Luciana Borio was director for medical and biodefense preparedness on Trump’s National Security Council until she left last year before the pandemic. She is now vice president of the technical staff at In-Q-Tel, the Central Intelligence Agency’s investment arm, and a senior fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations.

There’s also Rick Bright, an immunologist and vaccine researcher, who was ousted by Trump political appointees in April as the director of the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority. Bright, a civil servant who had led the agency since 2016, alleged in a whistleblower complaint and testified under oath before Congress that he was pushed aside after he strongly objected to Trump’s insistence that his agency support widespread access to chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine, two potentially dangerous drugs that the president spent weeks peddling in the spring as a potential cure for covid-19.

It's a good sign to see Old Joe bringing back some folks who were ousted for rejecting Trump's lies. I expect him to try to find an acceptable Repub to serve in his cabinet as Obama did. The establishment Repubs need to have the legitimacy restored while the Trumpists are made irrelevant.

I'm guessing that after Jan 20 and the inauguration, Biden will retain Dr. Fauci as well.

It's good to see that Biden is taking this virus very seriously and is hiring competent people.

To do what exactly? Sit around and wait for a vaccine? Trump has already taken care of everything.

I'm still waiting for Biden's magic covid-19 plan. Please tell me its more than just waiting for a vaccine (a vaccine that trump helped to speed up the process for)

And do what differently? WTF does showing empathy have to do with combating the virus?

Retain him or rehire him. Though Fauci isn't a Trump alum. Fauci was there way before Capt. COVID arrived.

Fauci won't criticize the Biden celebrations at all, isn't that funny. I imagine he is a little richer now.

It was predicted to go up in the winter regardless of what we did, they said this from the beginning.

    Just wow.

Hey maybe if we all hold hands and hum softly our love will stop the virus.

What exactly do you think it is that Trump is authorized to do. I'm sorry but going on television and crying doesn't fix anything.

showing empathy is one of Trump's biggest flaws, he just can't do it, to Trump everything is about himself, his ego is just to fragile

Who cares? Empathy doesn't fix squat. My car doesn't get fixed cause you feel bad about it.

Everything. You take Trump advice and pretend it doesent exist then you get super spreaders. This is exactly why he had to go, he condoned this logic.

Part of leading is getting people to show empathy to a cause.

you mean the ones with people wearing masks - Biden is pushing to wear masks, he is not responsible for those that do not, that is all on Trump

Empathy is important in a leader... but that does explain why some like Trump's lack of it....

Why, did Trump forbid them to wear a mask. I also love how the entire spread of the virus is being blamed on a couple of Trump rallys

Trump made masks anti-Trump, that caused many republicans not to wear them, Trump was a horrible leader

Not if you are to listen. When listening its your responsibility to follow instructions..And trumps instructions were to not wear masks. Thus making him a failed leader not worthy of being listened to.
