I guess it depends on if the Republicans want to be kooks or actually taken seriously. It might actually be best if the mouth breathers like MTG split off and form their own party. It would at least give non-tin foil Republicans a place to go while still giving the kooks a place as well.
The GOP as been through this already, I dont see them having the balls the way they had many years ago!.....Hell their base is willing to kill and shoot their own! Thanks NRA! https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2021/01/29/gop-john-birch-society-trump/?arc404=true https://www.usatoday.com/story/opin...ldwater-john-birch-society-column/5616711002/ https://www.beaconjournal.com/story...e-successfully-rejected-extremists/114004802/
I think the premise of the poll is flawed. If Greene is the future of the party, the party has no future. If the goal is a civil war , then Greene is your gal.
I couldn't vote in the poll because the future of the Republican Party is not either one of those two.... If the GOP has much of a future at all (highly debatable at this point), it is probably in senators like Tom Cotton and Marco Rubio. It's too early yet to make accurate predictions about whether Joe Biden and his "Geriatric Nurse", Kamala, will make such an ASS out of everything they touch that voters will put the House and/or Senate back under Republican control. And, four years from now (a virtual ETERNITY) will probably bring forth new, far more realistic, intelligent Democrat contenders before voters. Candidates like Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard would be very, VERY hard for any Republican to beat! It is likely that, by 2024, the 'idiot-fringe' of race-hating neo-socialism will have played itself out in this country and -- hopefully -- we'll dispense with all this radical, masochistic, America-hating insanity.... If so, that may indeed pave the way forward for a Rubio-Cotton ticket, or, a Yang-Gabbard ticket. Let's HOPE so, because damn near ANYTHING would be better than to face another election like the one we had in 2020.... We'd better start getting this whole fugged-up thing 'repaired' -- and soon! Our opponents grow stronger and more capable every day.... . "Dude! What's the RUSH...?!"
Yeah, neither. The next time we have a presidential election, Republicans have to be able to WIN... and they won't win with either of those two....
The poll question is a bit ridiculous. It's like saying, what is the future of the Democratic party? Ilhan Omar or Joe Manchin?
Actually, you pose an interesting question. I wouldn't put ANYTHING past today's insanely deranged, delusional Democrat Party....
I guess I should have been a little more clear. I am speaking in terms of positions, and methods. Not the actual people. Sorry if that wasnt clear. Will the GOP go full boar crazy, so much so that they can no longer be engaged as a serious political party, but instead a threat to those around them? Or a return to reasonable conservative stances of limited government and regulation, lower taxes, etc etc. I'm pretty sure the future of the DEM party will continue to take left of center policies.
In the past two decades, BOTH parties have lost members. I hope the time is right for a a more centrist, third party to emerge - cause what we got now is just the Hatfields and McCoys battling and trampling everyone else in the process. Hoping that Biden can sort of tamp down the fire just by being less of a lightning rod than the Orange Dude. If that's all he succeeds in doing, I'll call it success. The bar has gotten that low.
I hear this all the time.....How do you have a 3rd party when the have to caucus with either side? I mean it sounds good in theory, but cant work.
OK well why can't you accept my Democratic choices as representing positions and methods, not the actual people? So Ilhan Omar or Joe Manchin. Which is it?
Neither. Both are outliers. One was elected because her daddy and the other is a carpet bagger who ran in an heavy GOP district against a democrat who quit the race and fled the state when his marriage fell apart (and who still managed to get around 25% of the vote)
She is certainly one of the most reasonable. Sadly, I think the GOP is going to go the other way. They are going to go full Trumpism ( maybe not entirely Trump though ) and full on conspiracy mode. My personal opinion, is that the union is toast. It just hasn't caught up yet. But I think were seeing the end in some way. And that there will sometime in the next 10 years, be huge wide spread political violence in America. I hope I am wrong.
I share your fears. The sad part is that many of our political leaders (Democrat and Republican) don't seem to care about the direction our country is going in.
Maybe. But only one party has gone off the complete deep end to embrace lies and conspiracies. And that's the GOP. I do not believe its possible to draw a moral equivalency between the two parties anymore. The GOP has clearly gone batshat crazy.
We can't have a third party in this system. It will always be regarded as a spoiler by voters on both sides. We would need to move away from this winner-take-all model to something like the parliamentary model, where a percentage of the popular vote translates to a percentage of representation for each party.
