It seems to me that the Dems were all pretty much pro-Israeli for the longest time, and only pretty recently, did they turn anti-Israeli. Does anyone know how/when this developed? Anti-Israel didn't seem to be part of the Dems agenda until the last couple of elections.
I believe the greater question is why does the United States have a double standard when it comes to Israel. When other nations such as Iran or N Korea defy UN Security Council Resolutions the US leads UN member nations in imposing economic sanctions but when Israel defies UN Security Council Resolutions the US responds with foreign aid and arms shipments. The hypocracy of US foreign policy cannot be exemplified any greater than in our dealings with Israel. I hardly see any change in policy between the Democrats and Republicans. The Obama adminstration just vetoed a UNSC Resolution that would have condemned Israeli settlements in Palestinian territories that was juxtaposed to UNSC Resolution 242 that the US voted for that condemned the acquisition of territory by war and required Israel to withdraw from all territories occupied by Israel in 1967. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council with veto power not a single UNSC Resolution has passed that the US hasn't agreed with. Not one. It is time for the US to treat Israel just like any other nation that violates UNSC resolutions. It's long since time for economic sanctions to be imposed and the United States must fulfill it's responsibilities as a permanent Security Council member to use all of the economic force at our disposal to induce Israel to comply with Security Council Resolutions just as we do with other nations that refuse to comply. US hypocracy must end.
When did the Dems turn anti-Israel? Probably when they stopped teaching their kids the importance of the Old Testament, so they could be more easily swayed by false prophets like this guy, would be my guess: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_G1RSV8PNU"]Jeremiah Wright and the Joos[/ame]
Perhaps Shiva, if the UNs behavior hadnt been so overwhelmingly anti semitic in recent history, the US would have an easier time giving support to any one of the countless stream of continually anti Israeli resolutions that emanate from the dysfunctional family of despots represented there. The UNs gang mentaility is specifically why the power to veto nees to exists. The vast majority of anti Israeli condemnations are baseless rants that entirely disconnect themselves from the cause-effects of the history of the conflict. Even Obama wont get on board with the UN in regards to Israel. Perhaps he understands whats at stake better than I had thought. Hypocrisy BTW. Ever been any sanctions against Hizbollah or Hamas?
Please cite any UN Security Council Resolution that is anti-semitic in any manner. I would like to read any such resolution as the United States has always protected Israel from any anti-semitic action by the Security Council.
Actually I believe there are. I don't believe that the US sells weapons to either. Of course Hizbollah is a completely different matter when it comes to Israel and the Palestinians as they are in Lebonan and not Palestine. To my knowledge there have never been any sanctions against Israel. As I've stated previously I believe that the US and all UN members need to impose economic sanctions on both the Palestinians and the Israelis as neither has been willing to accept the conditions of Resolution 242 where the criteria was fair for both sides of the conflict.
Dems aren't anti-Israel. They take money from AIPAC, just like the Republicans. It should bother a lot more people in this country that the one of the biggest lobbies in Washington represents a foreign nation.
The sheer amount of onesided condemnation is a testament to its current antisemitic mentality. The US protects Israel by vetoing such silly resolutions....as you made us aware. If the police in your town only laid the blame for all the crime that occurs there on only black folks-would you call them racist?
Before we can really begin to answer your question we need your definition as to what being pro-Israel and anti-Israel entails...
The dems did not turn anti-isreale. The media turned anti-dems. Some are misinformed and manipulated to think that the Broadcast media is subjective and what they are spewing is the news. More than 95% of Broadcast media is owned and operated, and edited by very powerful Jewish people in the USA. Those owners and operators do have a pro Israel agenda as does any sub group of USA citizens. It's like Italians in the USA, or the Irish, or the Germans, Chinese, Mexicans, or the Jamaicans. Each has their own cultural loyalty and biases. That is human nature. Second, the news media is a giant profit machine. They make their money like politicians: popularity and funding from corporations via marketing and advertising. The broadcast media's money/payment comes from corporations in the way of ads, and stories on what will promote their product, i.e., medical research, agriculture stories, auto stories, etc. Third, these news celebrities most think are serious journalist are nothing more than marketing celebrities who are called upon to make a comment on an event, hence putting the "Spin" on the "story". Broadcasters, "Edit" the story and show only what they want you to know. So what you get is a filtered view of what the broadcasters approve. This is inline with the ideas of the corporations products or what is in their interest. News Media today is like a turd, they all squeeze one out, but it is how that turd is shaped and digested that is important.
