LINK: March 4, 2004 (texas.gov) First, before I continue, I have no idea why the link says March 4, 2004. The letter itself is from today. And MAAANN is it a DOOZY! It's public domain so there should be no copyright concerns. Going to post it in total. If Mods have a problem please feel free take out all but the first two paragraphs please. That's what I normally do for copyrighted material is just take the first 2-3 paragraphs. Now this IS serious. For the first time in our history a State has declared an invasion emergency under Article 1, Section 10, Clause 3. Now, under normal circumstances of illegal immigration, prior to Biden, I don't think this would hold up in a court of law. But now, under Biden, with 6 million illegal entries in just 3 short years, and the vast majority NOT being held in detention like the law demands? He might just have a case. Also, recently SCOTUS ruled against Abbott regarding the concertina wire he'd been laying out. Though Abbot found a loophole in the decision in that while it barred him from preventing border agents from removing the wire, he could just go behind them and put it back up. I wonder how this declaration affects that since it was not in consideration previously...
I'm not sure I would actually describe it as that. More like the big guns. But yeah, its obvious he's got a bigger dick than Biden on this issue. And he looks to use it to rip him a wide one.
Seeing that rightists are already calling for civil war (again) because the USSC ruled against Texas. Let’s see what they do on round 2 Mobilize the gravy seals! Too bad we don’t have a functioning congress to address this the constitutional way.
Who exactly is calling for a civil war? Also, Biden doesn't need Congress's approval to enforce current laws already on the books. In fact that is literally his main job. Executing the laws. Hence why he's the head of the Executive Branch.
I wondered what his next stunt was going to be. I didn’t know whether Ron DiSantis was going to continue to buy bus tickets for Hispanics in Texas, now that he’s not running anymore. Abbott has already spent plenty of time pandering to white racism and to the revival of the Lost Cause (without referring to it in so many words). The politics of going backwards. Of course, the real doozy was decision to cite Arizona vs United States, which says the EXACT OPPOSITE of Abbot’s argument. It is really only Scalia’s dissent, which has no real weight in law, except as part of an argument.
Bold: No idea what that refers to. Underlined: Awww! Look everyone! The Race Card! Don't people know that no longer holds any weight? Italicized: What's "going backwards" about it?
White racism? How did I know someone would tuck that into this thread and why didn't someone talk about black racism when the people of NYC and Chicago are going insane because of all the illegals? You're now going to either stop playing the race card with illegals, or expect a healthy dose of Chicago's black racism. It's your choice. Anyway, Biden will never see this letter and Biden will never control the border because his handlers tell him not to. Millions of illegals along with all their drugs have crossed our border and Biden, Harris and Mayorkas tell us it's secure.
You do know the Mexicans living in CA want their country back, right? Do you have any thoughts about them?
The SCOTUS ruling just said that Texas had to give Border Patrol Agents access to the area. No more, no less. Beyond that, it is all just posturing on both sides.
Its not Biden, he is rebelling against the Supreme Court ruling which ordered him to allow Border Patrol access to the border and to their boat ramps (Abbott had blocked access).
Honest question — since Abbot has declared them an invasionary force, wouldn’t him transporting them across the nation and releasing them amount to treason under article 1 section 10 clause 3?
No, I didn't know that? Do the Mexicans in Texas, Arizona, New Mexico want their country back also? Do the Russians in Alaska want their country back? Do the French in Louisiana want their country back? Do the English in Virginia, Massachusetts want their country back?
Don't know. It could be an argument against him being able to declare it as such though. This is of course assuming that he continues to bus them. That would have to be decided first before any attempt to determine he's being treasonous in such.
When I lived in El Paso the Mexicans were patriotic and not like the Mexicans in So Cal where I lived for 21 years and saw it myself. You ask an interesting question about the Russians wanting Alaska back. Putin knows weakness when he sees it just as the illegals and cartels see opportunities when they see them, both thanks to Biden. Putin's Decree Triggers Ominous Alaska Calls Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a new decree relating to Moscow's historic real estate holdings abroad, a move interpreted by ultranationalist bloggers as a foundation for future revanchism against Russia's neighbors—and even the U.S. The decree, signed by the president late last week, allocates funds for the search, registration, and legal protection of Russian property abroad, including property in the former territories of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union. This would include Alaska, swathes of eastern and central Europe, large chunks of central Asia, and parts of Scandinavia. https://www.newsweek.com/putin-decr...a-calls-territory-empire-soviet-union-1862689
Yes, it requires them to be processed, which can take a long time, but if you are ok with the current law then so be it. IMO there is room for improvement.
