Nonsense, Paul made frequent reference to Jesus as a real historical person (Romans 1:3; Romans 4:24-25; Romans 6:4-9; 1 Corinthians 6:14; 9:5; 11:23-25; 15:3-8; 2 Corinthians 4:14; 10:1; Galatians 1:1,19; 4:4; 6:12; Philippians 2:8; 3:18; 1 Thessalonians 2:14-15; 4:14). Paul referred or alluded to the Jesus tradition on numerous occasions, a few examples being 1 Corinthians 7:10-11; 9:14; 11:23-26; and 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17.
Or incest, or many other sins. Homosexuality was a non-issue to Jesus' mainly Jewish audiences, it was to Paul's Gentile audiences, which is why he discussed it and Jesus did not. Sodomy was about as accepted in Paul's ancient pagan world as it is today in the pagan West.
Not exactly sure what you're trying to get at here. I don't for a minute believe that Creepy Joe has any good intentions for the LGBT community. He's as transparent there are he is racist against minorities. I can't wait for him to suggest that if you're gay and you don't vote for Him (Biden) you aren't gay. That ought to put the thread to bed....
Perhaps you couldn't discern the sarcasm there.... I bet your gay MAGA sousing would totally agree...
That is correct but that does not mean they weren't important in the Biblical sense. People say, "well Jesus never said it was wrong so it must be ok" as a justification for immoral things but there are many, many things Jesus never spoke of as you mentioned.
Reckon if God thinks it is okay to order the murder of people just because he's disgusted by what they do in the bedroom, God is far more disgusting and perverse. Way worse than your gay neighbor.
The language is fitting... On Earth, a 'marriage' (husband and bride) is meant to be a model for the eventual Heavenly 'marriage' between Jesus and his Church.
What sin might have been paramount at Sodom is NOT the issue. Those events very clearly had NOTHING to do with the supportive and committed relationship between two people. Suggesting that the story of Sodom had ANYTHING AT ALL to say about that is where the total nonsense comes to the fore. In fact, it's interesting that the very next passages recount Lot having drunken sex with his daughters, resulting in lineages seriously blessed by god, as well as was Lot (according to the Bible). These events point to a God not nearly so strapped to the laws humans enacted - a rejection of Leviticus law in particular. In addition to that, the punishment of Lot's wife was not for breaking a law enacted by man. What I'd like to know is what kind of man Lot was that he would offer up his daughters to be raped by a crowd of men clearly set on murder.
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is very similar to the story in Judges 19:15-25. It's clear what the designs of the men were in Judges. Sexual rape as they ended up raping the concubine in Judges. Same word usage in Genesis with Sodom and Gomorrah. So, it's not about hospitality like you describe hospitality. The people of Sodom and Gomorrah were inhospitable by wanting to sexual rape the two angels of God. The men were possibly switch hitters and so were the women. Gay and lesbian. I once knew a girl who was lesbian. She would say that every once in a while, she wanted sex with a man, the real thing. Go figure. Sodom and Gomorrah had everything to do with the inhospitable act of rape and homosexual rape at that.
The MODERN distorted version is homophobic but that is NOT what it was BEFORE 1946! https://www.forgeonline.org/blog/2019/3/8/what-about-romans-124-27 So the Bible condemns Pederasty but NOT homosexuality! Now let's look at where the Bible ENDORSES homosexuality! The story of David (the future Kind David) and his LOVER Johnathon is well worth reading since it is clear that those two were gay. http://www.wouldjesusdiscriminate.org/biblical_evidence/david_jonathan.html Nothing ambiguous about that verse given that they were weeping in each other's arms that they were being forced to separate. But perhaps the most IRONIC is this bible passage from Ruth 1:16-17 that has been used by HETEROSEXUAL couples in their MARRIAGE vows. http://web.mit.edu/jywang/www/cef/B...re you go I will, death separates you and me." The famous Till Death Do Us Part marriage vow is what Ruth was saying to HER lover, Naomi! In essence the Bible clearly shows that gays LOVE one another deeply and sincerely in those passages. The modern DISTORTION of the bible to being anti-gay is a PERVERSION of the original. FACTS matter!
The verses I quoted speak of the practice as being detestable. I would say that is synonymous with sinful. The Koran is much clearer on this as it is a capital crime. My view is if one is homosexual , then maybe these are not the faiths for you. My other view is that it is in my interest for other men to be homosexual as this frees up more women for me so my end game is tactical not faith driven.
As far as I know, the quran doesn't mention homosexuality, but it's strictly forbidden in the hadith, other sacred texts of Islam. Some dishonnest Islam apologist could pretend it hasn't anything to do with Islam to be against homosexuality, as it's not mentionned in the quran, and it would be true if quranist muslims had any demographic importance.
