For most people most of the time loyalties of race, nation, and ethnicity have been stronger than loyalties of class. That has been the Republican advantage since the civil rights movement. When the crime rate is rising, and there are black ghetto riots the Republican advantage is even more pronounced.

Nevertheless, in 1968 Richard Nixon had an advantage the Donald Trump does not have now: the Democrats had had the White House for eight years, and both houses of Congress longer than that. Trump's situation is equivalent to George H.W. Bush's in 1992: during the Rodney King riots earlier in the year, Republicans had held the White House for eleven years.

I am a Democrat who intends to vote a straight Democrat ticket next November like I always do. Nevertheless, I responded to the black ghetto riots that followed the death of George Floyd with anger, hatred, and blood lust. These were directed at the rioters, not the police who were trying to quell the riots. For reasons I do not understand, there was an outpouring of grief for George Floyd and sympathy for the so called "peaceful demonstrations." The national response to the black ghetto riots was surprisingly tepid.

I think additional black ghetto riots and a continuing rise in crime will help Trump, but I am not sure any more. The voters may decide that Trump's angry tweets are causing more harm than good, and that it is a time for a change.

I do not see how the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise in unemployment can not hurt Trump's chances for re election.

Nobody (repeat NOBODY) actually believes that the polls will "suddenly narrow" over Labor Day Weekend.

In Fact, I will call it right now.

In the first batch of Post-Labor Day Weekend Polls. the RCP Avg. will have Biden leading anywhere from 8% to 10% (or MORE).

And, by Election Day, Trump will be lucky to avoid finishing with less that 200 EV.

Even if Trump doesn't win another term as president, which seems likely, the judges he appointed will make it that much harder for Democrats to make their agenda on the issues stick. A cry of unconstitutional would end some initiatives really fast!

Especially given the fact that most of them actually are. And a few of them are physically impossible in the time table given.

According to that CREDIBLE poll conducted just a month ago Dems already have that 90% because 89% is well WITHIN the MoE.

But don't let FACTS stop you believing your bovine excrement about black "support" for your criminal Covidiot.

Where is your credible EVIDENCE that the Dems are using mail in balloting for nefarious purposes or are you just pulling that bovine excrement out of your nether regions again?

You actually BELIEVE that massive load of CRAP from American Treblinka?

Had you done your HOMEWORK and clicked on the LINK supplied for the WAPO/ABC poll you would have been able to scroll to the bottom where it provided the METHODOLOGY and SAMPLE size.

For those who do NOT understand polling methodologies they use WEIGHTING to adjust for random variations as to who answers the phone so there is no such thing as "oversampling"!

FACTS matter to everyone who is NOT a supporter of your Covidiot.

Tell that to the Democrat political leaders. Maybe they could save resources they are throwing at a Biden loss.

Rational logic is anathema to mindless devotion.

Trumpers should just don their reddest frocks, and belt out their defiant little song with verve, panache, gusto, duende, and a big heap of élan!

I wonder if the media isn't rigging the election so that Trump wins. That might seem strange but hear me out.

The news media needs viewers and if a Democrat is in office they don't get to have an outrage for every day. They don't get to whine about Trump's tweets without seeming obsessed with some has been.

Are they really trying to get Trump to win so they can remain relevant?

Actually, contriving a conspiracy theory in which the preponderance (if not all) political pollsters collude to skew their samples to achieve a consistent, desired deviation is somewhat less deranged than fantasizing about invisible people, such as the millions of imaginary dastards who, in 2016, cast bogus ballots against Trump according to Trump, a myriad of devious will-of-the-wisps who all evaporated as thoroughly as Trump's promised tax returns before the intrepid Fake-Vote Czar Kobach could nab a single one!

Professional polling operations are competitive entities whose comparative advantage is entirely contingent upon a record of accuracy that exceeds that of the competition, an existential incentive that far outweighs any thumbs on a common scale about which painfully naïve paranoidal partisans might delude themselves, in a pathetic attempt to wish away displeasing results.

No poll is perfect, but all legitimate ones want to be.

Biden isn’t even on TV much. I can’t understand how the left thinks they can win with such an immobile candidate. He literally campaigns out of his basement.

My impression is that enthusiasm for Biden is very low.
So, while he might lead in polls (and their accuracy is questionable), it doesn’t mean these people will choose to get off their behinds and vote. I witness in my Facebook news feed many seemingly liberal friends turning against Democrats. This trend is visible everywhere, fueled by riots and quarantine, and its completely ignored by mass media.

most American voters do not want Trump to be President for 4 more years, that alone will be enough to get them off their butts and vote

To succeed, the left's tribalist programming requires an evil demon, purveyor of all-things-bad, starter of every American dumpster fire. Trump is definitely far better for left-leaning mainstream media's survival and for their corporate shareholders.

I'm not sure about that. The same people probably didn't want Trump to be president at all and then getting off their butts to vote last time didn't matter. Is say Hillary was more exciting than Biden. It'll all depend on his VP pick. Chances are here won't make it through his first term.
