Dems wanted a LOT more than that.

The point here is that they got somehting through the legislature DESPITE the major push against it by the GOP.

And, the GOP has contributed NOTHING but scorched Earth opposition to all related safety ideas.

Much of this makes no sense. Personal responsibility should be a key factor...... That is why background checks are critical. I still think that every applicant should go through manditory shooting lessons and gun safety classes. Sadly , we live in an instant gratification society.......

and the GOP have only finessed their obstructive behavior. Their primary interest seem to be control and power.

We were a Christian nation, and it was lovely then.
When did Billy Graham call for greater slaughter?
We're not a Christian nation anymore, so what Christian principles are you talking about? If we were a Christian nation, the people would be repenting for the sins this nation has committed, but they're not.
And Gandhi is nothing compared to the tens of thousands of Saints known and unknown. They're the ones that gave everything, including their lives for the welfare of others as well as for their eternal souls.

The only thing that stopped them was... themselves.
Any issue you have with the NICS, you need to take up with the people who enacted it.
I -expect- my congressman to vote against all of the unnecessary and ineffective restrictions you want to lay on the rights of the law abiding - its why I voted for him.

We are as much of a Christian nation today as we've been for many many years.

Billy Graham worked on Nixon to increase the slaughter in Vietnam. Nixon saw him as an advisor. BG had significant White House influence for a long time.

Judging by what YOU happen to think Christians SHOULD be is preposterous. It's no beter than judging New Agers by what YOU think New Agers should be like or what YOU think Satanists should be like.

I made NO suggestion that "saints" aren't good. I'm all for "saints".

My point is that your religion does NOT have a monopoly of some sort. Nor is your religion making any real attempt to be saintish.

No, that is absolutely not true.

Democrats had majorities for better regulation on guns, and it was killed by Republicans - and this happened many times over. In most cases it never got to the point of a vote, because the outcome was known.

This is one of the results of the current filibuster rules. A party can demand cloture without doing more than writing a memo.

Yes. I am FULLY aware that you are absolutely against ALL moves toward reducing the gun slaughter in America.

That's what I've been pointing out as a general characteristic of the GOP over the last few decades.

I'll tell you what God can't do. God cannot negate from His creation since He is a pure Creative Force. Every destruction, and that includes natural disasters, are an extension of our own sins, since what we do and say will affect everyone and everything within our dimensional existence. Everything in this world is intertwined and bound together.

As for humanity, if God wanted to control man, he would have made robots and machines. But God is incapable of control, since that would put a limit on His Pure Love and Creative power so He gave humanity a free will. People can choose to be within His protective power and shield, or they can choose to be outside His protective power and shield.

Why not remove all restrictions........and sell them in your local pharmacy?? People seem so terrified of any restrictions....... even if they make sense.......... Maybe a return to the wild west would be enlightening. These fears hold folks psychologically captive. Owning weapons must offer a great deal of psychological reassurance.

The problem most people see is we lose rights by steps, usually baby steps. It's like one more oreo cookie, first thing you know there ain't no more cookies.

Do you think the laws being demanded would slow the carnage in gang ruled areas of our cities? That grocery store shooting would just be a slow weekend in Chicago. Do you really envision guns being eliminated there by another law? The ones already on the books are very stringent and have little to no effect.

If people are driven to slaughter others, they will do so whether they have guns or not. Better to be shot than hacked to death. As for gun laws, they will only deny the law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves. The criminals will always have guns.

I dost believe that to be free
we shouldn't give our guns to thee.

And thus protect our house and home
from all of those who like to roam,

    like animals so angrily,
    who tellest us so blatantly,

that we should never dare to stray,
for only they should have a say,

in what we do, but not as we please
while forcing us upon our knees,

to worship gods of lust and greed,
and things that we can never heed.

Now these are things we did not choose
And freedoms something we can't lose,

to liberal laws and swords so cruel
and brandished about by those who rule.

We enacted the Brady Bill which was pretty strong. It banned assault rifles, high cap mags, had a waiting period to buy a gun. During the celebration the comment from the people who had just won these concessions was that it was a good start. The ultimate goal is to ban private ownership of guns. One step at a time is a real strategy for both sides.

Your version of your religion isn't really on topic.

Also, the slaughter of Jericho, the slaughter of the Midianites, the slaughter of Noah, the slaughter of Iraq, the slaughter of Vietnam, the slaughter of those who don't believe in a very specific way that was the many inquisitions and persecutions in Europe, and other famous slaughters were done by those following your God.

