I don't drink soda, not problem boycotting Coke or Pepsi?!! As far as McDonald's I have no problem boycotting them either?!! Let's stand behind Ukraine and boycott these companies, until they stop doing business in Russia?!!

Calls have been mounting for a boycott of McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo as the companies have thus far not joined the ranks of other major global firms in pulling their operations out of Russia.

Three Ukrainian supermarket chains announced they are removing Coca-Cola products from their store shelves and the hashtags #BoycottCocaCola, #BoycottPepsi and #BoycottMcDonalds were trending on Twitter over the weekend as customers vowed to shun their products so long as they continue to do business with Russia.

Dozens of big corporations including Apple and Netflix have halted operations in the country in the 10 days since President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale attack on Ukraine.

But, while many firms have taken a stand, several food and drink companies have stayed silent and refused to cut ties with Russia.

Major players including McDonald’s, Coca-Cola and PepsiCo are now coming under increasing pressure from both political figures and social media users to pull their business from the country.

If you drink bottled water the chances are its a Coke or Pepsi product or bottled at one of their plants.

I don't do business with any of these companies directly, but as a US tax payer, I am forced to subsidize them.

I'm not opposed to boycotts. However, I'm unclear on the "value" of this particular stance because Putin has already taken control of the Russia-controlled tv stations and protestors, even children, are being arrested. So, it would seem that this boycott will just hurt the Russian people that have no part and seemingly no "say" in what Putin is doing in the Ukraine. Many have already lost their children, but should we be working to help them lose their jobs too?

I'm not a foreign policy expert but it seems that hurting the innocent civilians in one lunatic's domain that doesn't impact him at all is counterintuitive and possibly counterproductive.

Anyone know the status of Adidas? I know they stopped sponsorship of the Russian football federation. Just asking because of the popularity of the brand in Russia.

the innocent Russians are the people that need to force a regime change in Russia. If they support a war criminal they can starve too.

nearly impossible to do given the current state of political ownership in Russia. All political parties are controlled by the Communist Party of Russia via the "Unity Party" with the government organized as a Russian version La Cosa Nostra

Not interested in boycotts, never have been. If Stalin himself had a sausage roll business and it was the best sausage roll in town, I'd be there late night for a feed.

It's quite ironic, really. All this 'stand with ukraine' crap when it is ukraine that was killing their own people for the last 8 years. Killing women. Killing children. Shelling schools.

And now the collective West says "boycott McDonald's because they do business in Russia".

Well hell, they do business in Ukraine too yet nobody said a damn thing for the last 8 years.

It's even more stupid since McDonald's was the first Western company to enter the Russian market after the Soviet Union of communists failed.

Now the West acts like communists while McDonald's does capitalism in Russia.

first of all the party is called united russia not the "unity party", second of all the kprf is not the same thing as united russia and third of all none of that would inherently prevent regime change

That is just stupid. All that would do is hurt the regular people of Russia, not Putin. If anything it would encourage them to turn more towards Putin in search of answers and relief.

These are boycotts in Ukraine by the way because those companies are not leaving Russia. But remember everyone has their own crappy brands of everything. Watch a video of a foreign grocery store visit and more than likely all this stuff will be in a small American section with very limited selection, some that we dont have in America even. They have a presence everywhere, but its limited; not like walking into an American grocery store where all these products are front and center.

As you can see they have plenty of foreign products, but its mostly domestic stuff. Also most foreign products in other countries are super directed to the product they sell in.

Same in Japan as example, you have some foreign options but it is mostly domestic products.

Good point.... this is a tough call, but I sort of feel that businesses that GENERALLY do not help Russia itself generate income or improve military capabilities should be allowed to continue to do business in Russia...

If you think of it this way, these are American companies taking money from Russians when doing business in Russia..

But I like that Ukrainian stores are discontinuing stocking these products... We'll see if that impacts company decisions going forward..

There is no evidence of Genocide in Ukraine unless you are talking about the two breadaway regions that are controlled by Russian seperatists.

I don't use any of these products so my boycott won't change anything. But I'd rather have you boycott federal government which might change all kinds of things.

Yeah, people dressing how they want is really offensive. Way more offensive than an war of aggression started by an unhinged authoritarian dictator.

Yeah, I'm talking about the 2 regions in Ukraine that the Ukrainian government has been committing genocide in for the last 8 years. It's the whole point of the *******ned war there now.

You actually fell for that propaganda bull ****? Really? There are people who fall for that? Hm, wonder why Russia has refused to show up in court to argue their case? How strong can their case be if they won't even show up?
