For all the Russian toss artists here you'll like this.
You're boys are now dropping the butterfly mines or "Soviet death toys" as they were called into Ukraine....cool huh...you know the ones designed to maim kids because they look like toys....30K injuries in Afghanistan mostly kids but well, who gives a crap eh....just kids.....you've been blowing them up with rockets so why not add these little buggers to the mix as well....a bit of spice to the carnage

    These are the wee gizzmos

    https://www.dw.com/en/fact-check-is-russia-using-butterfly-mines-in-ukraine/a-61120270

'Fact check: Is Russia using butterfly mines in Ukraine?'

DW's fact-checking team investigated whether butterfly mines were used by Russia in Ukraine. So far, there is no evidence for these claims. The images circulating online at the moment are not from Ukraine and are outdated.”

Which doesn’t mean they’re not, but doesn’t mean they are either. True, or just another mass media myth that's doing the rounds?

Whatever your beliefs, somewhere on the Internet you’ll find someone who tells you they’re true. It’s what happens when you buy into media propaganda. From Gaddafi the monster to Saddam committing genocide, it’s follows a familiar pattern. The Russians eat babies to you know and they do Black Masses in Ukrainian graveyards.
Oh, so these butterfly bombs have just started have they? Proof?
Next media story please ... :)

Anyway, those butterfly bombs. Is it one of these ‘A man in a pub I met on a gay pride parade in Saudi Arabia told me …’, or just another bunch of junk from the mass media found on the Internet? Seriously, why do you fall for these things? Don’t you know that the vast majority of what you read on western media is propaganda?

You claim to be an ex-NCO and do not understand the tactical implications, I think that is strange. All of the Baltic, North to South is NATO, if Finland and Sweden finally join. No Russian ship can move, because modern weapons can cover all of it from land. From the North and the South, it will be a NATO water, a NATO Sea. Naturally in the North, With Sweden and Finland those waters will become NATO, choking Russia's Northern fleet, just with land based weapons.
Tja, Puttler surrounded Russia, even more. Added over 1000 km land border to NATO, with Finland, just a couple of hundred miles from Russian Heartland. St. Petersburg and so on.
This has so backfired on Puttler, its epic.
And now Russia gets is arse kicked in the Ukraine, to top it of.

    Brilliant.

    Speaking of mopping up:

The Swedes aren't stupid. They know that the island of Visby dominates the Baltic. Whoever controls it controls access to Kaliningrad. My bet is that fear of Russia targetting Visby played heavily into Swedish calculations on joining NATO. They could see what Russia might be thinking. NATO now owns the Baltic.

It is also in a stronger position relative to the Kola Penninsula, which is of vital importance to Russia's naval forces & nuclear forces aimed at the US. Another massive own goal by Putin.

Various politicals have no right to say whether nations can be a part of NATO. The ultimate say on the matter is the nation in question, ie Finland, and the universal consent of the existing NATO nations. Russia is the primary issue for NATO due to its long, brutal history of empirialism and sense of entitlement about other nations. Russia never experienced the Englightenment of the West, and its political system is more primitive than that of England when it created the Magna Carta.

Can't see that video. There's several Youtubes I subscribe to from Russian citizens. They stress they can't say too much.
In the big plazas it seems the number one loss is Ikea - a store Russians apparantly love very much. With Ikea gone the plaza car parks started to look grim.

It is a massive strategical blow to Russia. Who cares about Ukraine, if you think about the far reaches of Sweden and Finland joining NATO?

Yep. Putin has wrecked his army, humiliated and impoverished his nation and left it strategically worse off. A massive miscalculation.

It would have been an even bigger miscalculation has Russia done nothing and let NATO set up missile bases in Eastern Ukraine. After years of doing nothing, Russia finally reacted. The result is Ukraine gets a hammering and NATO sits on the sidelines and watches. Syria was as far as NATO got in the Middle East before being stopped, the Chinese built their islands in their own back yard and Ukraine in Europe is where NATO expansionism was halted. Squealing beliefs doesn’t change that.

Really? And why this "encirclement" is needed after all, and where did you get this kind of information? Secret documents from Pentagon, I guess? :D

No, before Russia attacked Ukraine in 2014, Ukraine was fully neutral, even in constitution. And even after Russia attack, there was not a question, that Ukraine can join NATO. This is FACTS. But as I see, here we meat another bot, who will run around and repeat all the same without any arguments and facts. Quite a lot of them here.

Not only Ikea left. Many Western firms have left. And in those places where there were their outlets, it naturally became deserted.
For example. McDonald's left Russia. By the way, their loss from this is a billion and 200 mollions. Now all McDonald's outlets operate under a different brand. Menu saved + many new items. Prices have become cheaper. What do you think, is it good for Russians or not?
In reality, the departure of Western companies had practically no effect on the life of Russians.
I found a stream for you from the streets of Russia (recorded) Look. It's curious. At a minimum, you will know how people really live in Russia.
