The state of Mississippi may be close to getting Roe v Wade overturned. Well, using the word "overturned" may be going a little too far, but they could get a large concession. The state passed a law to reduce the abortion limit down to 15 weeks, and they plan to get the US Supreme Court to revisit it. A 15 week limit seems pretty reasonable, if anyone is on the fence about the issue. The newest law has been carefully crafted to challenge the Roe v Wade decision. This week the state of Mississippi formally asked the court to reverse its 1973 abortion decision. It's expected the Supreme Court will hear the case this Fall and issue a ruling by Spring.
"""may be close to getting Roe v Wade overturned.""' Repeat for 50 years and see where it gets ya ...
== -= 15 weeks does seem somewhat reasonable on the surface - I usually use 20 as it is closer to the mark but 15 is perhaps not a bad compromise ... from a moral perspective. From a legal perspective is a different bird .. what troubles me is the horrible arguments they likely used .. arguments which then become precident and can apply to other law. No details are supplied - and may well not be there as the Judges are not compelled to justify their decisions in some cases - and this is a big problem.
Possible as long as they allow a rape, incest, health of the mother exception. Sandra Day O'Conner pretty much chiseled those exceptions in stone in the many cases that came before her.
I think a better concession is individual choice but that’s a different issue. This is why people think republicans are out of touch with the rest of America. Not surprising to be sure but I also wonder the broader issues at stake. Will people listen to the courts on this?
It'll put doctors into a difficult position. A 16-week old fetus isn't a person with a mind, and the doctor takes care of the real patient in front of them. Many of them will put their real patients ahead of their own legal safety, but the integrity of the healthcare system will be compromised. And then desperate women will take poisons or tools to try to induce a miscarriage, causing more of a burden to the already taxed healthcare and legal systems not to mention their suffering. Roe v Wade is about privacy, but it's really a lot simpler than that. A fetus before about 20 weeks has no mind, and therefore deserves no rights.
. Abortion is not only horrific murder it's a CURSE on any country that allows it. Same with the legalization of other hideous evils and vile perversions... as in the "days of Noah" and "days of Lot" This time around most of the planet embraces this evil perverted degeneracy... and it will not go unpunished. https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Proverbs-11-21/ .
You would need to ask Sandy, but that pretty much comes up in most of these cases and is well fortified.
Get back to me the day God makes every uterus perfect and no woman ever has a miscarriage ... until then your "claim"" is bullcrap.
Cultural marxists are so ignorant about the one true Biblical God... they have no clue that their retorts against Him make no sense. .
Of course there would be exceptions for legitimate health circumstances. The Mississippi law makes exceptions if the fetus has health problems making it "incompatible with life" outside of the womb at full term, or if a pregnant woman's life or a "major bodily function" is threatened by pregnancy, but does not include exemptions for rape or incest. In the past, many of these pro-life bills have made exceptions for rape and incest, because that was seen as the only way to have any chance of getting the laws passed. 15 weeks though still gives the woman plenty of time if the pregnancy did indeed come about from rape or incest. (A woman who was raped knows there could be a pregnancy, and a pregnancy would be much more obvious in a younger girl due to her slender waist circumference)
Yes, if they weren't hypocrites they'd push for NO abortions.......but they don't want to look like the monters they are. , IF she's not in a coma, suffering PTSD, injured too severely to make a decision. WHY do you contend that women are NEVER injured in rape? All young girls have slender circumferences ?? WHAT? !!!!!!!!!!! What if they are not?? What if they don't "show" until 18 weeks??? See, despite what YOU believe, women are not clones of each other...and ignorance of pregnancy and women is no excuse...
No, you're just being ridiculous. Sometimes people can't push for the laws they ideally want but instead have to push for the laws that have any realistic chance of getting passed.
And I agreed !!!! That does not change the FACT that: FoxHastings said: ↑ Yes, if they weren't hypocrites they'd push for NO abortions
Well, the law will have little to no chance of passing muster without the rape/incest escape hatch. Republicans always seem to poison their own well with these abortion laws. One might start to suspect they write them knowing they will be struck down to keep the issue alive for campaigning.
I know, it's kind of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Either way pro-choicers will find some reason to criticize.
FoxHastings said: ↑ And WHO TF are YOU to determine that????/ You can't say here why you think you should Rule Over Women? Ya, how about a thread on your obsession with controlling women and all your many, many, many threads on the subject.....and why that is ....do you realize what this says about you? WHY do you contend that women are NEVER injured in rape?
"issue alive for campaigning" EXACTLY....they use it to keep the votes of one issue women hating voters....if they get abortion banned and women rights destroyed what would the run on ???
