That’s the downside to pets/animals. But Tennyson nailed it: 'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.‘
I’m not a hunter but I can imagine hunting over a dog spoils you about like driving stock with a dog. Once you have it you wouldn’t want to do without it! In the “funny things dogs do” department, I once had a Border Collie that would point and flush upland birds. He’d even attempt to arch his tail but alas the breeder we got him from docked it short. It was all very amusing. Awesome pictures I really enjoyed them.
~ Just had 6 abandoned adult cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated. One had eye surgery. All are well and resting .
I'm more of a cat person, personally. Even though I love dogs as well. I use to volunteer part-time at a no-kill animal shelter. I would walk the dogs, and feed them, and clean their bowls, and then go into this huge room, full of cats, and pet them. I currently, have 1 mane coon, black and white kitty cat. His name is Mr. Boots. I have saved him in life, just as he has saved me. You can buy a cat anything, and it doesn't matter how expensive the item is. If it comes in a box, the funny thing is, that the cat would rather probably just sleep in the box, then use, whatever you got them. lol.
I like bird watching! and watching animals in the wild, or even outside anywhere. Their movements, their twitches.
I wish I had horses! They can be very majestic! Very handsome and or pretty. Out in the Wild, or tamed, both can be a site to see! And their spirits, both tammed or untamed, are very awesome as well! I wish that I had more experience with them. Unfortunately, I've only gone on a trail ride for an hour, and been on them a couple of other times. Most of the time, in the news, anytime I see a human getting attacked by an animal, I wonder, if the human cornered the animal first. Because any animal, in the animal kingdom at all, either human or not, tamed or not, if cornered, with tend to usually lash out to protect itself. So, in that case, the human should have known better.
I miss my pet water moccasin. I tell my girlfriend I'd like to find a homeless rattlesnake to adopt but evidently some people are kind of funny about living with venomous snakes in the house. I should tell her I'm sure going to miss you!
Horses are great, especially if someone else is feeding them. LOL. They are special animals. We humans owe them a lot of respect for what they have done for us. We’ve made them bear burdens we are unable and unwilling to bear. We make them do dangerous often fatal things for our amusement. They have taken inhumane abuse and died terrible deaths by the millions in our wars. And many of them still find pleasure in a pat on the neck from a human.
Hussie, my neighborhood cat who has adopted me, brought a kitten to the house about 2 weeks ago. I guess I have a sign over my back deck door that reads 'Free food and treats'. I'm such a sucker.
Unless someone steps up and takes it off my hands it looks like I’ll have a pet Kune Kune pig. Apparently one of our sows farrowed and abandoned this little guy. My wife found him running around by himself out in the cold Saturday He was only a few hours old but took to a dish of milk right of. Stands in the middle of it and eats like a pig.
I need to take a better picture. It doesn’t look like a piglet. Those big ears do look like puppy ears.
I never kept goats myself but I did care for them quite a bit when I was younger they are quite personable animals I was surprised.
We retired to our last home five years ago. The previous owners had coy ponds and local cats treated them like outdoor theaters. We already had to cats of our own...brothers... Abbott and Costello. We started feeding the outdoor cats and soon had two new indoor ones... sisters... Laverne and Shirley. Then came along our big bruiser... Einstein. Then our little playcat (female) Schnoz. Then came our loudmouthed lovecat ... Gabby. Then one morning we found three tiny kittens in the driveway, abandoned by their mother. We bottle fed them and they are thriving, but till playful and jut kids... Furrankie Sinatra... James Catney... and Egg Nog. We have a very shy little Blondie too. Yes... ELEVEN cats.
I have to ask, how did your Einstein end up with his name? We also had an Einstein, because he wasn't, lol. (Yo, Einstein!)
