What if we banned black people from having guns? Of course that would be unconstitutional and highly unfair to the ones who are law-abiding but it would certainly cut out a lot of gun crime..

But then again of course it wouldn't because the ones who are committing the crimes are largely banned from owning them to begin with.

So as always the solution from Democrats is to take the toys away from everyone in the classroom even though it's only a couple of bad apples misusing them.

You seem to be unaware of a potential massive moral failure in confiscating a weapon from anyone. If one takes a weapon from another, and then some event happens in which that person legitimately needs that weapon to defend themselves, then the original taker (or preventer of acquisition in the first place) of that weapon has committed a grave injustice toward that defenseless person.

So if a bureaucrat confiscated (or prevented acquisition of) weapons in Ukraine or Israel prior to the attacks there, then in that very moment in which a Ukrainian or Israeli needed a weapon to defend themselves from a foreign invader, that bureaucrat has committed a very serious, fundamental human rights violation against that defenseless person.

I'm not seeing, in general, a recognition of this concept by a large portion of people pushing gun control measures. It seems they are just willing to ignore the fact that a situation could develop any day, in which they would be responsible for rendering people defenseless, when they didn't have to be.
