Just thinking what I would do if I was a young black.

    If I got yanked arbitrarily from my daily life by the police, seeing there was no reason at all, which happened thousands of times a day. With the perceived or real reality of the track record of police and young black men. Would I run if I saw a clear shot at getting away. Well My best guess is many would run, me probably being one. . It seems like the safest decision.

    White or black or brown should respect and obey any and all police officers. If you are stupid enough to resist, insult, or run, bad things will happen to you.

    That is not a good idea. Being calm, polite and cooperative is the best approach regardless of your race or gender.

    That's easy to do when a cop respects you back. Not so easy to avoid when a cop is a racist thug or coward with a gun.

    That might be, but it's almost definite if you run and s/he gets ticked off. Yes, cops stop and bully minorities more than they do non-minorities, but some of those are not necessarily looking to kill someone.

    As I just said in another thread, I used to get over for driving while white in black neighborhoods. I minded my manners, showed some respect and went on my way. Why does that seem to be so impossibly difficult for some people?

    I'm surprised by the post who show a disrespect for a police officer. Do you people really feel that way from an encounter or are you just following the BLM narrative? Not all preachers are good, not all teachers are good, not all politicians are good, and not all of us are good. But most are and most cops are. If you get a bad cop on your case that's even more reason to behave and do as he says. You can register a complaint later. Hard to complain about a mean cop while you are horizontal in a casket.

    I don't know if I agree with you or not. I do sometimes wonder what the outcome would have been had the German Jews resisted, fought, or in some way "run" from the Nazis.

    The American "negro" tried that right up into the 1960's and what did it get him? It took Martin Luther King, the Black Muslims, and the Black Panthers to even begin making a change.

    Such cops suffer from occupational racism. If they go easy on blacks they'll be accused of racial favouritism

    I have been an LEO and I've been manhandled and bullied by cops MANY times (due to a long messy divorce).

    Police officers are not the easiest people to get along with but they are not out brandishing their weapons looking to kill everybody. Yes, minorities are unfairly targeted by police. Yes, systemic racism exists that funnels minorities into incarceration. Nevertheless, it's unfair to suggest that police officers are randomly shooting people.

    yup it's a balancing act, on how to stay alive. Personally if I was black and saw a way to escape I'd take it .
