And they still complain, just like they complained as they cashed those checks.

Long term, they are the only party WITH an agenda, since I do not consider "lib trolling" to be an actual agenda...

It's all a matter of dosage.

    But that's not the point.

Why is Trump, supposedly an ardent opponent of socialism, multiplying state intervention measures in the economy since 2017?

He even signed the three biggest bailouts in history.

Ironically, Trump demonstrates that socialism can work.

    Ok, ill bite. Name one.

You see taking away natural choice and instituting nanny state policies as the "normal" evolution?

I suppose if tyranny is the end goal, that would be accurate.

    Hydro Quebec

Monopoly of electricity generation and distribution in the province. The government is the sole shareholder.

7 million consumers, $4 billion profit in 2019 ... And Quebecers pay the lowest electricity prices in the world.

Do you think Norwegians, Canadians, Germans, Swedes and English are less free than Americans?

They live longer than Americans, less infant mortality, less crime, less poverty, less cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

    And above all, less COVID.

    Hell on earth.

Governments don't participate in free market concepts, and monopolies are entities within free markets. Give me an example of a monopoly in the private sector that doesnt have high prices.

The criteria for which you place all those other countries citizen qualities is highly cherry picked.

From my perspective, government taking care of me is not high on the priority list. I can take care of myself just fine without elected politicians telling me how I have to live.

In order to pay for all those nanny state policies, here is a list of what is generally given up:

    - lower taxation
    - less single family home ownership
    - far more expensive to operate private cars
    - less private outdoor areas
    - less entrepreneurs and innovation

So when you speak about less "freedoms", yes absolutely. The limitations aren't limited just to ny ability to care for myself or have a relationship with my insurance company and doctor, but also all those things above.

To be clear, all our resident socialists are willing to give up everybody else's freedoms because THEY have something to gain.

Live in a small box, ride a bicycle, and sacrifice so THEY can be provided with healthcare.

    Same story... every time.

~ Trump also took down the price gouge on insulin for Medicare recipients. Maximum is now $35. Nothing on mainstream broadcast news about this - of course.

I told you about natural monopolies, such as energy, health care and so on.

    Yet that's the reality.

Go ask a Canadian if he wants universal health care taken away.

    Listen carefully to his answer.

For the conservatives who think that this instance of government meddling in prices is a good thing, just remember that the same logic can be applied to minimum wage, rent controls, and price controls for all things. Whatever occupation you are in, would you complain if the government came in and limited how much you can make?

My point is, when someone bitches about others who want the government to raise minimum wage or to control an individual's right to set the monthly value of his rental property, but then is happy that the government is controlling prices of something he needs is being hypocritical.

    Example:
Are you okay with government run and controlled healthcare? Aw hell naw!
Are you okay with government controlled drug prices? Well heck yeah, them prescriptions is expensive!

Being for capitalism in general, but then being against it when it costs you money, is disingenuous.

Really? What is their economic agenda to get people back to work and the economy growing again and when have their policies worked in the past?

That's complete BS - The problem was that there was no competition - the drug makers are famous price fixing - collusion and anti competitive practices - alone with the other healthcare Oligopolies - is what happens with Capitalism gone bad

It is not only Capitalism that is the problem - but to say Capitalism is not part of the equation is simply false.

They have the wrong Part D drug plans. It takes a lot of time and patience to find the best plan for the drugs that you take and you make a big mistake if you dont do the research before signing up. It also depends on where you live.

It is possible to use pharmacy discount coupons for a lot of drugs and save a lot of money. The thing to be aware of is that you have to compare prices between the various pharamcies when using the discount coupons because the prices will vary widely for the same prescription. Of course, some drugs will cost you several hundred dollars even with a coupon at the cheapest pharmacy.

Some Medicare plans include drug plans at no cost but you still need to compare the cost of your expected drugs to get an idea of the best plan. It can be a gamble even if you think you know what you are doing.
