Sacramento FORCED them to use their $$$ on Green Energy. You don't know what you are talking about. Where are you from? I grew up near Sacramento and am a California native to this day.
Anytime a national disaster or mass shooting takes place there are whack jobs from both sides trying to blame it on the opposite party from the one they support. You are one of the poster boys for this. There are several steps which can be taken to prevent fires and I am for moving forward in those efforts. So are all reasonable people from both parties. Fire does not care which party you belong to, neither do high winds or dry conditions. Please stop trying to score cheap political points on the backs of other peoples suffering.
So in other words you have NOTHING to support the bullshit post you put up prior. Thanks for playing. Note: I listed 4 different strategies to reduce these fires. I actually gave the solutions.... and then I have to read a **** post like this one.
This is the real problem, going forward. People need to stop building in such dangerous places. It's one thing to live on a thousand acres of remote country and deal with the elements as you will, but putting SUBURBS - with their heavy infrastructure and difficult escape routes etc, in the line of fire (literally, in this case) is profoundly stupid.
Oh, those 17 BILLION dollars needed from the California ratepayers, the state and the feds to pay for a "green energy" nuclear plant that is needed to deal with the decommissioning of this plant after spending 2 BILLION dollars to rebuild it! The money spent of close to a hundred billion dollars for just this nuke plant and the enormous money we pay still every month to retire the money to pay for our fossil fuel plants waste under Enron and associated debacle.
Republican land developers who fought tooth and nail against Democrat environmentalists to get all of those huge ugly developments built.
Crooked Republicans are famous for oozing their way into zoning commissions and taking bribes from rich GOP developers. Blaming Democrats for over developing natural landscapes is laughable. For a solid example of this in the Los Angeles area all you have to do is look at what the GOP did to the once beautiful Orange County Coast. Then roll on up to Malibu where tree hugging liberals have worked hard to limit development and preserve the natural beauty of our California coastline. The Orange County GOP Coast is crammed full with cheesy condos as far as the eye can see and the whole county is a traffic nightmare.
Gentlemen, the truth is that land speculators and builders have been going further and further out into 'wildland' areas for decades! I've watched this everywhere I've been -- from Maryland to California -- and especially here in my state of Colorado! It seemed to have started full-force in the late 1960's, when the "wealth" of many Americans skyrocketed, fueled especially by the prosperity we had had since World War II, and then, by the Vietnam War. People wanted to get out of crappy, old neighborhoods that were beginning to deteriorate, and they wanted to get as far away as they could from crowded metro areas, the smog, the traffic, and the increasing crime. Land speculators and subdivision developers LOVED it, and they made vast fortunes for many years -- the American Dream. And, in principle, there's nothing wrong with 'giving people what they want and are willing to pay (A LOT) for....' Now, especially in highly-desirable places like those in California, and here in the "Mountain West", there's a new reality -- DROUGHT! It's been a recurring phenomenon in the American West for thousands of years (see all the 'tree-ring' data), but nobody gave a thought to that... they just wanted to go live their little 'John Denver' dream of living out in the wilderness, far from the crowds, the conjestion, and the crap that human beings cause when they cluster in high-densities.... So now there's danger from wildfires...?! Oops!
disagree california has many untapped oil wells, that oil has nowhere to go so it trickles up thru the roots of trees and makes them flammable during hot dry weather months. the truth is that the solution to wild fires has always been to drill for oil and make use of that natural resource before it ignites.
