"Obey The Prophet, Even If He Tells You To Kill"

Be the first of your friends to like this.
Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradawi—one of the most influential Islamic clerics in the world, author of over 100 books on Muslim doctrine, head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, and spiritual leader of the Muslim Brotherhood—maintains that Muslims must obey the commands of Islam's prophet Muhammad, even unto murder. This would be the same Dr. Qaradawi that American academics like Georgetown professor John Esposito praise for engaging in a "reformist interpretation of Islam and its relationship to democracy, pluralism, and human rights."

Missed in the West, Qaradawi made this declaration two years ago on his popular Arabic program, Al-Sharia wa Al-Haya ("Sharia and Life"), broadcast by al-Jazeera to an estimated audience of 60 million worldwide.

The immortal Islamic Green Man, al-Khidr, has been compared to the Celtic Green Man, Hermes and the Buddha and in cultural practice to Elijah and Saint George. Al-Khidr figures prominently in the Qur’an, Hadith, hagiographies, and the Alexander Romance. He is cited by Sufi teachers, who draw wisdom from his story as the guide of Moses (Qur’an 18:60-82) about the Sufi path and spiritual authority.

This book presents the explanations of the story as shown by three medieval Sufi Qur’an commentators, al-Qushayri (986-1072), Ruzbihan Baqli (1128-1209), and al-Qashani (d. 1329), presented here in translation for the first time. In addition, it reveals al-Khidr’s special compassion and inner knowledge (‘ilm al-ladduni) as divine inspiration distinct from conceptual knowledge and as a model of the mentoring master (shaykh al-suhba), who is distincet from the instructing master (shaykh al-ta‘lim) discussed in hadith, Qur’an commentaries, and hagiographies.

who is 'me' of the forum?

    The thread title is cute.

What are you going to say, when the messiah you would die for, tears down your temple?

It's a good job that Muhammad isn't around anymore, to give instructions that Muslims might follow. Of course, if he were around, the instructions might be more surprising that you think; perhaps a message of peace.

Muhammad's messages in the book do not necessarily apply to today. If they did, then clerics wouldn't need to be looking at the books anymore. Instead, the messages may only apply to a specific time in history.

Why do you think clerics are still trying to find true meanings and correct messages from the book? Anyway just because one crazy says it, doesn't apply to the mainstream - Plenty of jokes out there, but I'm 100% certain that not all Catholic priests are boy touchers, just like I'm 100% certain not all Muslims or Muslim clerics are trying to "wage war on the west".

Just like hearing the word Jihad makes most people think "terrorist". I guess I should be careful when I say "I could murder a coffee"... people might think I'm going on a killing spree if they hear the word murder.

I don't find this article newsworthy.

Islam's detractors will jump on anything in their pathetic attempts to smear all of the followers of the Prophet PBUH, irrespective of the source or the credentials of the source, or the antiquity of the quotations.

Absolutely nothing about the man's life would suggest such a thing.

Not according to Muslims, according to them it is the most perfect book ever written as transcribed by the most perfect man to ever live and to be followed by all mankind in all times.

The false prophet Muhammad (may (*)(*)(*)(*) be upon him) was a genocidal mad man and a kiddy (*)(*)(*)(*)er, that is not according to Islam's detractors that is according to Muslim historians.

Sounds exactly like Christians and their Bible, and the Jews and their Talmud doesn't it?

Many Muslims couldn't READ the Koran until a few decades ago... so often what they thought was in the Koran was really a matter of illiteracy, superstitions and ancient tribal customs.

That is no longer the case which is why scholars and clerics are rethinking the actual scriptures.

There is nothing in Islam that prevents women from education, employment, driving, or the social mixing of the sexes. Muhammed's wives mixed with men and were not veiled.

I expect you will be holding on to those false teachings far longer than Muslims themseves.

No actually it doesn't, the majority of Christians and Jews are secular for one thing and realize that the majority of old testament and new testament are allegorical in nature.

Oh really? And when did God, who tells us in the Bible that his word is law, immutable and not open to interpretation, say 'except the bits you find ridiculous; in which case you can call them analogous or metaphorical'? Show us that part please, because I guess I missed it.

And whatever became of the Canaanites? There is no evidence in the Quran that Muhammed was a mad man, he never called for genocide, and the fact that he had one child bride (the rest were anywhere from their mid-teens to their early 30s) doesn't make Muhammed a paedophile (attracted to sex with kids). Aisha was a political marriage and she later became a very important figure in Muslim history after Muhammed died.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I give the following links:

How do these parts of the Jewish religion make Islam worse than Judaism?

The bulk of Jews are not religous, no, and even identify as atheist, including the conceiver of 'Zionism', the atheist Hertzl. Only Jews get to be an 'atheist religion'...

I suppose you mean 2 Peter 1:20. Actually it doesn't say anywhere in the Bible that it's not open to interpretation, not even there. Funnily enough 'Christian Taliban' who believe in verbal inspiration and biblical inerrancy can't found this belief on any bible-verse, unless of course if they go to great lengths of interpretation.

Everything that you post is filled with hate, lies and ignorance the three qualities that I find most repulsive in a human being, so the question is are you as repulsive in real life as you are on this forum.

Because your posts do a bang up job of epitomizing everything that I hate in people.
