But, Mohammed WAS all of those things, according to the biographies I have read of him! Sometimes facts just don't fit what we wish were true.
Which 'primitives'; the ones living in Virginia? http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=vi...&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:13,s:0&biw=1024&bih=540
Let face it most americans (the general public ) got learnt abt the outside world - via Hollywood movies from which the developed an facination/ afondness for stories s like Sinbad , Thief of Baghdad - Thousand + One Nights , Rudolf Valentino, Salome dance of seven veils, Casablanca , Even as late as 1970-80 , Anthony Quin in Lion of the Desert , the Messenger . etc.etc While British + French were seen as "imperialist" by many arabs , Americans were widely regarded as friends . who stood for Liberty against Imperialism. However , all that changed during Truman's Presidency , when Arab govts realized how much power + influence the Zionists had on Washington's Middle East Policy. and its unwavering /unequivocal support for Israel. btw - Should I worry ? . ....
It depends whether the authors could be regarded as reputable academics who have done their homework - researched their subject or merely prejudiced - hate mongering bloggers. It might be best if you too , check yr "facts " as to what is "true " or "untrue ". tatty - byeeee. -
American Muslims are a drop in the bucket. They are very tame because most of them have been absorbed. They are like Chechens living in Moscow. They don't mean anything in the great sweep of demographics.
Should you worry? Only if you are interested in a reasonable exchange of ideas. What you say is one possible characterization. Muslims saw America as a tool to use against other Western powers. Muslims cannot accept kaffirs except as subordinates.
...I read their newspapers translated into English. I follow their politics. The Muslims you like are like teets on a bull, useless. Muslim moderates are not ascendant. They are very quiet because they don't want to be killed by their co-religionists.
I'm yet to read anything "reasonable " i.e. not prejudiced in yr posts. How many muslim do you have contact with - socially . Every time you post , you reveal yr pathetic ignorance of Muslim americans . The first Muslims in america were - Black slaves from Afrca. READ AND LEARN : http://www.slaveryinamerica.org/narratives/bio_ibrahima.htm You use words which you've got no understanding of . The word Kaffir (arabic Kufr) has many meanings . , AFAIK - its doesnt apply to Jews + Christians who are monotheists and regarded as "people of the book" followers of Moses + Jesus - much revered prophets by muslims. --- READ AND LEARN : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kafir#Etymology =============== : The word eventually changed into many forms cafre (in Portuguese, Spanish and Greek), caffar, kaffer, kaffir, kafir, etc. (in English, Dutch, and Afrikaans). Those words were then used to name many things related to Africa, such as the Kaffir Wars, Kaffraria, kaffir lime, kaffir corn, and so on; see kaffir (disambiguation). Some of those African slaves were taken by the Portuguese to work in their colonies in Asia. In some cities of Sri Lanka, in particular, the descendants of those slaves still constitute a distinctive ethnic group, who call themselves Kaffir. By the late 19th century the word was in common use throughout Europe and its colonies, often appeared in the newspapers and other written works of the time One of the Union-Castle Line ships operating off the South African coast was named SS Kafir.[30] In South Africa the word kaffir eventually became a racial slur, applied pejoratively or offensively to African blacks or to dark-skinned persons in general. For example Sth African Dutch Reformed Church minister one referred to Nelson Mandela as a Kaffir --------- Next time you use words, trying to sound clever , , make sure you know + understand its meanings .
American Muslims are every bit as American as you, and are not a "they" to be excluded, ignored or dismissed.
Margot, if I have made an error I am so sorry. I have allowed many of your errors to pass without comment. I will never do so again. When you personalize a comment you forfeit the possibility of dialogue. Sad.
There is no one America. There are many Americas. Some of them are hostile to each other. The era of a united America is over. The polity itself may not survive. No one is a member of my community unless I recognize them as such. Muslims can be part of my community if they are conservatives. That's true as a general matter.
Wrong. There is one America. It has many facets but it is one. If you are not prepared to be part of it, **** of my country.
Your country is Rome in the year 410 CE. It has lost control of its fate. Weep. There are stages of grief. The last stage is acceptance.
Wrong. My country is The United States of America, today. Get with the program or ****. We don't need any more dead weight.
Mere assertion does not constitute evidence. I think you are reacting emotionally because what I have said is true, and it breaks your heart. Tell me...how is America going to pay its current and future liabilities? Taxation is out of the question. Borrowing will only be possible at exorbitant rates that will break the country. How can this indebtedness be paid?
We have had economic problems before. We will have them again (long after you are gone). We will carry on.
We are going to cut spending, restructure entitlement programs, and sooner or later **** of the way and let American genius and entrepreneurship do what it does better than anyone else in the world.
The correlation of historical forces has changed. The past can never be restored because historical conditions can't be line up at will. America is no longer the country you think it is, and Americans are no longer the people they once were. Sad but true. All things must pass.
The current "crisis" is manufactured. America's debt is a tad under 100% of GDP, thats about a world average. And that GDP is roughly 25% of the entire worlds. And as for paying off that debt, its going relatively straightforward. Judiciously cut spending, implement cost saving measures in healthcare which focus on the cost centers not the patients, slightly increase payroll taxes for social security and medicare, streamline the tax code, elminate loopholes and slightly raise taxes on the rich, eliminate subsidies for businesses that don't need them, reduce military spending by closing a bunch of international bases and kill some weapons programs. Then look out. I agree the american people aren't what they once were, but to count them out when the going gets a little tough and the politics becomes a laughable partisan clusterf**k is making a big big mistake.
Sorry gramps, but America is still great and you aren't taking us down with you. Suck it up and face that final mile like a man.
