I have heard some conservative thinkers state that we humans are so small... so insignificant... that if anybody believes that we humans could have an impact on the climate... then that person is stupid. I have to admit... that Bill Gates is NOT stupid.... that is not his problem. I do believe that Bill Gates is correct to be concerned about how productive we humans actually can be if we can agree on a project... such as turning paradise into parking lots! "And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." (Genesis 11)
But.. I do believe that Mr. Bill Gate is extremely PESSIMISTIC... and I really do like what Mr. Alan Savory proposes.
Bill Gates has proved many times that he is a real life Bond villain. He confirmed that recently when he thought that sitting with Communist China dictator, Xi, with a manure eating grin on his face, was a photo op. All he needed was a white cat in his lap, with diamond collar around its neck, to be the perfect Blofeld.
As with many things, when the person touting a particular set of beliefs, PERSONALLY practices them, I'll consider their argument. I already do what I think is right for the environment, as best I can. The difference is, I don't demand that others do as I say, or even as I do. Everyone has their own level of internal balance. (read: some just don't give a ****) So those that make noise for optics, but don't carry through get sidelined IMO.
Yeah that is one of the more idiotic ideas from conservative "thinkers." Anybody who believes that isn't thinking or is willfully ignorant. I get that there are people who see what they want to see and try to attribute changes to natural phenomena whenever possible, but to say humans could not possibly alter the climate is asinine. Blowing up the entire planet may take more technology though, I guess. Turning the whole land surface of the planet into a wasteland for many years, we've had that ability since the cold war. The real question has never been if, but rather how much and how quickly.
This is why John Kerry is a joke and a hypocrite. He gets really testy when you bring up his private jet travel. Funny, John. I remember about 35 years ago when I spotted you in Logan Airport in Boston flying commercial like most everyone else. Now that you are worth hundreds of millions of dollars, after marrying John Heinz’s widow, and have a big powerful government job, you are flying in your private jet with a “Bigfoot” carbon footprint. “Do you KNOW who I am?” I heard you dropped that line when you cut the line at a rock concert.

The whole topic of how we humans affect the environment is astonishingly complex...... I felt compelled to plead guiltY to BEING IGNORANT of the fact that ocean levels are becoming more and more acidic..... and perhaps atmospheric carbon may be playing a role in increasing the oceans level of carbolic acid??????? Ignorance shown in my 2008 campaign, my apology to Ms. Elizabeth May! BUT.. The scripture is true and has all sorts of applications. Scientists tell us the earth took billions of years to form as it is. They add billions every time they run into a problem. I've seen it in my lifetime. I have seen cataclysmic events in my lifetime they can only replicate with a million years (Mt. St. Helens for instance.) God laughs at our insignificance in the creation of things. We will not destroy His earth until He so desires and if He wants, he can do it in a "nano second" or less. Bring on the New Earth!
