For weeks, state legislators and health care providers across the country have called on the Trump administration to help with the lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) available to fight the coronavirus pandemic. The Trump administration has meanwhile argued it is the states’ responsibility to procure PPE, a stance that has led states to compete with one another for supplies — and that has led to confusion on the part of suppliers. When President Trump took office in 2017, his team stopped work on new federal regulations that would have forced the health care industry to prepare for an airborne infectious disease pandemic such as COVID-19. That decision is documented in federal records reviewed by NPR. "If that rule had gone into effect, then every hospital, every nursing home would essentially have to have a plan where they made sure they had enough respirators and they were prepared for this sort of pandemic," said David Michaels, who was head of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration until January 2017. --------- This is the story of another avoidable tragedy in the Trump administration’s bungling fight against the coronavirus. It draws from internal emails and memos, a federal whistleblower complaint, and congressional testimony by federal officials and private executives. That record provides a startling glimpse behind the scenes of an administration deaf to timely and dire warnings beginning in January about the need to accelerate N95 mask procurement and production to protect healthcare workers. Despite these urgent appeals the Department of Health and Human Services dragged its feet until the middle of March before signing contracts to buy significant quantities of masks. The president failed to use his powers under the Defense Production Act to require mask production until April — and even then in quantities far below the nation’s need.
it could have been avoided had obama and biden refilled the nation stockpile. Trump had to refill in in record time, organized a nation plan when a handful of states had issues and raised some concern to ensure the states go it
obama and biden has 7, it would have taken 3 years to refill it...according to experts. Trump was able to do it in one while also backing up states.
we have more then enough...and he created the Pandemic Supply Task fore to ensure the states that needed it the most for it first. He mobilized the nation to create them...GM, Ford, 3M company after company...something we haven’t seen since FDR. obama and biden just used them up...and their own selfish reasons failed to restock
LOL, Obama did all he could to properly transition the administration, but Trump who doesn't like to read anything, wouldn't have it.
hahahahah that's laughable...we have notes from the Obamagate gang stating that is 100 percent false.
unles you think Susan Rice is lying...Obama and Biden made sure that the Trump admin did not have smooth transition...it was the insurance policy that the Obamagate gangster promised his girlfriend Lisa Page https://www.politico.com/news/2020/...-email-sent-on-trumps-inauguration-day-267998
Ok...suppose you don't trust Susan Rice....I don't blame you really...I don't...she's known to be a liar...but then again....she was in the Obama/Biden Regime....is that the sort of people we can expect from Joe? Good reason not to vote for Joe
Pretty soon they will be paying you to take them since Trump missed the window when they were needed. They may even throw in a free ventilator. ------------ Prices for masks are “all over the place”, said Rob Bailey, founder of supply chain data automation company BackboneAI, who has found masks on sale for between $3.50 and $7 in his work with groups sourcing PPE. https://www.ft.com/content/22430f34-cb50-4f43-80eb-e2a28b88078e
I shudder when I think of what masks you get at Sam's Club for this price. Do you know anything about procedure masks certifications? ASTM levels 1, 2, and 3? I bet the ones at Sam's Club aren't even medical grade. The vast majority of masks sold directly to consumers in the USA, aren't.
Dang, and this was news for years....sadly some people just want to keep that sort of thing going....some don't...some believe in the Republic
So now you are saying the masks you want everybody to wear won't help anybody? Like I said, democrats really need to make up their minds. It is foolish to plead with everybody to wear a mask and then turn around and say the masks are no good.
