source: Ohio State University student leader says he would 'love' for Black people to be taught 'they are superior'

Since we're now apparently doing threads (and news articles) about stupid sh*t teens and young adults say / do, meet John Fuller, a racist.

Here's a refreshing take on the legal issues at stake:

Unfortunately, I suspect Ohio State University would not be as keen to defend the student's free speech rights if it were a white student saying that he believed white people are superior.

    Prove me wrong, they’re not.

They’re only claim to fame is victmhood and votes.

Better yet, show me what a day would look like if whites never existed. My guess is better fitting loin clothes and sharper spears.

Maybe this is just my 'privledge' (lol) talking, but it doesnt bother me in the slightest that some dood thinks he (or his race) is superior.

And frankly Im glad to know who does think such things.

Though it certainly should be alarming when its the people teaching our kids to believe such nonsense.

Can a black person show us how they are superior. Just the claim is the definition of being racist.
Show me a successful Black Country, island, neighborhood or housing complex. They need excuses why not knowing the answer to 2+2 is not their fault.

btw, that they constantly and never endlessly claim something is racist only proves they can’t stand on their own merits unless we talk about the NBA.

I thought you lot had freedom of speech?

Black people do seem to be superior in running, jumping, etc. and our professional sports teams show that.
But if you buy into that logic, then would white people be superior at economics and business? Maybe "Asian people are superior at math and science" would be appropriate. While saying "________ people are superior" is racist by definition, is saying "______ people are superior at _________" racist or is it just stating a fact based on observation?

And the correct consequence would be???

Oh! That is right! Not telling him he is being an arse because that would be like, you know, having an actual conversation with the person. No it is to run to a board like this boo hoo about how the white right is being picked on.

Oh, I don't know. Removal / resignation from his position in student government would seem to be a good start.

Why would you, or I, or any decent person want to have a conversation with that racist?

And how much influence would he have had had he not been splashed over social media by the right? Because I have to deal with racists on this board darn near every day and I do it in the hope, although that is often a vain hope, that I can change thier minds and attitude

He's got a position in the student government at Ohio State University. That's at least a moderate amount of influence. Probably more than you or I have.

You don't "have to". Your participation here is entirely voluntary. You're free to hit the little 'x' in the corner and just (figuratively) walk away whenever you like.

And yet here you are in this thread, condoning / defending / minimizing / downplaying / rationalizing blatant racism. You'd be more credible and persuasive if you took at least as hard a line against the racist John Fuller as you did that kid from the promposal.

Speak for yourself - oh! You are! Well what are you going to DO about it? I mean apart from come here and complain. Are you going to contact that student council and put in a formal complaint?
I do not see this as racist. I see it as a commentary on implicit bias. He is not calling for that to be a norm nor is he actively advocating its initiation. He is speaking a truth about a personal dream. Surely you can say “I would love to live in a world where all people are equal” without being an actual communist.

The correct action to take when someone states something you disagree with is to TALK TO THEM. Not grizzle about it on an online forum

Nothing. I've got no control over whether Ohio State University condemns or condones racism.

Why would I (or anyone else) need to do that? He literally said it to the student council.

Of course you don't. You "have to deal with racists on this board darn near every day" but this guy literally says, "I do believe that Black people are superior" and you don't see that as racist. Somehow, I'm not surprised by your racial blinders on this.

I'm personally skeptical of that, but it's not the topic of this thread.

Then why did you "grizzle about it on an online forum" when it came to the promposal case?

Wow Bowerbird, a complete reversal of how you acted in the other thread about the promposal. A kid in high school makes a comment that is debatable as to whether its racist or not and your first comment is about consequences. This guy makes a comment that fits the very definition of racist and your first comment is essentially that its no big deal? AND you don't think its racist according to another post?

LINK: Racist Definition & Meaning - Merriam-Webster : having, reflecting, or fostering the belief that race (see RACE entry 1 sense 1a) is a fundamental determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

You do realize that your flip flop here could in itself be considered racist?

Here, I'll do what you apparently can't do. Stay consistent.

What this guy said meets the very definition of racist. Therefore his comment was most definitely racist. There is no debating that. In addition he said this to other members of the student body during a "student government meeting in March". On school grounds. If it violates the schools TOS and this really did happen on school grounds then they have every right to mete out punishment. After all, like you said in the other thread... "No right to free speech does not include right to no consequences if you are being an arse". And like I said in that other thread, if the students want to ostracize this guy, that's fine with me.

What I get from this is that this young man would love to live in a world where the black man moves up to the mantle that the white man currently sits. When you come from a race has been oppressed for hundreds of years it’s not hard to understand where they’re coming from. My logical argument to him would be you can’t fix racism by replacing it with another racism.

Even in this post thread, we’ve seen someone claim that the black man would still be in spears and loin clothes if it wasn’t for the white man. I would like to call it what it is, but one of the diehard pro Trump righties who moderate this forum will delete mine and let that stay.

That’s interesting. I notice you declined to take mr loin cloths and spears up on his challenge of naming a successful black-run community.

Let's assume that your spin here is correct and this is what he meant. Its clearly not. But for the sake of argument let's say it is.

What you both fail to realize is that in America, black people already sit on the same mantle as "the white man".

I’m all for free speech. There are even comments made on here I won’t report so I can reference them later. It’s funner to point them out later rather than have them deleted. It helps later debates. So let them speak and make themselves a fool. But their is no doubt this guy is racist.

This is true. While I’m sure society would still progress I believe it would have been slower. The European culture can take credit for almost all major advancement in history. Planes, trains, cars, electric motors, electric generation, radio, rockets, asphalt, concrete, computer, phones, smart phones, internet, internal combustion motors, and the list goes on.
