Personally I would be astounded to find a band who toiled for years in bar after bar, club after club, spending months away from family, all to live in flee bitten motels, just to give away most of their earnings when they make it big just so some people can respect their integrity. IMO you can make money while keeping your integrity. The message of a popular band will be heard while a undiscovered band has a limited voice.

If you see a band as a sellout, then that is your prerogative and I can relate. I hated bands like Poison in the 80's and I labeled them as posers and not a real Metal act. But none the less Poison was a wildly successful band despite my dislike of them. To each their own.
