My personal fave (which I keep loaded and ready to fire under my my bed) is a Beretta 9MM. Advantages: 15 round magazine allows me to not only knock an intruder down, but provide him with life long air conditioning. Disadvantages: You gotta be a better shot with this than you have to be with a shotgun. Got no problem with that...
Really? Can you show exactly what statistical evidence this lone bloggers presents which supports his opinion, and invalidates my own statements based on actual factual information, thanks.
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. A lot of other countrys will put to death rather than imprison.....especially Middle East. We are the opposite.....
Right now I'd have to say The best Home Defense weapon is a Real Estate Agent. No one's about to bother you in this Market.
How about evidence that shows your bold contention? I at least came close to evidence, you just posted the dubious contents of your own imagination.
My main concern with a pistol, even a 9mm, is where the round would end up. Now I agree the Beretta 92 is a classic. I would love to have one. Not too expensive, reliable, and feels great in the hand. But, the 9mm round can still punch through a wall.
Pistol is not much worse than a shotgun in terms of penetration of walls. Go to http://www.theboxotruth.com/ for more info. Specifically: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot1.htm 9mm JHP: penetrated 8 boards of 5/8 sheetrock, bounced off 9th (that's 4 walls) http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot3.htm 12-Gauge with #4 buck: penetrated 6 boards of 5/8 sheetrock, bounced off the 7th. 12-gauge with 00 Buck: penetrated 8 boards, one pellet embedded in 9th.
Check this out.....Any time you should meet someone that dis-likes Chuck Norris. Look at their hands......There always Lilly Fingered. FACT.
Best home defense is a pistol and a dog. If the dog doesn't scare them off then you'll need the pistol. I prefer a pistol over a shotgun for the reasons listed in the OP, mainly mobility in hallways and such, and if my dog is latched onto the perps leg I don't want to take the chance of shooting my dog with the shotty. Also, about the going through walls aspect, a pistol sends one projectile through the wall whereas a shotgun sends several projectiles in a constantly widening pattern through the wall. Oh, and .45ACP over 9mm.
And... that's a bad thing? My wife's in bed next to me. My dog's crated in the living room opposite the line of fire for someone coming in my bedroom... Jes' sayin'
Chuck Norris once ate an entire birthday cake before his friends could tell him there was a stripper inside.
If Chuck's so bad why does he have a body guard? Besides he's getting old, and slow, it happens to everybody eventually. I'll still go with the riot gun for home defense, and I'll bet Chuck has one too.
Chuck Norris destroyed the periodic table, because he only recognizes the element of surprise. If Chuck Norris was a country, his main export would be pain.
I've got a new solution, just rent a room out to one of these guys: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TANC4VI8vF4"]Worlds Fastest Gun Slinger - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCB7uEQ9W9A"]Patrick Flanigan and Winchester SX3 Fastest Shotgun in the World - YouTube[/ame]
After a slightly unnerving situation in Denver over the weekend, I have decided I am going to sell my Sig P250 and get a compact M&P40. I need a concealable handgun larger than a .22.