Please cite a single anti-semitic United Nations Security Council resolution that has ever been passed. I have never seen one. In fact there isn't one nor is there even a single United Nations General Assembly resolution that condemns the Jewish People. There are both UNSC and UNGA resolutions that condemn the actions of the government of Israel but the government of Israel it not the Jewish People nor does it represent the Jewish People as a whole. Those facts are clear and the all of the actions by the United Nations have addressed the violations of human Rights whether it was the offensive war in 1967 whereby Israel was intent upon acquiring territory or the condemnation of the illegal occupation of E Jerusalem by the Israeli government. Yes, there have been UNSC resolutions addressing Hezbollah such as 1701 which required it to withdraw from the conflict with Israel in 2006. http://www.bintjbeil.com/E/un-1701.html There have also been UNSC resolutions related to Hamas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Nations_Security_Council_Resolution_1860 The belief that the UNSC is biased against Israel is unsupported rhetoric and the United Nations has never condemned the Jewish People which would constitute anti-semitism. Israel as a nation and the Jewish People are not the same.
Vacant nazism - anything the nazis do is okay, and any criticism of the nazis is anti-semitic. If the US pols don't grovel to AIPAC and if they dare to denounce, say, child-murder or torture of Palestinians, that is anti-semitic. This stuff is sick, sick, sick!
Democrats didn't turn against Israel. Personally I want Israel to survive as a nation. I also want the Palestinians to have a state of their own. I don't think an idiot like Netanyahu is helpful for either of those things, as he's more interested in catering to an ultra-conservative orthodox minority than to the whole citizenry of Israel and has absolutely no desire to see a two-state solution through. That seems to be where most Democrats are. So it seems Democrats are not anti-Israel. They are anti-Likud. Likewise Republicans are not pro-Israel. They are either pro-Likud or pro-Rapture.
Every US president since Eisenhower has tried to orchestrate a just peace in Palestine.. and we continue to pour billions into the conflict. Its not just Dems.. lots of Americans see Israel as VERY uncooperative.
As we all know, the nazis have got ALL US politicians by the short and curly by way of AIPAC. Why do the supporters of racism and child-killing by the zionists pretend there are differences between 'em? What utter mugs you all are!
I think what happened is that liberals started embracing Islam because it is just as anti-Western and anti-freedom as their beloved Marxism. Even though the liberal lifestyle is condemned far more severely in Islamic culture than Christian culture, liberals decided to ally themselves with Muslims to assuage their white, liberal guilt, and give themselves a booster shot of politically correct tolerance. Plus, why not register a few more minority Democrats, while we're at it? A lot of the left's Jew hate is because their buddies, the Muslims, hate Jews.
Jews, as a demographic, are overwhelmingly liberal and one of the most loyal Democratic blocs. This continues even after Democrats supposedly turned "anti-Israel." Your culture war rhetoric only helps exemplify why conservatives don't get more Jewish support. You treat the world as a battle between Christians and Jews. Jews are "supported" because they are considered an ally against the common enemy, the common enemy depicted as less-than-human. Jews are also divided on whether Netanyahu is a hero or a guy that should be thrown out on the streets. But I guess Christian theocrats see a lot of themselves in a man whose entire ideology is centered around favoritism to a fundamentalist sect. If the circumstances were different I could see Christian theocrats loving the Saudi royal family... Oh wait...
Just like everything else wrong with the Democrat Party it began about 1967 with the rise of radical left wing groups like the SLA, Black panther movement etc that sought to overthrow the establishment by force and violence. When that didn't succeed they decided to take the Fabian route and corrupt the system from within. Hatred of Jews and Israel is a common meme among communists, socialists, and others who absolutely need a scapegoat for as many of the world's problems as possible.
Democratic Party antipathy toward Israel is a combination of things Imo. African Americans seem more hostile toward Jews in general. Add to this the fact that the Palestinians are seen as victims by the academy, and you find a powerful anti-Israeli mix. American Jews are now whipsawed. They won't join conservatives, but their leftist allies are often hostile to their co-religionists. They are not in an enviable position.
Have you read anything about Socialist Zionism or are you just inventing things as you go along? Every president since Eisenhower has tried to orchestrate a just peace in Palestine and every time has ended up with Zionist egg on his face.. and/or increased Foreign Aid to israel.
Yeah, I "invented" the rise of the socialist left in America. A few stupid Jews has little to do with anything.
