Yes, it's a slow and steady creep. Death by a thousand cuts.

If you're determined to pretend it's still 2019, you can do it.

I know I keep repeating this, but it's not a local problem. It's happening everywhere - under all different Govts and politics.

    This!

They're in terror-driven denial. It's a very existential fear - and it's not just a fear of going hungry (because they chose to live in the middle of a big city and thus are completely helpless), it's a fear of the threat to their belief that Govt will always save them.

This is another example of their cognitive dissonance. When someone gradually - over a period of time - builds a supply while stocks are plentiful (and thus don't compromise their fellows) they're considered evil by those who couldn't be assed planning ahead. The same people who do all the PANIC BUYING, and thus compromise their fellows.

You can't make this stuff up.

Thank you for contributing the view from Europe. I suspect many here think it's an American issue.

Having said that, it's important to note that it's not a pandemic problem. The pandemic is just one of many contributors.

Starting today, he could dismantle the architecture of disempowerment.

Will he do that? Or will he double down on the disempowerment by giving them more money (aka, more dependence). And what will he do when he realises they can't eat money, and have no clue how to save themselves because he and his ilk insisted they never learn?

Our governor is a Democrat and the General Assembly is controlled by Democrats.

There's no need to move. All you have to do is throw the Leftists out of office.

And I'll keep repeating that I live in the United States of America and this should not be happening here and now. Worse yet, as I pointed out earlier, the Champagne Socialists in the Democratik Party squandered an entire year focusing on themselves instead of the concerns of the unwashed masses who can't find a package of chicken breasts in their grocery stores.

I get that you're angry about the local stuff .. but it's NOT about your politics, I can guarantee that. I'm a country with a Right Wing Govt, and it's the same here. Every country on earth (bar one) is experiencing this stuff .. and every possible iteration of Govts are affected.

While it would be nice to blame your leader and the Left for this, and it would be nice for me to be able to blame my leader and the Right .. it's just a distraction. Look at the bigger picture, and stay focused on that. Respond to the global stuff, because local stuff will be ameliorated momentarily here and there - regardless of who is in power in your neck of the woods. Biden will try to keep you all fed just as well as Trump would have. In those moments it will be very easy to forget there's more to it, and grow complacent.

Just finished cutting firewood a few minutes ago. What was propane per gallon? I haven’t purchased any for a couple years (for a tank heater).

Of course, he won't do THAT, and what you're talking about is something our politicians and politics can't solve. Our people are broken, and they can only be fixed on the human level.

And every time I here some idiot in this country bleat "freedumb" I'm reminded of just how bad things have gotten.

Yup, you definitely got it right in your assessment there. The uber-liberals who I work with have been DEAD SILENT about the federal government ever since the Biden Regime was installed. They still mutter some negative things about Trump every now and then, but are dead silent about Biden. They blame gas price increases on "the greedy corporations attempting to make up for lost revenue because of COVID", not saying a single thing about the Biden Regime policies that have caused the price increases.

As I've said before, the one uber-liberal coworker of mine FINALLY just the other day muttered the words "I'm beginning to wonder how good the vaccines are...", and that's only because two of his triple jabbed family members have now tested COVID-positive. These people don't think or care about something until they are personally negatively affected by that same something.

But as they sneer on, and remain in denial, I have been preparing for the inflation/shortage storm that's already hitting the mainland. Then, once they finally catch up and realize that the brown stuff has definitely hit the rotating air displacement machine, they will then be pissed off at ME for "hoarding" (iow, preparing ahead of time) rather than realizing their own faults. Uber-liberals cannot self-reflect and cannot accept personal blame for their problems; their problems are always the fault of someone or something else, and "daddy government" needs to "fix the problem" FOR them.

Let me put it this way - propane prices are the highest I've ever seen. Up at least 50% from last year.

I'll be back on the firewood detail ALL day tomorrow...

It has to do with the governments that are implementing the policies that are causing the issues... and that happens to include the Biden Regime. These issues are happening globally not only because nationalism is being replaced with globalism but because it is a global agenda to 6uild 6ack 6etter (and to "build back" requires destruction, and we're seeing that play out right now) and to implement a "new world order".

I'm not angry, crank, and I don't need Biden to keep me fed. What you don't understand is this is a country that possesses an abundance of natural, economic and human resources and this should not be happening here.

Oh, you're counting new cases all which occurred under Biden. The left can whine, cry and lie all they want about the Original China Virus, but the Extra Crispy ones known as delta and omicron came here with Biden running things. Who's your whipping boy now?
