This question relates to my own theory of sexism in popular culture which I have developed since 1996. I have written many small essays on the subject, and I can not explain everything in a few short sentences. I will try to explain my theory: In general men are much less vengeful then women. As a result, people in the media who engage in negative stereotypes about men suffer no repercussions. As a result, a lot of negative generalizations are made about men. As a result, men are seen as monsters.
Have you identified any actual evidence to support the idea that men are statistically more "vengeful" than women or is that just a casual observation you've made? Have you considered that the long established social structures that present very different behavioural expectations on the sexes could be a factor in your observations too?
1) I have posted a more detailed analysis of situation 5 years ago: Why do men have reputation for being unkind and selfish? 2) Male lack of vindictiveness is shown by the fact that Hate Speech directed at men in MSM gets very little pushback. 3) This is male cultural pathology.
I would say it depends on why someone is saying this. And who it is saying it. If a woman says all men are trash or admit our pigs is it because she dates the wrong men? Almost every time I've heard a woman say that it's because she dates the wrong men. Particularly she dates out of her League and those men see her as the second tier of prizes and move on to something better and I can understand that hurt somebody having to be realistic about who you are and who you can get us difficult. Thing that men are pigs is probably a woman who dated a guy that just wanted sex and he got it from someone else and that was good enough for him or he did it a woman while he was still married to another one. Women in that predicament normally are the only women I ever hear say that phrase. When men say men are pigs it's typically something to the extent that they know they would have sex with anybody who offered it to them. I'm not sure I've ever heard a man say men are trash. As far as women being vengeful they don't tend to forget. I wouldn't say this is official it's just that they weren't socialized to get over it like men were. But I have heard men say this about women and it's typically the women that their father clothes or beat up their car or try and get them fired from their job when they break up. Essentially this is the same problem men dating the wrong women. A woman saying this about a woman is not as common but I have heard it but I have no inside on why they would say that. So in the case where we have a woman who's been hurt by a man or a man that's been hurt by a woman I don't think any of these things are sexist per se or that they don't reflect a sexist attitude. They reflected carthotic release. People that believe this through and through yeah that's sexist.
3 main reasons: 1. Because our culture encourages men to be like that, and they are raised to be like that. 2. There is less pushback against anything negative towards men, because they are seen as less vulnerable. It's like who are you motivated to protect from bullying or other forms of victimization, a full-grown man, a woman, or a child? The level of outrage is in ascending order because of how vulnerable they are seen to be. 3. Evolution since women are biologically the primary caregivers (due to breastfeeding), they need to be more nurturing, and since men are generally stronger, they need to be more ruthless to kill prey and rivals.
I would say much of the way men are because that's what women select. They select men with masculine traits because that's what women want if women wanted an emotionally available man who cried openly a lot that's what men would do.
My interpretation is much simpler. Many people have unacceptable ideas or stereotypes. The only reason stereotypes about men are frequently voiced is the lack of consequences for voicing these stereotypes.
I understand that your words are a joke. My ideas are expressed in over 120 small essays and based on my mental work from 1996. To summarize everything in one sentence: Men are viewed as monsters because bastards ignore that.
There should be male and female stereotypes. Men and wome play different roles in society. For instance when a toddler reaches for an electrical outlet, a mother will slap their hand away but that kid will still reach for that outlet again. A father will watch the kid get zapped and say, "You ain't going to that again are you?"- and the kid never reaches for the outlet again. Meanwhile though Men are expected to bring home the bacon, it's mom's job to make sure everyone gets a share. Our brains are just wired differently, and anybody who denies this isn't paying attention. Men and women have equal rights but they are not wholly equal.
I might be interested in reading those essays. How do you define bastards? Like fatherless kids or is it a euphemism. By "that", you mean that women tend to be vengeful? Boys and girls are even vengeful in different ways. Boys will pick on a boy outcast physically. Girls will tease the girl outcast until they develop an eating disorder.
I think generally they don't care such a woman that believes this is probably only going after a very few men. Also known as men out of her league and can't figure out why she can't get any of them to commit to her. This is typically something said by a side piece so I think that's how most men see it. Latin must have been on babies about it you know sticks and Stones we have to live that way. If we start whining and complaining about it nobody cares. So when you hear a woman say all men are trash are all men are pigs just in your mind take that to me one day I will be a cat mom.
Sadly, male-bashing has become common in MSM since 1990s. Many people in Modern World view men as a species of morally inferior demons.
Yeah they are an easy scapegoat. But society doesn't work without them. They can only be bashed so far. If this is a personal issue I'd recommend seeking companionship in Vietnam, Cambodia or the Philippines even south America. Women in a more traditional culture seem to really prize western men because they are not cultured in a macho culture.
The 80s, actually. 80s sitcoms like Family Ties and Growing Pains led the way with dads being portrayed as a goof. We can’t ever seem to find balance. In order to correct past failings towards a group, we must over correct to the point of creating ugly caricatures of another group.
There are, and always have been, significant differences between how men and women are perceived and presented in society but I think it's wrong to view those differences as being exclusively negative towards men and positive towards women. For example, a reluctance to criticise women could well come from an attitude that women are weak and need protecting or that women are never expected to do as well as men in the first place. With "hate speech" against men in the media, I again think you're over-simplifying and over-generalising. Whether criticism or attacks against individual or groups of people receives push-back or support will be based on much more than simply the gender of the people involved, and though it can be a factor, it isn't necessarily going to be in the same way in different circumstances or from different sources. Significantly challenging your point about a lack of male "vindictiveness", when anything like this faces significant push-back, it will typically come from a mixture both men and women, and any counter-defence will typically come from both men and women too. I'd respectfully suggest that you already have an established conclusion and are looking for reasoning to support it rather than taking an open and diverse view of the evidence.
