They are racist institutions preserving and whitewashing primitive cultures. They test your blood to detirmine how indigenous you are like the Nazis with purity. It is sick and 99% of people hate the reservations and want native Americans to be assimilated to society. Native Americans don’t want special treatment or to be called either. the liberal elite are sick puppies.
I am sure someone with a casino on Indian land may think differently. I don't know what the Native American wants. And I married one.
While I agree that much of how they operate is unconstitutional, Native American reservations are more or less sovereign territories. We would have to break treaty with them (again!) in order to accomplish what you suggest. Its unnecessary anyway as Native Americans are US Citizens and may move off of the res whenever they wish.
It’s not fair to the rest of us and it fractures our great nation under God. the reservations gotta go period
View them as a private company. The only way they're meaningfully different is u have to have certain genetics to be involved. Which imo a company should be able to do if it wants (and I would prolly boycott them for it).
. If Aquarius knew Southern Indian tribes owned black slaves and fought for the Confederacy his head might explode. Cherokees in Oklahoma Indian territory had their own chapter of the "Knights of the Golden Circle" .
When I think of a native American today I think of a white person. All these white people today who may or may not have a tiny amount of Indian ancestry playing it for all it's worth. Indians have mostly intermarried and become a part of the larger society.
No. Those reservations were established by treaty, and I'm not sure in what way it's unfair to the rest of us.
. Evil cultural marxists have been busy destroying America's heritage by tearing down Confederate statues, memorials, etc I wonder if the leftist revolutionaries will destroy this Confederate memorial to this slave-owning Confederate General that was erected by the "Daughters of the Confederacy" But there may be a few Cherokees left in Oklahoma who might take offense considering he was also a famous Oklahoma Cherokee Chief. Stand Watie , was a leader of the Cherokee Nation. The nation allied with the Confederacy, and he was the only Native American to attain a general 's rank in the Civil War, Confederacy or Union. He commanded the Confederate Indian cavalry of the Army of the Trans-Mississippi, made up mostly of Cherokee, Muskogee and Seminole. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand_Watie The inscription reads: In Honor of General Stand Watie - only full blood Indian Brigadier General in the Confederate Army. This brave Cherokee with his heroic regiment rendered inestimable services to the Confederate Cause of Indian Territory. Born in Georgia, December 12, 1806, died in Cherokee Nation, September 9, 1871 A tribute to his memory by the Oklahoma Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy. "Lest We Forget" .
Treaties were made with Native Americans as they were sovereign nations, and they get benefits for entering into those treaties.....you want the White Man to speak with forked tongue again?
When cultural marxists recently began ' beating war drums' over the so-called "Tulsa race massacre"... my first thought was... Tulsa was home to several Oklahoma Indian Nations... and many of those 'Whites' the cutlural marxists were busy demonizing were probably descendants of Cherokees, Creeks, Osages, etc. In other words, cultural marxists [whether they realized it or not] were demonizing Native Americans. .
I do take issue with the concept of reservations, because it isn't the Indians land they do not own it because they cannot sell it. Nobody's allowed to own native Americans land which includes native Americans.
Absolutely yes but they're not allowed to. The bureau of Indian affairs, BIA will not permit anybody to buy land that is in the Indian reservation. People who live on the reservation refer to the bia is bossing Indians around that's what they do that's their purpose. If they can't sell the land they don't own the land it's owned by the government in there just permitted to live on it. This is an actual Injustice these people are getting the shaft and nobody knows about it.
The white man never spoke with a forked tongue. I am not even white, I am mixed race but whites are the most oppressed groups.
IME its entirely true that few Natives appreciate the BIA or even their own tribal elders who govern things like land ownership. The Natives I know view both as somewhere between corrupt and out for themselves to outright shills for the 'white man's' established oppression of Natives. I'll make no claims as to which is accurate because I don't have any first hand experience, but I do understand the basic problem regarding Native reservation land- if tribal members are allowed full ownership, they will eventually sell their land and it will no longer be Native. The most likely result of this would be the eventual finalized irradication of Native American culture as a practice and Native American's in general as their genetic heritage slowly fades into the rest of the population. I imagine, if I were Native (I am prolly somewhere around a few %, not enough to matter), I might value my geneological and cultural heritage being coercively preserved like this. But I would also be unahppy at being coerced.... IDK, its a complicated issue. What is somewhat less complicated is the trend where the reservations that refuse support from fedgov and instead become entrepreneurial with their resources (there are a few) tend to be more prosperous than those reservations that don't.
their genetic heritage slowly fading will happen anyway. The culture doesn't have to lots of people appreciate the culture. There are artists and Craftsman that participate in cultures that are thousands of years old. The culture would be preserved but more than that it would be woven into a greater tapestry. The melting pot doesn't erase cultures it alloys them. There is no reason reservations can't be prosperous with also allowing the natives to own the land. Owning the land does not equal dissolving of the culture.
Yes... YES!!! The "assimilation" of the native american society.... that just a covert word for destroying non-white culture / cultural genocide for the sake of extreme far right wing feels.
Sound like a guy who is pushing to steal their land and build oil pipelines or amusement parks on what little land they have left after all of the broken treaties they already got hosed on.
Those pesky Colerds again....lol....Reminds me of the scene in True Romance where Dennis Hopper is telling Christopher Walken that he is part eggplant....You’re killing me champ! Please tell me you are joking here....Lol
