Slower growth and aging U.S.Population. Threat to the economy.

The U.S. population is on pace for it's slowest growth in a century. The number of Americans will increase by only 700,000 or 0.2% in 2020.the slowest growth since 1918 and the Spanish flu and WW1. With the coronavirus expected to kill 540,000 through the end of April 2021, a declining birth rate resulting in 500,000 fewer births next year and immigration to the USA down by 84% compared to 2019. The economy will be facing a pretty dismal future. Fewer younger people will result in less demand for new homes, appliances, automobiles, clothing less vacations and hotel stays and all other goods and commodities. With mortality increasing and birth rates declining it poses a severe threat to the future economic prosperity of the country. The Census Bureau estimated the population only grew by 8% in the past decade, the slowest growth since the 1930's and the depression. We have an aging population with the number of retirees rising by 37% in the past decade while the fertility rate has fallen to it's lowest level since the government began tracking it in the early 1900's.

 

Wouldn't that solve some of the left's concerns? Fewer people mean less CO2 production.

 

Does not paint a very rosy picture for the countries future.

 

It will take decades to undo Trump's mess of a presidency.

 

I fail to see anything in there that really bothers me. For many years they predicted that end of civilization as we know it would be the result of over population.

 

More retirees less workers to help support them paying into Social Security, there's one really bad aspect.

 

The democrats will soon allow all immigrants into the nation so our population should be just around China's in the next four years.

Biden is going to completely open the border up.

 

But it is supposed to be a self sustaining program. That likely means there will have to be some reforms. People might even have to start taking responsibility for themselves.

 

People earning $15 an hour and less which was over 40% of the working population PRIOR TO THE PANDEMIC cannot survive in retirement without Social Security. They do not earn enough to set aside money for retirement.

 

Yeah, America First. Progressives will destroy that.

 

Well we have been spending money the, country does not have all year, right to the national debt.

 

I thought it would simply allow more room for the DNC darlings south of the border, you'd think they'd all be excited!!

 

Covid certainly cleaned up some of the SS roles. But less people is what Leftists want. Less white people that is. They will say the solution is millions of geniuses to our south.

Also, if anyone is wondering about birth rates, look no further than progressive ideology that values personal satisfaction over families. White progressives are the least to actually procreate. They’re self breeding themselves out of existence.

 

I wonder why that is why there is all this chatter from some elites that older Americans over 75 shouldn't be given the vaccine? Others say blacks are the largest group of Covid death's and they should should get it before nursing homes.

Blacks, Hispanics and those over 75 all have higher morbidity rates from Covid deaths, they should all be prioritized.
