Obama doesn't need their votes anymore. Why bother to pretend he cares? [IMG]

    Yes, really.

They should be pitching in together as neighbors helping out each other instead of relying on Big Brother, and then blaming Big Brother when goobermint doesn't come through on it's pie in the sky promises made just to get votes.

they are surviving, as can be seen by the clean shaved look of the men in the crowd, but they want to move past this, they want to know how long it will be like this, it's completly understandable, no one wants to live without power, but the truth of it is that it will take awhile to get all the electrical infrastructure fixed and back in order, people can leave anytime they want, these people have choose to stay and ride it out, I was without power for a week a few years back (bad ice storm), talk about a long cold week, we actually got out the board games and read books, time seems to go a lot slower without power

Better check the rising death tolls and the old people freezing and starving in "tent city".

It's the job of the government in this place to be doing this.

Irony is noted. What do they think they're doing? And what are rallies, a group of people helping each other out, protesting against something. Think about your anger next time.

Do you even know who's supposed to be fixing this problem?

You don't think they're doing that? Or what have them do? Make a power plant right now? Having people who have no training in the field of electronics handle a power plant?

I don't think he needs any more assets, he's already got a lot.

    Not the federal goobermint.

Name me one thing that the federal goobermint does well, besides issue regulations(laws) that hinder business, does efficiently and does in a cost effective manner.

It is up to the states and localities, charities and private relief agencies and neighbor helping neighbor to provide relief, not the federal goobermint.

Like too many spoiled American sheeple instead of neighbor helping neighbor, they look for Big Brother goobermint to solve their problems.

And when it doesn't work, they whine and cry but keep voting for more Big Brother goobermint like more of the same poison will make it better.
How is holding a rally for collective whining and bellyaching helping them out?

I have been through 9 hurricanes in my life, lots of ice storms, tornadoes, droughts, had neighboring farms houses and barns burn down, as well as other disasters, and we never looked to Big Brother goobermint to solve our problems. We didn't whine, (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and complain. We roll up our sleeves and get to work to help each other out.

If I had $5 for every time I've been without power for 2, 3 weeks or more after hurricanes and ice storms I could retire in Tahiti tomorrow.

Do you even know who's supposed to be fixing this problem?

They should be pitching in together as neighbors helping out each other instead of relying on Big Brother, and then blaming Big Brother when goobermint doesn't come through on it's pie in the sky promises made just to get votes.

    Some are.

Whining and (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing isn't going to make the power come on any faster.

one thing to remember here, were talking about electricity... were talking about basements that have flooded.. before they turn on power they have to make sure it's safe to do so, this is not something that can be done overnight

they can't turn up the power to a block and just "hope" no one is working in a wet basement when they do

    Hurricane Sandy October 22, 2012

Hurricane Katrina slammed into New Orleans on August 29th. The last large group of people were evacuated on September 4th, 6 days later. Large sections of NY and the east coast have been without power for 21 days now, how many have been evacuated by Obama's FEMA? Bush did better with Katrina.

Yes, that sounds like whining. I've camped without a tent in temperatures much colder than that.

Perhaps this is why city people tend to become liberals - they become so dependent on luxuries that they lose their ability to rely on themselves for anything. That lack of self-reliance makes them afraid of what might happen if those things they rely on are lost, so they try to vote in people who will promise that the government will continue to provide for them.

Excellent post......you just described the lifestyle I had lived, seeing neighbor's help neighbors during a crisis.

There's one thread here where FEMA locked their doors and left 'due to weather' which was 10" of snow and gusty winds, but citizens stayed to help others....

Several libs were on FEMA's side for leaving..... you know, 10 INCHES of snow and gusty winds would be sheer death for them.

I was born and raised in the midwest, so know all about snow, blizzards and tornadoes.......
