From a legal standpoint they would evaluate the ability of the person to successfully execute the threat. She threatened to post a negative comment on her facebook page. I think if you called the police to have her arrested for uttering threats they would laugh at you. From a social media power standpoint, you probably had more power than she did by creating this thread. There are probably more views of this thread than her post on her page. A yelp reviewer probably has a greater chance to impact the business than she does.

    Oh just bloody STOP willya.

What IS it with this return to the early 50's anyway? Marxism, communism, socialism, is DEAD and has officially been so for 30 years with another 10 years of being moribund before that. There is NO big country that practices any form of collectivism left in the world (China is "Communist" in name only, they are more Capitalist than we are in actual fact) and it has NO prominent advocates in intellectual circles. The very concept of collectivism is of historical interest entirely. You conservatives just make yourselves look ****ing SILLY by this constant McCarthyist going on as if WWII just ended.

I support the right of someone to post a comment or review on social media that negatively impacts a persons business. It is up to the public to judge her reasoning and respond as they like. I choose to ignore it, you choose to create a thread on it, other may choose to support her and others may stop visiting her FB page due to her views. The whole point of social media is that society judges her comment and can choose to react however they want. If she breaks the law I say prosecute her to the full extent possible but as I said I doubt anyone in law enforcement will take her threat seriously. If the owner thinks he has suffered libel or slander damages then sue her and take her to court.

Going by the recent behavior of liberals, I would consider it incitement to riot.

WHAT bloody "position with social media"? She's on bloody Facebook, so the **** are you. If you must have a yes or no it's yes. I support anybody's right to say what they want about anybody short of libel. If your politics are such that you support a man who has gratuitously killed going on a quarter-million of his fellow citizens through pure stubbornness you're ****** right I think she should use social media or any other legal means to destroy his business just like I would be if he was a fracking Nazi (no insult to Trumpers intended, just my opinion)

Has it really come to this in America, don't we have free speech anymore?

How did I run from the question? In the first line I said I support her right to post a comment or review on social media to negatively impact that persons business.

    Here’s your simple answer.

I support her right to do it. First amendment.

I can’t comment on her choice to do it because I haven’t seen what she’s actually done.

Sometimes, it's easier to understand an argument by looking at the converse.

In this case, would it be okay for her to use her position as a FB page administrator to RECOMMEND his business? If so, then it should be acceptable for her to NOT RECOMMEND the restaurant. Beyond that, it's up to the general public to do their own due diligence and not blindly follow someone's else's position on important matters.

Okay, if this were a face to face conversation, this is the point where I'd back away out of range of the spittle. You're at about an 8 on the melodrama scale, and I try not to engage with anyone at 5 or above. You have a nice day, now.

There is a VERY strong interest by the right to make competence the standard for acceptance into academia. The fact of the matter is that adherence to ideology is the metric used and it shows by the rising incompetence of those in academia.

For example, I imagine that there were hundreds of conservatives more qualified for your position than yourself but you did not have to compete against them. They were removed from the equation due to the bigotry of the academy. I on the other hand got my position by outcompeting ALL of my competitors REGARDLESS of their political ideology.

Do some reading on how communism begins and you’ll see the similarities of what’s currently happening in America. Might I suggest this for starters and yes, have a nice day.

“The author of this absorbing memoir was a misfit in the most misfit-intolerant place on earth. Coming of age during the Cultural Revolution, Kang kept secret diaries, disdained the political sloganeering at his university and was sent away for requesting the suspect novel Doctor Zhivago—crimes that landed him a three-year prison term and resettlement in a peasant commune where the work was almost as backbreaking as in the camps.”

You are accusing everyone of dodging but I thought I totally answered your question. What is the dodge I made and where did I dodge too?

You said she had a legal right you did not say if you support her using her social media position to attempt to destroy a mans business because she disagrees with his politics .
    Do you? Yes or no?

Well I didn't say legal right but yes I support her use of social media to try to negatively impact a business. I leave reviews for tons of things from amazon to trip advisor reviews. If I leave a negative review it is my intention to negatively impact that business. Recently I purchased masks from Amazon. The seller said the mask were shipped locally and would arrive within 7 days. When I received the tracking it was coming from China. I complained immediately to Amazon and when the item never arrived I left a scathing review hoping to negatively impact that business. If I had an active FB page I would probably have left a negative comment there too.

    You still dodged the question.
Do you support her using her social media position to destroy a mans business

BECAUSE SHE DISAGREES WITH HIS POLITICS?

    Yes or no?

You get it together, thank you very much. We are spoiled here in America. In most of the world, politics is not usually an academic debate, politics is often life and death. Some politics, like Nazism or Stalinism frex, goes beyond different views. You're not smart, moral or virtuous if you think we need to kill 5/6 of our population OR if you support the right of a ****** idiot to kill literally hundreds of thousands of people and then keep on killing them just because he won't admit he was wrong. (Again, no insult intended here)
