How am I trying to run other people's lives for them? What makes you form that opinion? What did I actually say? I've scrolled back and can't find a thing, however, I'm willing to be proven wrong if you can show me exactly what it was I said that suggested I wanted to run other people's lives. So ... ?
I've already said it was your attitude...you really need to stick with parsing words on the moon hoaxer board..
Only if you (Americans) agree to leave US alone and keep your twonkerish myths to yourself. Stop spreading the bullcrap across the internet. I don't believe the rubbish that you spew Most of my countrymen do not believe your twaddle Most of the rest of the world just sits back and laughs But enough gets spread that it can and does cause issues for us
LOL My "attitude" is trying to run other people's lives? LOL That's the best one I've heard all week.
We will stop when you stop Meantime we would appreciate it if any time we decide to challenge these myths we do not get drowned out by a chorus of gun nuts screaming "My cold dead hands" I think I might start referring to it as "MCDH" syndrome
When you anti-gun folk start screeching and raising your petticoats about guns, it comes with the territory, champ.
The reaction outweighs the suggestions But then I have noticed a strong, almost overwhelming tendency to histeronic hyperbole among the American right
Yes, we probably also need similar names for some of the other myths such as "Guns ensure the people remain free" "More people get killed who do not own a gun" "Guns don't kill people people kill people" "If the people present at mass shootings had had a gun they could have shot the shooter" (that one always amuses me - and I am SOOOOOO glad we do not believe it) "You are defenceless without a gun" and even "Guns have nothing to do with penises"
Part of that comes from the fact that the left has tried and in some cases succeeded to take away gun ownership. Why shouldn't the right assume that is the end goal of any effort toward gun control?
LOL Yep, they're all classics (for all the wrong reasons). This one has always been my favourite: "Guns don't kill people people kill people". As soon as I hear that, I know what I'm dealing with.
Come and visit Australia we DID get rid of guns and we have not had the problems that Americans have predicted But we did reduce our mass shootings rate Before the gun buyback we had an average of one per year http://sydney.edu.au/medicine/news/news/2006/Dec/061214.php Since then ONE incident and HE was disarmed by unarmed bystanders
---Ahh, so it's right vs left with you then...You might have been honest in the beginning and admitted that.
Still you did have your guns taken away, just like the American right fears may happen here. It kind of justifies their fear and resistance
Shrugs indifferently It is not as if they were forcibly taken away. We sold them back and it was amazing how many were even from criminal backgrounds because a lot of THEM had wives and girlfriends who did NOT want those guns around the house. Those who wanted to keep their guns had to join shooting clubs which meant that they had someone other than the person selling them the gun to assess their mental status It is not that difficult to get a gun licence The biggest change was that guns were locked away
You're deluding yourself if you think criminals willingly turned in their firearms....you may have let your country remove your spine,.but I'll not do the same.
Then don't makes NO difference to me! Just keep your bloody gun myths to yourselves and stop trying to justify your horrendous homicide and injury rate to the rest of the world
An argument could me made that because you depend on firearms for personal safety then your courage is lacking. Im happy to sort things out in the boxing ring, does that make make a coward?
My american friend tells me that all the drive-by shootings are comitted by inner city blacks and hispanic gang-members. He says that in his area there are a rising number of gang-related shootings, and that this is one of the reasons he is against immigration. If this is true, then banning guns does not seem to make anymore sense that stopping illegal migration, or instituting racial segregation. Progressives blame the guns. Conservatives blame immigration and minorities. See: http://www.politicalforum.com/gun-control/202387-connection-between-poor-minorities-gun-control.html
