AOC has raised $2 million for Texas as of a hour ago and she's headed to TX today to help TX Reps hand out emergency supplies etc.

Meanwhile Cancun Cruz is celebrating achieving a campaign promise by successfully deporting 2 Hispanic children to Mexico (thanks to the Onion for this one, a classic)

She needs as many of them alive as possible for when she kills the airline industry. It takes more than ONE pilot to operate stuff without engines

if he wants to leave for a vacation during a crisis and come back the next afternoon and pretend it has nothing to do with him being called out, then oh well, he gets whatever negative publicity he deserves for it

Uh, oh, can't bring yourself to admit that AOC is doing a good thing here? So, you have to deflect to RW caricatures of her.

If the shoe is on the other foot, and blue states are in trouble because of some natural disaster, GOPers usually claim that blue states are financially irresponsible and should help themselves. Can we see a difference here in attitude?

Oh, and btw I am not a big fan of AOC, she seems a little naive, especially when it comes to science. However, she seems to have the heart in the right place.

no deflection. There is another thread about this and I clicked like in the OP. It's hard not to take an opportunity to rip on the green new deal (just can't help myself), however, for the record, I think THIS particular thing she's doing is a good thing.

Lets chat a bit about what actually happens to money in these types of situations.

We start with $2,000,000 in donations, but there's always fees to take off the top.
-$350,000 for misc legal services (close personal friends/relations of AOC)
-$125,000 for the payment processor (also a campaign donor)
-$85,000 for accounting services (more campaign donors)
-$65,000 for marketing services (done by AOC's boyfriend)
-$20,000 for travel expenses (bug eyes don't fly coach and neither does her entourage)
-$12,000 for clothing (AOC will need a new outfit for her big press event)

So now we're sitting on about $1.3M but where is that money going?
It wont just go to "Texas" or "Texans" despite whatever they claim in their press releases this money will be specifically directed and you can expect ideology will be the driving force. A large amount will undoubtedly go to various race hysteria groups promoting Black and Hispanic supremacy, there will probably be some sizeable sum awarded to something something 'climate research', various district offices posing progressive primary challengers will get a piece without question, and of course all of them will be kicking a bit of their slush right back to the DNC or supporting PACs.

Your source for the claim that these funds were taken out of the donations?

If ALL politicians did more of that along with less partisan chest thumping and tit-for-tat pre-school tantrums, they might find their negative ratings among the population improving a bit.

So, you are claiming that AOC will embezzle the donations without any evidence? Maybe we've all been so disillusioned by the Trumper scams, like Trump U, the Trump Veteran fundraising, the Colfage and Bannon wall, the post-election "fight" donations, etc, that we always assume the worst.

Oh, you can be sure of one thing, AOC is not going to be quiet about it. She'll rub it into Republican's faces.

Ill agree that she has good and noble intentions.

Are we supposed to pretend though that everybody else, especially on the conservative side, was just sitting on their thumbs through the whole ordeal?

Honest question, what is the money for? Most now have power restored. People went without power for 2-3 days and now it’s back on and weather is warming.

Not everyone on the conservative side, but two notable figures did, like Cruz and that mayor. And then there was the governor, trying to shift blame to renewables. Lame.....

If the AOC Teenaged Toddler has any smarts it will be for food and water supplies which they will likely have ship in from a "foreign " country like New Mexico.

I understand that Beano O'Rourk is holding out with relief supplies.

I don't know why I have this urge to make fun of him but he did come across as one dammed stupid arse during the POTUS primary.

Anyone else notice that the people in Texas had to line up and getbwater from a pope in the ground like 3rd world countries ? Reminds me of those commercials begging us for donations for African countries and they show some poor downtrodden African girl filling her plastic water can and the announcer says hiw your donation will save young Wammadoola and her family from drinking Schiest infested water if you donate to Dreams Of Water ........

When has a dollar ever flowed through a politicians fingers without a few dimes being nipped along the way? You think Republicans are the only ones that do it? Pelosi, AOC, Omar, Waters, Schiff, I can go on, they've all got a long history of shifting money to their friends, family, and donors - its in their damn FEC filings plus its usually legal that's why they all do it. And its not just campaign funds, remember the Obama Admin's DOE Green loans program? How many billions went to people who were donors to his campaign? For every incident of a Republican playing fast & loose with other people's money I can throw you one Democrat doing the exact same thing. They each complain when the other does it but have you noticed how neither of them ever change laws to put a stop to it, haha.

But anyways - just because media uses the word 'charity' doesn't mean there actually is one; officially registered and audited. Read her own tweets, she specifically indicates that shes raising funds for X Y and Z, and the X Y and Z includes groups that are not charities but just organizations supporting things she likes. Politico never do their diligence, they never want to dig deeper than a headline, but I do. Not only does AOC & Co. have a history of funneling money to their own benefit (re Chakrabarti and the PACs BNC-16 and JD-17) but we know that ActBlue (her payment processor in this instance) also has a history of misappropriating its contributions and excluding designated recipients.

Its just not reasonable to expect the entirety of $1 donated dollar to end up where you think its being donated. So many fingers can dip into that till along the way and most of them are perfectly legal.
