Progressives are just emotional children. New York has largely contained the black on black homicide problem by looking for armed black criminals on the streets. Of course, black community organizers and the ACLU are upset over the low body count.

The Chicago solution: Make law abiding gun owners pay for felonious/gang related crime involving firearms.

I'll support sending a platoon of Marines through the ghettos, on seek and destroy missions, before supporting a 5 cent per bullet tax.

So...people will simply buy their ammo across the county line.

A page taken out of California. They are (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiots, and after two years of the implementation of this stupid law, the spin will be dizzying on why the violence has continued to escalate. And people wonder why conservatives despise liberal thinking

Indeed, such measures will do nothing to reduce the problem of gun related violence.

Such proposals boil down to nothing more than anti gun types who're greedy of gain, making scape goats out of law abiding citizens who're merely exercising 2nd amendment rights.

Ah yes, my former state. It never looks so beautiful from the rear view mirror of my car as I left hell and went to the paradise of Texas.

Whatever, the public has way, way, way, waaaay more arms than they need. It's only a matter of time before there's some kind of civil war in this country because so many crazy people have so many weapons.

The big difference this time is the south has just as much manufacturing as the north if not more. Which side will you choose?

Some kind of civil war because so many crazy people have weapons? That is bulletproof logic.

Also...it is not up to you to decide how many weapons we need.

Who's to determine what amount of small arms is way too much? Who says we'll have another civil war? Who's to say that folks like you and I, who're quite different in regards to politics, might not be forced at some point to stand united against government forces?

It's unfortunate that we have such a high level of gun related crime in the U.S. But if we look at this issue, and see it for what it is, it's obvious that it's not ordinary citizens who're responsible for this high level of gun related violence. It's a small portion of folks who commit a disproportionately high amount of crime who're responsible for the staggering number of firearm related deaths in this country.

We're granted the right to bear arms, it's a very basic right. Why do we seek to punish those who are responsible enough (the majority of gun owners) to practice this right, for the actions of those (the minority of gun owners) who're irresponsible?

It seems to me that the better course of action is to address those who're not worthy of the right to bear.

They love it because it will open the door to further taxes and controls, then use the bullet tax failure as the excuse to take things even further.

Welcome to Chicago's new black market! Only things BS likes this does is create criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens.

Wooohoo, lets make it harder for people to protect themselves!
