    I urge you to do some reading. Rosalyne really did a great deal to expand the role of First Lady. Jimmy included her in EVERY decision and depended on her to read people and give him political and policy advice. Older posters will recall all the crap Hillary Clinton got for being so involved in giving day to day policy and political decisions etc, but Rosalyne literally attended some of the cabinet meetings so Jimmy would not have to waste both their time recounting what happened in them at night before bed.

    Well if his administration has been a success, then perhaps that would be something to applaud, but I am not sure that was really an expansion of the role of first lady. Edith Wilson basically ran the country as first lady after his stroke and Eleanor Roosevelt was probably the most activist first lady we have ever had.

    I would submit it was a success. Eleanor was basically FDR's eyes and ears around the country, and the touchstone for his campaigns because he could not do much traveling. Edith Wilson did basically run the country, but nobody outside the White House knew she was doing it.

    Kind of like Susan Rice running everything during the first part of the Biden Administration.

    I suspect she ran everything in the White House, with the exception of defense and military decisions. In May 2023, I think she was put in charge of dealing specifically with defense and military policy decisions, but pushed out of her prior role running everything in the White House.

    Jimmy is by far the best ex President this country has ever seen … my wife got involved with Habitats for Humanity over 30 years ago and 2 companies I worked for donated building materials for her projects in Homestead, FL … wifey has met, had lunch and spoke with Jimmy and Rosalyn … I had the chance but work called …

    I'm glad someone who was such a wonderful person was able to enjoy 96 years of life. Congratulations to those who were fortunate enough to have been touched by Roselynn Carter. Some people are truly special, and she was one of them.
