Going through the forums, there seems to be a lot (and emphasis on a lot) of ignorance about China, Taiwan, and Asia in general. Most of you have never even visited there let alone lived there. So go ahead, ask me anything. I was born in Taiwan. I'll do my best to explain and represent Asia and dispel any myth.
Since the main ingredient of "Moo Goo Gai Pan" is chicken, not cow.... wouldnt it make more sense to call it "Bokbok Bok Gai Pan"?
Psh, blame that on Americans that bring in the specs / reqs. Uh. Dunno why they call it that either. Moo goo doesn't sound like any word I know in Chinese.
I would like to ask the Tiwan people if they have any Jewish news media and broadcast media companies? How many ?
No, as far as we know anyway, the main media outlets are either local or Hong Kong based. Though most cable company also have CNN if that counts.
Depends on the odds probably. This isn't exactly a Israel / Palestine situation here. Though most adult male are militarialy trained .
Actually, I have a question I did not find answer to yet. Since the Chinese Civil war between PRC and ROC, ROC has retreated to the island of Taiwan. This was seventy years and three or four generations ago. What I was wondering about: What is the general opinion of the Taiwanese themselves (not of the mainland Chinese) on how they see themselves? Do they consider themselves Chinese, Taiwanese, both or something else?
I'll answer this for myself because I don't represent all the Taiwanese. As a "Taiwanese" I consider myself Chinese. We have the same everything, language, methods of raising family, etc. The way I was raised was the way my grandparents was raised in China. Sometimes I get identity crisis. I'll say "I'm Chinese", a person replies "where from?" and I say "Taiwan" and they say "you're Taiwanese then". After a while you start to wonder. Of course taking polsci classes cleared it out for me - Taiwanese people are Chinese, no doubt. The KMT were Chinese and the people that supported KMT moved there. So strictly speaking, unless you're an indigenous Taiwanese (actual native Taiwan people; the tribal folks, who, mind you practice cannibalism and other weird stuff) you're Chinese. Of course some folks will be quick to point out that there is no such thing as "Chinese", and that there are ethnic groups, but I look at people who make this kind of argument as shaved monkeys. Seriously, Taiwanese people are Chinese, simple as that. I shouldn't even have to explain this. My relative (actually all of the male side) were in the military (of both Chinese and Taiwan) and hold no animosity toward each other. If there is one thing they say, they say that the western force would kill the Taiwanese just as fast as they would kill the Chinese. Example? See Korea War as perfect example. Tons of South Koreans were killed in a "friendly fire" action. Many SK historians doubt it was actually "friendly fire" and "just an accident". Ah long story short, we're Chinese. Saying I'm Taiwanese is like saying I'm "Shanghainese" or "Fuzhounese".
At least you're not confused. There are a lot of Chinese running around Canada and America who don't know whether they are fish or fowl.
Thank you for taking the time and answering our questions, i was wondering on the consumer product selection in the region, such as many products made in the americas or europe. All information replied is much appreciated, thank you.
How do you reach that conclusion. Not by reference to Hong Kong. HK isn't a democracy. TI is Taiwan Island.
i mean the things regular people buy regulary food, clothing, appliances, tools, kitchenware, etc. thank you
No one knows for sure as that's entirely China's decision if Taiwan is taken over. China has said it would allow greater freedom than HK, but Taiwanese do not trust the Chinese government at all.
Do you think China will use force to take Taiwan back? What do you think about the Traditional and simplified Chinese? Should China continue teach its people simplified Chinese? What do you think about America and its agendas? Between America and China, which nation is more peaceful? In South-East Asia, between the two countries, which would you rather to see to be the leader?
