Somali Water-Rats, Pirates (Jihadist Supporters) get what they deserve...

European forces with helicopters strafed (using machine-guns... maybe a missile or two, but I'm not sure.) the boats and fuel depots of the sorry-arsed Muslim pirates along the shores of Somalia. Though slower, for the quick in-and-out, helicopters can be more precise.

Is this just a criminal problem or is this a war against decent, working civilians on water or boating for pleasure? Isn't this piracy a form of terrorism, frightening people? Much of the ransom money, evidently, goes to Islamic organizations and jihadists.

Frankly, the Europeans ought to go inland like the Israelis did in Uganda to rescue hostages. Maybe they fear collateral damage, basically death of innocents. Nevertheless, the Europeans have taken the fight to them.

Of course, there are probably humanistic progressives and others who think the Somalis are poor fishermen and need to make a living. And this attack by the European forces is unfair.

Somali Pirates (mostly Muslim) are not feeling so comfortable. However, they will continue unless more action is taken; such as boots on the ground.

"Sending troops ashore could be politically complex. It would require the approval of the various nations contributing forces to the NAVFOR (at least those that would be involved in the raid); it would require consulting with the Somali government (s...uch as it is) and it would, of course, entail a risk of casualties. Especially since the NAVFOR's technical superiority over the pirates would be dramatically lessened in closerange firefights.

But anything less than sending troops ashore is unlikely to solve the piracy problem."

    This is all quite silly.

On the one hand, industrialized nations casually fight pirates when press coverage will make them look good. While on the other hand, they continue to artificially feed Africans inducing an unsustainable population explosion which pushes many into piracy. Not to mention foreign fishing trawlers from Asia, US, Europe, Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and India have been illegally taking about $300 million a year in tuna and shrimp off the coast of Somalia. What else is a dude with a gun, 16 hungry kids, and a boat going to do?

I say stop artificially feeding Africans, provide free and plentiful contraception, pay for sterilizations, and teach them about sustainable farming. That is the only way to defeat piracy...and every other problem that plagues Africa.
