He didn't run a horrible campaign. He is an authoritarian politician who prioritize culture wars above all else, and most Americans don't like that.
Calling him an authoritarian who prioritizes culture wars is how a leftist would characterize him. I was talking specifically about Republican primary voters and his results in the primary. You are probably out of your element just a bit when trying to understand Republican primary voter's motivations as to why they vote as they do. If you are trying to predict his general election abilities and argue for the lefts side, that is probably not worth discussing because it is pure conjecture at this juncture.
No, it's how American voters view him, including independents, and many Republicans. Why do you think Nikki Haley kicked his ass? Not at all. Heck, he lost to Nikki Haley. Maybe its you who doesn't understand the problem with DeSantis. He IS authoritarian. I agree with the the squatting thing, but many other things that he has done, like the internet ban, replacing elected officials with his appointees, punishing corporations for disagreeing with him, threatening other businesses for disagreeing etc. Textbook authoritarian. You'll never find a libertarian who'd vote for him. No, I am not arguing "for the lefts side". Why would I? There are people who can view things in neutral light, its just that you are not one of them since you see everything as "left vs right". I supported Haley in this cycle. PS DeSantis didn't write the bill, he signed it.
Meh. I have said my position on Desnatis and am more than happy with my prior words on the subject. This is not worthy of a lengthy debate. **FWIW, most of Haleys "supporters" were either crossover voters who would never do so in the general doing so because they thought it was sticking it to Trump, or at minimum they were the Never Trump vote, so you are not an exception. Desantis was never in the running for any of those voters. You on the other hand, voting for her makes perfect sense and is not surprising even slightly.
I don't know either. I don't know how or why these laws were originally passed. They seem crazy to me.
The "culture wars" are defensive actions. DeSantis isn't the one who started them, he's responding to leftist action.
I think the DeSantis campaign raison d'etre was that lawfare was likely to take Trump off the board during the primaries. That didn't happen so...
Ok, so when the topic is the squatter laws and you say DeSantis is responding to "leftist action", you were referring to some off-topic issue. I get it now.
We ship our undocumented immigrants offshore, yet have similar squatting laws in Australia. Suggest the two are not relevant.
This is what, the second time today you've had to barge in without having any idea what was said? The comment you were referring to was in response to someone mentioning the culture wars, not squatting. You're not exactly covering yourself in glory with these off the mark responses.
Please accept my apologies for sticking to the topic. The problem with your posts is that they are all over the map, and barely ever on topic. Its hard to follow.
Also, when a NZ crim with Aus residency (but not citizenship) gets out of jail they are shipped back to NZ on the day. Straight to the airport.
Sorry that policy sounds too logical and is breaking my brain. Not used to simple and effective policy round these parts
Squatting makes you poop better. Sitting on a toilet seat is actually counter productive. I am also disgusted by America's lack of bum guns. You have all other sorts of guns, but no bum guns. You just smear poop all over your bums without washing them. Eww.
I paid good money for my house and the four toilets that came with it. and while I have lots of land, the local constabulary wouldn't like the neighbors complaining about taking dumps outdoors
You do realize that the Indians were busy raping, killing and kidnapping and plundering amongst their own tribes long before Europeans arrived? Stealing the land of other tribes? They didn't just spring forth from the North American continent like the grass.
