    https://www.forbes.com/sites/lizfra...d-in-latest-skinny-proposal-what-happens-now/

So Republicans in the senate wait 2 months before doing anything in regards to Corona relief, they then say how they want another round of direct payments and Democrats agree. The bill stalls because Republicans won't move from 1 trillion and now they're trying to pass a skinny bill that doesn't have a direct payment in it even though they've said that's something everyone agreed with.

With that said it's looking like they've never actually wanted another direct payment based on their actions imo.... what do you think?

Out of curiosity, how do you differentiate between the concept of it stalling because Republicans wont move from 1 trillion, versus it stalling due to Democrats refusing to move from 3 trillion?

I don't think that anyone in Congress wants another direct check. That's why all of them delayed, delayed, delayed and then they went on vacation.

I think it would be nice if the people got another round of stimulus money.

But with the bunch in Congress, no one wants to be the one to sign off on a plan that is very expensive and then the coronavirus is cured soon thereafter. They still think that we will have a cure by 2021.

Some republicans support it. Some oppose it. I am not a republican bu I generally oppose a second round at this point in time. Maybe closer to or after Christmas. I will gladly take the money to offset the drop in purchasing power from all the stimulus spending in recent years, but I don't really want or need it.

I didn't want the first payments. I've always just wanted America to go back to work with assistance for the elderly and other high risk people.

The best time to release the payments would be one week before the election. Mail everyone a check with Donald Trump’s signature on it and tie up the post office inundated with all those fraudulently cast mail-in votes.

I'm not eligible to receive any of the benefits, but generally support it. If you're going to shut down small businesses, then they need help. We need to help them out so they can feed their families.

It's a moral obligation the House completely failed America on because they are too insistent upon adding trillions of pork to the bill that are irrelevant.

Only on one portion. Your answer is incomplete, since it ignores all the completely unrelated pork (which I've described elsewhere) they insist gets included in the bill.

We could easily conclude that the House is withholding aid because they want to donate $30 million to the Endowment of the Arts, by example.

    How you ask?

One side proposed a plan in March then when negotiations started said they would go from 3t to 2t......

The other waited until 2 weeks before the old relief package was set to expire and offered a 1T plan and never moved off that number...

Which one sounds like they're giving a genuine effort of the 2?

To not do a second round when small businesses are actually open now seems like an unfair advantage for the mega corporations like walmart

But the Senate majority leader said he supports it and yet it's not in his skinny bill...... why?

I really fail to see how being open creates an unfair advantage. It is when they were closed, the advantage existed.

I think we should never have shut down the economy to begin with. Now we have the government arguing over how to remedy a problem it created.

Read what's in the bloated House version and maybe you'll understand.

Since people are returning to work, they have spending money. Stimulus has been dragged out over months. I think some people aren't getting theirs until September. The reason there was no big measurable boost was because it was sent piecemeal.

He can keep things from coming to a vote, but otherwise, no he doesn't write every piece of legislation that comes from the Senate.

Put them to the test. Just make the bill about direct federal unemployment payments and nothing else, no far out unrelated attachments of any kind for either side, and no pork.

Just make it about the checks unemployed people get, and absolutely nothing else. Let the crisis go to waste politically.

See what the congoress would do on a straight, honest bill for once.
