It seems you are committed to denying facts. To wave off the incredible stress that our healthcare system was under, during the first couple of years of Covid, because of the example of the hospital ship, is just a joke. It would be like me pointing to one food item, that hasn't increased in cost, and therefore concluding, there has not been any inflation. I mean the dire state of our hospitals, is such a well documented fact, that I don't even see the point in my linking an article for you. Do a Google search, yourself. But whatever you see, it appears you will just find some way to ignore.

No, this is an erroneous argument, as well. As the snip I offered in my last post informed you, the data confirming this, has been coming in, since the 1950s! There has been ample time, for "review."

Also no, to the idea of waiting until the problem is at its zenith, before trying to address it. First off, as I already told you: the problem with Global Warming is not that it will become too hot for humans to survive. Secondly, if you do not understand that when it comes to climactic patterns, related to substances like carbon in our atmosphere, that we are attempting to steer a tremendously huge vessel, which has a cargo of momentum, so that there are no quick turns possible there-- then you are below the minimum level of understanding required, to have an intelligent conversation on the subject.

Now, if you at least knew that you were completely ignorant of the mechanisms at play, there might be incentive for someone to try to help bring you up to speed. But your attitude of confidence in your pronouncements, despite clearly having done no research whatsoever-- including even just passively absorbing basic information-- makes it clear to me, once again, that it would be pointless, trying to debate the matter with you. It is as if we were standing, defenseless, out on the African savanna, and I tell you that we must begin moving to a more defendable position, where there are materials we can use as weapons, because of a leopard, off in the distance; but you are telling me, "look how far away he is-- there is no need to worry about it, unless he gets much closer."

So I will leave you to your absolutely baseless certitude. Make my apologies to the leopard, for not being with you, when he arrives.

    I disagree.

I hold him personally responsible for the deaths of the 13 young service members who died in the suicide bombing next to the airport in Kabul. I also hold him directly and personally responsible for the murder of a whole family of pro-American Afghans by a drone strike shortly thereafter, in his panic to look tough after the suicide bombing. I also hold him personally and directly responsible for holding nobody, including himself, accountable for any of it.

I hold him personally responsible for the utter chaos and lack of security on the border. And, closely related to that, I hold him responsible for failing to do anything of substance to stop the flow of fentanyl laced drugs into our country which kill 100,000 Americans every year. This death toll dwarfs the 9/11 death toll, and yet our border is more insecure than ever, and deliberately so. 100,000 per year!! Meanwhile, NYC is being forced to cut its police force and other city services because of the financial burden of taking care of this flood of immigrants.

And I hold him responsible for his utter failure in the lead-up to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. All he did was threaten sanctions if Russia invaded, and he told all Americans to get out of Ukraine ASAP. There was no attempt at negotiation, no attempt at making a deal, no constructive dialogue. Just threats and posturing like a juvenile schoolyard big mouth. In his term in office, he has done nothing to advance the hope of world peace. Nothing. He is a president who reacts to a crisis, but he never tries to proactively avert a crisis.

I also hold him personally responsible for lying to us on Inauguration Day when he said he would be the President of all the people. Since then, he has claimed that every objection or resistance to his agenda is because of "MAGA Republicans". How many times has he used that epithet in his speeches? How many hundreds of times? It's like he took a page out of Hillary Clinton's "deplorables" hate speech and just changed the words. He is no more of a "uniter" than Trump was.

And finally, I believe that there is plenty of good reason to believe that he sold out his office to enrich his family. And I believe he lied when he claimed he had nothing to do with Hunter's shady business dealings.

He chose a Vice President who sounds like a Kindergarten teacher talking to 5 year olds.

His history as a senator from Delaware was to successfully prevent the integration of schools in white neighborhoods, teaming up with southern racist senators to achieve that end. (Look it up for yourself if you want.) I believe that at some point he realized that it was in the interest of his political career to change that image, and so he did. You can color hair, but you can't change its real color.

And before you think this is just another PF Republican knocking the Democratic president, I am an Independent, and I don't plan on voting for either Biden or Trump in 2024. Your thread title asks a question. And I gave you a straight answer.

I did hear that hospital EMERGENCY rooms were packed during Covid. Well, the crisis is over, but those rooms are still packed. That wasn't because suddenly we had an over population of medical needs due to Covid.

    Example from June 2023: https://www.npr.org/2023/06/25/1184...hy-are-hospital-emergency-rooms-still-crowded

Sure you can find articles about how bad it was for hospitals. Great way for them to generate baseless fear in the population. Odd that you don't find the hospital ship story, which did happen, is uninformative. It was at the very height of the issue in one of the most impacted sites: NYC.

