One of the biggest but least talked about issues is dementia and guns. How do you tell your ageing parent they are no longer able to have a gun. Lots of people have been shot that way

I'd like to see some evidence of the claim that people suffering dementia have shot lots of their family members.

Need more? I would love to see your research showing that it is safe to leave guns in the hands of those with dementia

Haha, that right. The US government is *never* going to ban guns. Why do people think that the US government would ever ban any guns. They must just be paranoid.

This is probably the low end since official stats are not kept but then most hoplophiles will dismiss any statistic in relation to adverse outcomes with guns

Ah, I see. You are looking for perfection. It doesn't exist anywhere in society. Sorry.

Somehow, the Biden people do not understand that the issue is VIOLENCE- not gun violence. Violent people harm others; the weapon chosen is secondary and has no influence on the choice to do violence.
Virtually anything can be a weapon. For example- more people are murdered each year by fists and feet than by all the long-gun types put together, including all those they call "assault weapons".
That would certainly make fists and feet "assault weapons". The question is if malicious intent is present- then, any violence-prone person IS a walking assault weapon. And unlike a gun, which is incapable of violence on its own- those people are capable of violence with no external devices at all. This is the difference between hazardous and dangerous, and violence-prone people ARE dangerous people.

The war against guns would be a bit like seizing and destroying the car make and models that were most common in fatal drunk driver accidents. If we cut down the number of Buicks or whatever brand the drunks like to drive, we would surely save lives....

These people's choices reveal that their real objectives have little to do with preventing violence, and a lot to do with gaining power over the people. It would say they aren't confused, it is purposeful.
And that is a huge red flag.

I love how the gun manufacturers in America have turned a whole subset of the country into victims. For a gun to be n effective preventative it has to be immediately accessible 24/7 and somehow ensure that you are not disadvantaged by the element of surprise ie are you armed in the bog?

Why is this then a uniquely American problem? Other industrialised nations do not have your death rate or firearms injury rate

So, why are so many strategies that would reduce the gun death rate rejected out of hand because they do not offer a perfect solution?

The .38 special is a rimmed revolver cartridge. You wouldn't show a photo of a semiautomatic pistol and say, "it's a 38 special" unless you don't know what you are talking about.

Toilets are not for storing guns. Toilets are used to hide the vodka in the tank.

The pistol is in a dresser drawer in my bedroom. The shotgun is in a closet in the same room. The gun safe is for the firearms not intended for self defense. Next idea?

then you call the police, report it stolen and given them details-such as SERIAL NUMBER, make, model description when and where it was stolen.

because most of them are designed to incrementally ban guns, or to make it easier to ban guns or to harass lawful gun owners, and have little to do with reducing gun death rates