There were other slaughters, too, but you are claiming your religion is the solution. I would oppose claims of a number of other religions or philosophies as being the solution, too. "Whataboutism" is not going to win you anything here.

And, in a number of those cases the people were following God so devoutly that they were chronicled in the Bible for us to follow.

I'm not saying your God is at fault. But, the idea that your religion is the only way or that it is purely creative is absolute BS. There isn't any "only" about it.

There are far less violent religions than Christianity - ones that we could learn from. In fact, I see no evidence that espousing your religion is some sort of solution to ANY Earthly problem.

And, I say that even though ther ARE solid moral precepts in the Bible - such as Matthew 25, verse about 30 on.

Just like many philosophies, Christianity COULD be good. But, that's not the issue.

Yes it does! I felt safe with the 22 next to me when I was young and sleeping alone on the first floor of our summer home. There was woodlands all around, and the screens on the windows were flimsy and anyone could come through.

Anyway I am adamantly against Americans giving up their guns because I know history, and that's how the Ottomans went about their genocides. They would first take the leaders as hostages, and then say they would release them when the guns were handed in. Once the people were disarmed, the Turks had free rein.

There has NEVER been any executive or legislative attempt to end private gun ownership in America. Ever.

That is a TOTALLY ficticious claim that you can NOT support.

This is a pure strawman fallacy, with you claiming that your opponent has an extremist objective that is not in evidence.

Any argument based on that strawman is pure sophistry.

You need to move back toward forms of logic that aren't so clearly fallacious.

    Please.

There is no question that they serve a purpose. No one is promoting removal all guns. That is totally unrealistic. (and foolish)

There should be some realistic and valid rules that apply to obtaining a weapon and handling one. Guns can have lethal consequences........so responsibility in weapon management is imperative. (MHO)

I've NEVER heard an argument that silly.

    - there is no move to take away people's guns.

    - South Korea has 0.2 guns per 100 civilians
Israel has 1 gun per 100 civilians.
The USA has 120 guns per 100 civilians

Does ANYBODY in the USA think we're in such danger that we need more than 100X as many guns as those countries need?

I mean, how many guns does one civilian actually need to be safe in America? And, if that is the case, why are we allowing America to be that HORRIBLE?

Your story of fear is total paranoia. And, absolutely nothing more.

Yet the slaughters were nothing compared to the pagans. As I wrote, man causes his own destruction. If in the OT God is projected as being the cause of the destruction, it's because it's the only way people could understand the consequences of their own actions.

Anyway the crimes we committed these past years are worse then anything in the past - it's just that the MSM covers them up. Bill Clinton bombed Belgrade for 78 days on the false pretense of genocide because Washington wanted to break up Yugoslavia. Then there was the lie of Libya, when Washington said they wanted to establish a no fly zone, and then proceeded to bomb the country and destroyed the wealthiest nation in Africa with the best social services.

Then we entered Syria and pretended we were fighting terrorists, when the real reason was to overthrow Assad who was the only secular leader in the Middle East. We supported the terrorists when it was to our benefit, even though there was a genocide of Christians going on at the rate of 300 a day. No mention of course in the MSM.

Had the Pope not asked Vladimir Putin to do something to stop Obama from bombing Damascus over the false flag chemical attack, the terrorists would have enter the city and it would have been the biggest massacre in history.

We not only destroyed Syria, we are also sanctioning the people today so they won't have medicine and goods, and now we are stealing its oil and also its wheat supply so the people can continue to suffer for having dared to go against us.

Nothing in the past, except maybe the Russian revolution with the killings of tens of millions of Christians by the Bolsheviks can compare to what we have done these past two decades.

Anyway things are only going to get worse.

Remember? This is the "whataboutism" that you don't get to use.

You made an absolute statement about your god and I gave evidence against that absolute. What others have done is totally irrelevant.

Your comment about Clinton is just plain false. That war came from a well formed agreement with European and other intel, and conformed to a joint agreement on what action should be taken.

The USA had NOTHING to gain in the war in the Balkans, and everyone was well aware of that. The Balkans war is the first war in history that was carried out for altruistic reasons.

There was PLENTY of news on the situation in Syria - which you do not describe in any kind of legitimate manner. Plus, it looks like your only dogi in the show was that you wanted MORE war to protect those of your own religion. That's just one more example of you wanting more war.

Your post here is highly supportive of exactly what I have been saying.