It's great that someone was able to find data points in the 1950s, about a 100 years after carbon use went through the roof it was colder. Someone forgot to tell the public about global warming then as we were being panicked into thinking the next ice age was coming in movies, news magazines and TV.

    Example from 1978

The ice age didn't cause enough alarm and didn't grant wealth and power to the corrupt. But make CO2 a pollutant? You breath out CO2. Any activity you do causes you to generate more of it. In theory, they could tell you when it is OK for you to walk.

Too much CO2 in our atmosphere might be a problem. But when they're telling you that whole nations will be under water by 2007, its fair to write they're trying to cause a panic. Again, those who know more than us aren't afraid (as they weren't afraid of Covid. You've likely seen those videos of important people pulling off their masks the moment they thought the cameras were no longer rolling.

There are better ways to deal with this issue if it is an issue than metaphorically speaking, ramming corks up our butts. And we can have infinitely better initiatives than outlawing fossil fuels in favor of hugely wasteful, expensive and ecologically destructive EVs. A POTUS who knows and acts upon this I have to think will be far better than one of the climate hysteria champions.

I suppose if I lived in some parallel universe I would think that he was doing a good job but I don't think that paying more for everyday goods and services and being engaged in a proxy war with Russia is necessarily a good thing.

But I suppose if one wishes to stand upon one's head and declare that it is the world that is upside down, then they have the freedom to make that choice.

It depends on how you define his job. If his job is doing what his handlers tell him to do then it is successful. If it means his handlers are helping America then it is failure.

He actually built 410 miles of border wall. The people of Border Patrol praised the building of the wall as it made a difference in illegals crossing. I trust what they say over what the Border Czar Kamala and Majorca's say.

You don't have to bet, just simply Google the information if it floats your boat !! Then do a miracle, work out how to compare countries. For example, unemployment rates are manipulated by each government, as in, who is classed as unemployed. Is one group on a certain benefit and/or system classed as unemployed. So if a paid government system employs people through third parties on working schemes, are they classed as unemployed? What different schemes do both countries use.

So if you think you have an argument based on simplistic views, good luck.

You cannot stop illegal immigration, when your border security is not allowed to return them to their country of origin, by direction from the White House.

Higher interest rates cause the cost of all goods, services, and wages to go up. At the moment most young people cannot afford to buy a home. Rentals in my area cost many to have to pay 60% of their monthly income on housing. After food there is not much, if any, left over.

Biden and Company came into power with the slogan that he was going to make life better for everyone and establish the USA back to its days of glory. He rolled back every piece of the Trump agenda that he possible could. So, what are we left with? Higher gas Prices. Unaffordable housing for first time buyers. High interest rates that have eroded savings at about 17% since he took office. Two partisan parties in Washington that hate each other, and both have factions in their own parties that hate each other. An agenda of clean energy where the cost of converting it cost more than the present source of energy. In some cases, the US doesn't even have the material or source of material to go forward with their plans. Even the Abortion issue, which was a Democrat darling, was taken out of the Fed's hands and returned to the states because the Democrats couldn't let the existing laws stand but kept pushing for less and less restrictions.

P.S - I just returned from my doctor to get a Covid shot, and he refused to give it to me, as he said the new vaccine has a lot of problems with it like blood clots. It will be interesting to see how this Administration handles this new strain of Covid.

Nothing can be done to help you holding a president responsible for what happens in a war environment.
    Dictated by the previous administration.

Did you hold trump responsible for anything that went awry during his tenure?
Is he responsible for anything. trump doesn't think so. Does that mean no MAGA thinks they or he are ever responsible for anything.
I know they say that a lot. Finger pointing and blaming is the hallmark of MAGA.

So then you know also, our economic environment is better than yours.
That's all I was pointing out.
Yet, I am not caring a thing about what's happening in your country, nor do I care.
But you are here caring about another country. With no opportunity to do anything about it. It seems pointless to me.

80 miles of new wall, and if the wall made a difference, then why did it suddenly stop making difference?

He didn't built new miles. He repaired or upgraded existing walls.

On USA border. Not in your countries border.

Walls have been going up for over 20 yrs.
Yet the problem hasn't been going down.

Walls are mostly useless and costly.
Walls can be gone over, under, around, and smuggled through.
All that money for a temporary solution. A bandaid on an artery wound.

No, your economic environment is good for you based on your wage level v inflation v jobs v housing v interest rates v national debt v government fiscal and monetary policy etc.. and our economic environment is good for us based on our wage level v inflation v jobs v housing v interest rates v national debt v government fiscal and monetary policy etc..

If you want to "simplistic" compare countries, I look forward to your analysis. What you should really be doing is, look at your own economic history. For example, how quickly and the trends you guys recover a recession. I'm sorry if this is getting too complicated. So for example, when Obama inherited a recession, based on previous recoveries, did Obama achieve a slow, sluggish, or fast recovery? I don't think you'll know the answer.

