Capital punishment is a subject that bobs up and down in the sphere of political discussion, but is generally centred around "Is it ok, or not". What I would like to discuss is something more specific - if capital punishment is ok, then what methods are acceptable, and why? For me, I'd say we should bring back the guillotine - namely because it is quick, efficient, and relatively painless; versus lethal injection which is known to be easily botchable.
If you're in favour of capital punishment then you should be concerned about maximising its deterrence value. That could well mean that you make it as brutal as possible
Guillotine executions have been botched, if the equipment is badly set up! [Eugene Weidman] France 17-6-39, the last public execution in France. The executioner had to cut & pull Weidmans head off!
Sir, that is a VERY GOOD IDEA! Why do people insist on hanging on to those who deserve to be under capital punishment: rapists, murderers, pedophiles, people who trafic sex, etc. The reason why there is so much crime in all the countries of the world, is because there is no capital punishment to make them think twice and regret ever THINKING of the terrible crimes they would have done without capital punishment. Sieg Heil.
Wow..........I actuallly agree with you for once. More brutal depending on the nature of the crime and the sentence needs to be carried out swiftly. The problem here in the US is that the condemned will sometimes sit for up to 20 years on death row wasting tons of tax dollars on way too many appeals.
Easy: none. America uses the lethal injection, right? That was invented by one of Hitler's physicians - Dr. Karl Brandt.
How about this form of capital punishment. A regiment of (*)(*)(*)(*) are unleashed on you and then they molest you with their dicks until you kill yourself.
I support capital punishment only for corrupt public officials and abusers of children. For public officials, I support death by beheading. For child abusers, I support death by torture.
I support capital punishment by the states (as opposed to the Federal government) in two specific instances -- 1) Murder in the commission of a felony. 2) Murder of a law enforcement officer in the performance of their duty. Nothing else rises to that level.
Corruption of public officials is far and away worse than that. So is election fraud, for that matter.
Because those are the only two crimes that rise to the level of... call it "horror" for lack of a better word, necessary for the state to take a person's life IMHO. Not all murderers deserve capital punishment -that's why the state has different criteria for each crime that involves the death of another human -- involuntary manslaughter, voluntary manslaughter, 2nd degree murder, 1st degree murder, and capital murder. Some crimes are so brutal, so heinous, so reprehensible, so against the common mores of society, that the only punishment that fits the crime is for the criminal to forfeit his/her life. As far as my belief, it's the truly senseless murders that deserve capital punishment IMHO - the young teenage girls who are abducted, raped, sodomized, and tortured before being killed. The store clerks who are shot execution-style in the back of the head while laying on the floor during an armed robbery because the criminal wants no witnesses. The felonies themselves are bad enough - but it's the complete lack of regard for the lives of others that makes some crimes rise to the level I feel is necessary for capital punishment. Law enforcement officers put their lives at risk everyday for society - and while the same may be said of others, the job of an LEO differs from them. A LEO is the front-line administrator of the criminal justice system, and is literally bringing law and order to the streets. And although I may disagree with the way the justice system works at times, I also respect it. And murdering an LEO shows a complete lack of respect for the justice system IMHO. I'm not quite sure what you mean here, Unc. If am on-duty murdered LEO is later discovered to be a pedophile, that doesn't alter the facts of the crime IMHO. If a person takes the law into their own hands and kills someone who is molesting their child, and that person is later discovered to be an LEO, that doesn't change the facts of vigilante justice that was administered. As bad a crime as it may be, I don't believe the state should execute pedophiles, period. Only a crime that results in the death of another should be considered for capital punishment. Bottom line - caoital punishment should only be used in the most extreme cases, but it should be used.
I don't think that murdering a LEO is worse than murdering somebody else. Everybody feels pain the same and the families of murder victims that aren't LEOs will morn just as much.
If you are going to permit the government to kill its citizens, then Nitrogen inhalation is the humane way to go. Any other method is barbaric by comparison.