Border security has to follow USA laws just like every other law enforcement organization.

That's part of the reason a border wall is mostly useless and neither party addresses the root of the issue.

Higher gas prices than what? The covid pandemic worldwide shutdown? I've told many other posters, that is a bad measuring stick to use, unless of course, shutdowns is how one would like the world to continue.

That is a problem when our parties hate each other. At the end of the day, we all want the same things. Food, clothing, shelter, love, family, etc.
IMO, the 2 parties don't hate each other, they work very well together when it comes to protect their institution.
They work to get people pointing fingers, make them look the other way, so behind the scenes, they can further the lock on remaining in congress.

Yes, the purpose of higher interest rates is to slow the amount on money available. That is what curbs and brings down inflation.
The trick to that is doing so at a pace to avoid a recession or depression.
So far, it's been successful. Not without pain, no retraction is ever painless, but as minimal pain as possible.

As for the new strain of covid, I don't think it, at this point in time, is any worse than the flu. NOTE: I didn't think that in 2020, 2021.
But that's how viruses work. If they are very deadly, they kill themselves off by killing off the hosts.
If they are just dangerous without to much killing, they can spread fast and over time, living bodies adapt or we find vaccines to reduce the effects.

I would be interested in what is your root cause of the immigration problem?

At the time of the final withdrawal from Afghanistan, Biden had been the CIC for 8 months. He did not have to set a hard deadline, and he had full control and responsibility. And he and his administration LIED when they claimed the Afghan army would stand up and hold off the Taliban. ANYONE who served with the ANA knew they would quickly fold without support, and our military establishment knew it. But they parroted the administration line, shamelessly lying to us.

And do I hold Trump responsible for things he did? Of course! Why do you think I said I wasn’t going to vote for Biden OR Trump?

    What law is being broken?
What's the main purpose people immigrate to USA?

    ...
How many immigrants came for each reason in 2021?
Of the 1.5 million people who immigrated to the US in 2021, about 42% came for work, 32% for school, and 23% for family. Nearly 2% were seeking safety, and about 0.9% were admitted on Diversity Immigrant Visas.

How have reasons for immigration evolved over the past 15 years?
Since 2006, work has consistently been the top reason people immigrate to the US, with the exception of 2013–2015 when immigration for work was equal to or slightly lower than for school.
    https://usafacts.org/articles/why-do-people-immigrate-us/

    ...
Our economy needs workers, immigrants often need jobs.

Oh the other big reason, democrats needs votes. JK, That is a lie the RW likes to promote.

Yes, 8 months. Not much time to draw up a plan that complex and ongoing for several years.
He was just the brave president to actually engage in the withdrawl that most USA citizens had asked for for nearly a decade.

He lied? Or the Afghan army lied? There was little resistance to the Taliban.
You were serving then or recently at that time? You have 1st hand knowledge?

Your post was long, I didn't see the part of who you are or are not voting for.

But I thank you for taking the time to answer sincerely.

No, you don't get away with answering my questions with your questions. You are the one that said a solution needs to be found to fix the Immigration problem. Do you understand the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration? It is estimated that there are up to 30 million illegal people in the USA. How do we fix that problem? Being here illegally is breaking the law. You are right that most immigrants are looking for work. The problem with that is if they are illegal and working and being paid under the table. It deprives a us citizen a job and the illegal is not paying taxes into the system. They also are undercutting wages in the area they work. If they have family they are over taxing the school and health care system. We have a controlled legal immigration system to bring in legal workers and grant them visas.

Peoples and voters opinions are giving poor consumer confidence.

I answered your question. With a link and a story to the 5 biggest reasons why people immigrate here.

Most who are here illegally, are overstayed visas.

We fix that by shoring up the legal process of making them legal or returning them. But we don't focus on the real immigration problems.
Cheap labor is wanted by our economy. That is one of the biggest reasons I can think of.
Neither side addresses the immigration issues.
Most of the the jobs the illegals get are jobs regular US citizens won't apply for.
This in not anything new. It's been this way for many many decades.

A wall is not a solution. Not an answer.
Walls can be gone over, under, around, and smuggled through.

    ...
Unauthorized immigrants in the labor force
    [IMG]
The share of unauthorized immigrants in the U.S. workforce was slightly less than 5% in 2021, compared with 3% of the total U.S. population.

Demographics help explain the difference: The unauthorized immigrant population includes relatively few children or elderly adults, groups that tend not to be in the labor force.

Overall, about 7.8 million unauthorized immigrants were in the U.S. labor force in 2021. That was up slightly from 2019 but smaller than every year from 2007 through 2015.
